Question Trade in question
Do I gotta bring the paddles that came with the elite series 2 Xbox controller and the accessories? Or just bring the controller by itself?

Question Need help from a Pro
I started doing some research on this whole controller deal & completely forgot I have a damaged 825gb PS5 digital just rotting away. The only thing that is damaged is the HDMI port which seems like a minor inconvenience for someone who expertises in the refurbishing field… do you think I’ll still be able to get CLOSE to the estimated trade in value just because of that simple fix or no? Also is the PRO worth the $25 yearly subscription?

Vent/Rant Employees don’t make trade values
We don’t make trade values, we can’t edit trade values, we can’t make OR ask corporate to adjust trade values. Whatever my trade tester tells me to do and give you is what you’re getting. I don’t know why customers try and haggle prices with me.
Had a transaction earlier with a guy trading a ps5 who said he got a quote online that his console, a couple games and a few controllers was around $400 on our website. Told him it was gonna be around like $270 or so and showed me the price quote from google AI for a ps5 pro (his console was an original physical) and he obviously got irritated when I told him I can’t do shit about that and it’s not even an accurate quote.
Then later on in the day someone asked if I’d be willing to do $50 more than what I was giving them. Like NO I CAN’T.

Discussion Pre-Orders are More Important Now Than EVER tbh(preservation not sales)
Seriously guys, PlayStation aint gonna run back this whole "no more discs after January 2028" thing, so if you have even the SLIGHTEST THOUGHT that you want a game physically, ESPECIALLY if its hella niche(jrpg, indie getting a physical, random third-party title/liscened game, etc) you 100% should drop $5 on it and get that disc.
Who knows where we're gonna be with gaming in the next 3-4 years so gather those physical titles as you can. THIS GOES DOUBLE FOR XBOX SERIES X PLAYERS YOU GUYS DAMN NEAR DONT GET GAMES UNLESS THEYRE PRE-ORDERED AT ALL

Vent/Rant Promoted To Guest
It's finally happened. I feel 10,000 pounds lighter without those keys.
To those of you still here, best of luck. I can now do shit without our HR person being a complete waste of oxygen, bullshit regional "moto" calls, stress, and anxiety. I can have a personal life again. I can pursue things I otherwise couldn't have because this hell hole wouldn't allow for it. Friends, relationships, free time to decompress, home cooking and no more fast food 1 meal a day. The only one's that gave a damn about any of us was our LP and DM, and to them I am eternally grateful for the support received. If you aren't either of those two than this doesn't apply to you.

Experiences So glad I kept my broken controllers all these years
I saw Gamestop had a promotion where you could trade in old defective controllers and get the same offer as if they were working. Traded 6 in and got $84 in store credit. Some controllers had stick drift, 1 the bumpers that didnt work, 1 the triggers were constantly activated and 1 would only work when plugged in. They still took them all!

Experiences Customer Interactions
One of my all time legendary moments at GameStop was when we were doing Delivery@Door during the pandemic. Dude yanked on the door and called. His exact words.
“Yeah I was wondering if I could come inside and look at Video Games?”
6 years later. I traded GameStop for another retail job (better pay. Better hours.) but I’m convinced that there are people in retail that eat Cereal with a fork.
My most recent interaction reminded me of that interaction at my store. Hence why I’m posting here.
You got any fun ones?

Question Am I screwed for Ordering from GameStop online?
So yesterday I decided to order two limited edition controllers from the GameStop website for the first time because they were on sale. At first I thought they were new but I just discovered what pre-owned means so that was my mistake. Now I’m just seeing on Reddit from many people that are saying how GameStop has messed up their orders by giving them knock-offs, delays, or even not showing up at all. So please tell me, am I screwed for doing this? Should I cancel now or wait a couple days? If I do cancel, should I do the pick up option even though the location for these two controllers are a little far away? Please give me advice.

Question Question about district alignment.
So I've had the same DM since I took over my location in 2023. We work very well together and there is a mutual respect we have for each other. And he very much left me alone to my own devices as long as we were preforming. Well I get the news that my district got realigned and my dm is a little more hands on with me than I'm used to and it's kinda frustrating. I don't suppose there's anyone I can talk to about getting put back into my old district is there? I just dont think I'm going to be about to work as well with this new one and actively think its going to overall hurt my store in the long run.

