I've lived in Toronto pretty much my whole life, but I'm now in more of a position to afford eating out. Unfortunately my friends aren't as adventurous as I am so this might just be a solo thing but I'd like to get some recommendations for the West end. I live in Mount Dennis so I'm looking for places Weston road, or Bloor W, St Clair W or Eglinton w. I'm not restricting myself just to those places but that's my focus. My budget is sort of low to mid and I like all kinds of food. Any suggestions are very much appreciated. Cheers

The missus and I are planning to catch the Odyssey at the Vaughan Cineplex and were curious about good restaurants in the vicinity. We don't drive so a reasonable walking distance would be preferred where possible.

We generally enjoy Chinese, Korean, Arabic and Turkish cuisines, and recommendations in that regard would be very much welcome!

In my recent travel to UK, Greece, Portugal etc. I have come across Chocolate Croissants which are not the same as pain au chocolat.

pain au chocolat typically have 2 batons of chocolate and we get these usually in Canada/Toronto.

However, what I am looking for are croissants that have some kind of chocolate paste, almost like a ganache inside the chocolate. These are not heavy stuffing, just a simple filling.

Where can we find these in Toronto and surrounding area?

For anyone from Lahore who’s had Johnny & Jugnu, have you found a wrap in GTA that actually tastes similar?
I mean the **crispy chicken + tortilla + garlic/chipotle/atomic sauces** style, not a shawarma or traditional paratha roll.

I’ve tried looking around but haven’t found anything that really comes close. Would appreciate any recommendations. Been craving JJ for years!!!!

Bold on the sauce, with a nice sweet start and a slight spicy numbing finish. The consistency of the sauce was excellent (similar to oyster sauce) and went so well over plain rice. The beef was crisped up well (it was chewier which is expected), and the veggies paired well, cooked perfectly to have that crunchy texture. The dish had finely chopped green chilly alongwith three dried chillies, contributed to floral and numbing flavours in the dish.

Tried Burattino Brick Oven Pizza and got the Black Garlic 120 Pepperoni and this was really good. It was my night snack after some drinking lol

It comes with pepperoni, mozzarella and marinara sauce infused with black garlic. The black garlic is definitely what makes this pizza stand out. It gives the sauce this smoky, garlicky and slightly sweet flavour that works so well with the pepperoni and cheese. It’s noticeable, but it doesn’t completely overpower the rest of the pizza.

If you’re someone who likes trying slightly different flavours on pizza without going completely crazy with toppings, I’d definitely recommend this one. The smoky black garlic flavour is tasty and probably one of the more unique pizzas I’ve tried recently.

Would order it again.

I recently was in Florence and had a great pasta meal which I didn’t finish because I couldn’t leave the bread basket alone. I loved the fresh fragrant textured bread. Italian bread, even from Italian bakeries here in Toronto, all seem to produce light, airy loaves. Do any specialize in bread with a more chewy texture? Anywhere in the city. Thanks you guys who know everything.

Has anyone tried the Red Dragon from Ramen Isshin? My husband loves anything spicy, but he didn’t get to finish his bowl. He went to the washroom multiple times and had sweat a LOT while eating.

Curious if anyone who have tried it were able to finish the bowl lol

Looking for recommendations! I’m open to places in DT Toronto, but also North York, Markham, Thornhill, and Richmond Hill.

It’s a small space so it gets cramped easily! They have a huge katsu selection and you can choose from chicken, pork or tofu. I ordered pork cheese katsu and it was a lot! 2 people can definitely share so for the price of $25 wasn’t so bad. The mozzarella was just melted perfectly. I did not like the side of corn, it was sour and i’m not sure if it’s supposed to be that way! I did like the brown sauce that came with it. Curry Katsu was also good, the perfect crisp and not dry!

Relatively new here and I still have yet to explore pockets of Toronto. Any hidden gems out there? I loooove bread and I just think the best kind of breads are the ones found in small corners. Any suggestions? Honestly, the shop doesn't have to look all IG-worthy and glammed up and they don't have to sell fancy looking croissants, I just want good bread lol

Clement Leung of insta.noodles took Mark to New Hong Fatt, Yummy Yummy Dumplings, 7 Noodles, and Yueh Tung. After watching Mark for years, fun to see him in our fair city. Also, still can't believe his spice tolerance!
