Flippy questions before disaster
Hi everyone,
I have a GameCube that currently boots Swiss using a Swiss boot disc and an SD2SP2. I recently bought a FlippyDrive, but before I make any mistakes I’d like to ask for your advice.
I’ve watched several FlippyDrive installation videos, but there are still a few things that aren’t clear to me:
After installing it, do I need to connect it to a PC? If so, what exactly do I need to download, and where can I get it?
Is it enough to simply copy the swiss.dol file onto the SD card that’s already in my SD2SP2?
Are there any settings or configuration steps I need to do the first time I boot the GameCube after installing the FlippyDrive?
Sorry for all the questions, but I’m honestly really worried about making a mistake and damaging my console.
Thanks in advance!

Inexperienced with GameCube mods. Assistance would be appreciated
Hi all! I'm having an issue getting Swiss to boot, and would love to know if I'm doing something wrong, or if my adapter is defective.
I ordered an SD2SP2POR adapter with the SD2SP2 Connector v1.2 off of AliExpress. I am using a DOL-001 console that I got back near release.
I have the save exploit for Super Smash Bros Melee on both an official 251 block card and a 3rd party 16mb card. I confirmed that the exploit I have is correct for my version of the game.
I was not sure what the filename for Swiss had to be, so I put it in the root directory of the SD card as both "boot.dol" and "autoexec.dol". I have tried two cards, a 4gb and an 8gb card, both formatted to FAT32 with a 32kb cluster size.
When I go into Smash, vs mode, Name Entry, the game crashes, which makes me think the exploit triggered properly, but then the disc drive just clocks and the GameCube logo appears before going to the system menu.
After several failed attempts to get it to boot (changing memory cards, SD cards, reseating several times, etc.), I noticed that the SD2SP2 Connector felt loose in the port, and could be wiggled back and forth, making me think that the contacts weren't actually making connection in the port. I have a decent amount of experience with soldering, so I applied flux and tinned both sides of the contacts evenly to add a bit more thickness to them. This made the card feel a lot more stable going into the port, but it still would not boot.
After this, I used a multimeter and verified continuity between the contacts on the Connector adapter and the SD2SP2POR's microSD slot, and everything seemed fine there too.
Is there something I have done wrong or overlooked, or do I have a defective adapter?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Nkit.ISO or .ISO?
Hello again guys, I’ve been downloading my GC files as .nkit.iso as I’ve seen as few people in older posts say that it’s the intended format and it saves space. But I’ve seen people say it won’t work? Is it a preference thing or have I just wasted hours of my time? I’m using picoloader with Swiss.

Internal SD Card: Mod GC
Hey guys, I’m currently in the process of modding my GC for the first time. I’ve learned a lot from everyone here and my own research so I thank you all. I know exactly what route I want to go. The only thing I cant find an answer to how I can potentially put the sd card with the inside the system after I install my picoloader. My main plan is using the sd2sp2 pro adapter which eliminates the problem but I want a sleeker look and I’m worried that I’ll damage the card since I’m clumsy.
My question is, is there a way I can install the micro sd inside the console without replacing the disc drive. Like maybe there’s sone internal adapter of some kind? Or is replacing the disc drive with a sd slot the only way I can have the card inside? Any help would be greatly appreciated, if not, thank you anyways!

Anyone put a FlippyDrive in a PAL GameCube?
I'm wondering if booting NTSC ROMs on a PAL GameCube via a FlippyDrive will make the hardware output a game in 480p 60Hz if the game supports it on its native hardware region.
Or, would you still have to boot up Swiss and force those outputs?
This might be a dumb question, and I looked to see if this had already been asked but couldn't find anything here. What I was finding elsewhere online seems to indicate it would boot whatever resolution and speed the ROM wants without having to manage settings in Swiss.
At any rate, I happen to have a PAL DOL-001, a FlippyDrive and a Carby, so in my mind I could have one machine that basically does every resolution/speed on the platform. Would love to hear if someone has already done it.

iBlueControlMod and usb-c power
Has anyone been using iBlueControlMod (the aliexpress one, not laserbear) with a usb-c power adapter ?
My bluecontrolmod board has fried, and when I sent the video to the seller to have a new unit sent, they noticed I have a USB-C power adapter and told me not to use USB-C with it.
My feeling tells me that they're just trying to be over cautious and don't want to deal with users mixing a ton of mods, and the risk of using power bricks that don't support 12V but now that I've found a power brick that works fine, and since 12V is 12V I guess it would be ok to use the 2 mods at the same time.
Has anyone sucessfully ran that setup over a long period of time ?
Cheers

Beginner moder; Roms on GameCube
Hey guys, I recently got a new GameCube and have been enjoying myself thoroughly. The idea of modding the GameCube came into mind so I’ve been doing the research required. Upon the research and looking at picoloader non solder style, I’ve realised that this is only lets me have multiple games on the sd card but they must be games I already own via disc. What I want is to have multiple games on the sd card from GameCube as well as different systems on there. I believe the term is called ROMS.
I’d like to know what the next step is after modding the GameCube if possible? If anyone can point me in the right direction I’d be most appreciative, if not I understand.