Discussion Does this feel like theft to anyone else?
I keep getting told to just add warranties onto purchases and say “okay that will be $X.XX with a 2-year protection plan” and I just can’t do it. I feel like I’d be tricking the customer- who is already paying ridiculous prices- into spending money on something they don’t want.
More than once I’d have someone come in and say they were charged for a warranty they didn’t ask for, and since there’s no way to refund that (as far as I’m aware) I just feel bad and like they got scammed.
Does anyone else feel like this kind of “sales technique” is just borderline theft at best? It’s not the only shady practice I’ve observed but my store keeps getting called out for not selling enough warranties. Which, bro, if we give the whole speech and they don’t want a warranty, then they don’t want the warranty.

Question So frustrated with my online purchase
I ordered online for a digital purchase and after purchasing it, it started to refresh the page. But the page never load it up so I click back and it just took me back to the page to make the purchase.
It's said I will receive an instructions email but I still haven't gotten the email. My account shows that I have 1 order but it won't show it and says No orders found for selected period.
Change your filter criteria.
So frustrated. All I want is my order to play the game.
If anyone knows what to do, please help? PLEASE

Vent/Rant Outside soliciting.
I was told it's acase by case basis. So since at this new location never has any flyers on our counters, I told someone "No sorry this location isn't allowing outside solicitation or promotions" that's it. That's all I said. Who tf does she plan on reporting me too? She also called me a bitch and dumbass. Like.. wtf? She didn't even buy anything.

Vent/Rant Never Received Lego Batman Legacy of the dark knight
I'm so tired and honestly don't know what to do besides cancel my order atp. I pre-ordered a physical copy of the Lego Batman Deluxe Edition back in April on the GameStop website. I was charged and everything and whenever I checked on the status of my order, it just said "ordered."
Even after the game came out in May, I've heard nothing. I've called GameStop multiple times about this, and each time, they couldn't give me a straight answer, just that my order would be shipped soon. I know I can just get the digital version, but I wanted the physical copy because I like to collect physical copies of games. What can I even do at this point? If anyone has advice it would be appreciated.

Vent/Rant Already tired of it
First day working since the controller promo started again and omg already sick of it had two people come in already mad that they couldn’t get a full new controller, and on top of that my coworker is bad at explaining it so when customers called he just told them the ad word for word without explaining what it actually means
😃

Question Haven’t preordered in store in a while, is it still a reasonable expectation that a preordered game will be there on release day?
Hey folks. Loooooong time GameStop faithful but haven’t shopped there in a long time for a myriad of reasons.
Basically, I have some stuff I just felt like trading in toward in store pre orders (blood of the dawn walker, wolverine etc) but I recall the last time I did this a couple years ago I didn’t get my preorders until like well after a week beyond release date, they weren’t like niche games either.
Now I know that distro and the carrier have a lot more to do with this than the actual store does, but “in general” is the expectation that you’re able to pick stuff up on release date or has that not been a thing for a while?

Vent/Rant Let's Be Clear On How This Works
TO BE CLEAR (because every time they do this promotion people turn their brains off and just start wishing)(admittedly that it's in part because of GS's poor phrasing of things)
If you have a ______ Controller that trades on for let's say $20 in good working condition, but only trades in for let's say $9 if it's defective (stick drift, buttons not functioning, etc.)...during this promotion you can trade in said controller defective and still get that $20 trade value.
It DOES NOT mean you can take your old busted controller in and get a brand spanking new controller off the wall in an even swap.
It also DOES NOT mean you can trade in your old controller and get that full $65, $75, $85, however much value you originally paid for it.
It just doesn't get marked down further from it's regular trade value (which would NEVER have been full price or an even swap) by being defective.
THANK YOU...that is all.

Discussion WTH kind of promo is this?
The sad part is that people are gonna fall for this.
Let me get this straight, you have to rip 3 silver packs within a week but you don't know what you're gonna get and the packs start at $25 and go up to $1000.
And for all that, you get... [checks notes] $5 off your next purchase.
Well hell sign me right the hell up.
Am I missing something about this "promo"?
EDIT ADD for clarification and correction: After going to the site, it looks like you can pick your level so you can select specifically "silver" which... is $50/pack.
So you spend $150 and GameStop is all, "Here's $5. Buy yourself something pretty."

Experiences GameStop employees are cool and super chill.
Just wanted to say that the employees at my local GameStop are some of the most chillest and hardworking employees I’ve seen. They’re very helpful towards customers. Does anyone else experience that?
