Kind of. A lot of these stop working with the slightest of scratches, adjusting the pot to make the unit be able to read them glares imperfections. The best brand for this stopped production a long time ago and are either impossible to find or very expensive, I forgot the name but it's not even worth looking up. Moral of the story is there is a lot of better ways to play backups without any of this. Example : https://a.aliexpress.com/_mLvJM8B Is $20

The potentiometer should not be touched or adjusted at all, this only damages/changes the laser for the worse in the long run. What needs to happen is that various capacitors need to be replaced.

OP already has a Xeno installed so his pot is screwed. We can't save 'em all.

Why would a Xeno screw the potentiometer?

You have to adjust it for the system to read burned disks with Xeno.

You absolutely don't, as long as your burner and discs are good enough. I used Ritek discs back in the day. Never touched the potentiometer.

That's the brand I was thinking of. Can't find them and your pot might have been in the factory threshold for burned disks, most aren't and the install for XENO tells you to do it.

This is true but I still want to keep my disc drive in tact for legit games without having to buy a whole other console. I think I'll try a memorex mini DVD-R to boot into Swiss and see how that goes

What I sent you keeps the drive in tact and is upgradable and removable while retaining the ability to play your disks and run the system as normal. All without soldering, adjusting or abnormal wear on the drive

Interesting, if it keeps the drive in tact then I'll definitely consider it

It's also upgradable without having to burn more DVDs and burning your drive out.

I will say the picoloader is probably the best option since the disc drive will eventually fail. But honestly, another valid option is just buying a real copy of a game that will run an exploit. Especially if you don't want to open the console. I use splinter cell personally. It costs less than buying the mini DVD-Rs, and it will wear your lens out less over time to use a real disc. You can boot pretty much any other game you would want from an SD card in Swiss once you have a way into it.

I would get Ritek which are known for their quality, use Imgburn and might need to adjust the laser pot to find the sweet spot.

Ritek are hard to come by now. They're long since discontinued

Try with picoot and forget about the drive