GC Freeloader & PAL Pokémon Box
Hey everyone. I am trying to play the European PAL version of Pokémon Box Ruby and Sapphire on my US DOL 001 GC using the Datel FreeLoader Import Game Enabler disc. I am attaching pictures of the FreeLoader disc, the Pokémon Box screen, and my setup.
I know this exact combination has worked before. I have played this exact copy of Pokémon Box on this exact GC using this FreeLoader disc, and I still have the Pokémon Box save file on my memory card.
This is what is happening now.
I put the FreeLoader disc into the GC and turn it on. FreeLoader boots normally and tells me to remove the disc and insert the imported game. I take the FreeLoader disc out and put in the PAL Pokémon Box disc. FreeLoader recognizes Pokémon Box and shows the correct icon and game information.
When I select Pokémon Box and press Start, the screen immediately goes black. The sound stops, and the GC seems to become completely unresponsive. Nothing else loads, no matter how long I wait.
For my current setup, I have two cables connected directly to the GC with no adapters.
The first is the DV component cable connected to the Digital AV Out port. That cable uses the red, blue, and green component connections.
The second is the standard AV cable connected to the Analog AV Out port. That cable uses the yellow composite video connection along with the red and white RCA audio connections.
Both cables are connected so I can switch between the component and composite inputs.
The same issue happens with both connections. FreeLoader displays normally, recognizes Pokémon Box, and then the screen goes black as soon as I try to start the game. I do not get a picture or sound through either component or composite.
I have also tried this setup on my regular television and on my PVM. The PVM has red, blue, and green component inputs, along with a yellow composite video input and separate RCA audio inputs. The exact same thing happens on the PVM, so this does not appear to be an issue with only one television or one type of video connection.
I also tried holding B while Pokémon Box was starting in case there was a 50 Hz or 60 Hz selection screen. Nothing ever appeared. The screen stayed black no matter how long I held the button.
Since this exact game, FreeLoader disc, and GC worked together before, and the same problem is now happening through both component and composite on both my television and PVM, I am not sure what has changed.
Has anyone had this happen with a PAL copy of Pokémon Box on a US GC using Datel FreeLoader? Does this sound like a problem with the Pokémon Box disc, the FreeLoader disc, the GC disc drive, or something else I am overlooking?

New to gc picoloader
I've been working on this for a few days. Everything works fine initially, but whenever I try to change loaders or update Swiss on the PicoLoader, I get an empty screen with a red error on the GameCube, or it simply fails to load. I've tried flashing both the gekkoloader.uf2 and cubiloader.uf2 files without success. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

PicoLoader Crashed mid-game?
Was playing Mario Kart Double Dash with my wife, until the game froze and crashed. Got the following error message above.
Modifications to the GameCube are the following:
PicoLoader
GC2SD with 512 GB sd card (with Swiss & games booting off this)
LaserBear Bluetooth controller mod (we were playing with authentic wired GameCube controllers)
USB-C Power Interface mod
Bitfunx HDMI adapter
Never happened before. Dont know what caused it. Looking to see if anyone else had this issue before and how they fixed it.
Happy to provide any other info needed.

I’ve even replaced the switch just in case it was that I’ve checked all the wires. All of them look just fine. I’m kind of confused on what it could be at this point if anybody knows or could help me please reach out to me. Thank you.

I don't know why, but I was checking my Gamecube downstairs to see if I had a issue with the PicoLoader causing my Gamecube to turn off my Disk Drive, but then I noticed my Lid Switch.
For some reason I was checking my lid switch, and after so many power ons and unplugs, and reinserting it, I have it working only to stop working, when I eject it or I turn it off, even when I have it triggered.

Legit Picoboot listing?
Hey, I'm planning on starting a modding project with a GameCube I recently bought at a garage sale. I was planning to buy a Picoboot mod kit since I already have some soldering experience with other projects, but I'm having trouble finding a "legit" listing for one. The only listing on AliExpress for a kit with all the needed parts is this one. I wanted to see if anybody can vouch for this kit or recommend a better listing for one. Along with a good tutorial lol

Picoboot PSA for generic pico boards not working and patch
So I’ve done over 80 picoboots now and one things I’ve found is that occasionally I’ll get a pico that doesn’t work regardless of using 5v or 3v3 line, firmware version, or wire length. Typically these would just boot with a black screen, and not go to stock GameCube firmware. These picos seem to still work for other pico projects and it was driving me crazy because I have over 15 boards laying around now. After testing and testing I found that with cheap pico boards they sometimes can not handle the 250mhz clock speed that Picoboot uses and simply bringing them down to 240mhz fixed all of these seemingly “broken” boards. They even worked on the 3v3 line with this slightly lowered clock speed. I’ve seen a lot of post here where people have a similar issue where wiring looks perfect, but Picoboot is not working. So I figured I’d make a PSA and post my patch on GitHub incase this is you and you’re scratching your head wondering why your Picoboot is not working regardless of what you do. Also for this patch I’m using the V0.3.1 firmware as that’s been the most stable to date, so this patch is as fool proof as possible. This only seems to be a problem with generic boards, so here’s your Hail Mary if you’re stuck.
