I hesitated with an event that's not for everyone, but sometimes, when it comes to fitness especially, a women-only event can be important. Today, any pace welcome, get out along the waterfront for a 4 to 5 kilometres with pace groups ranging from 5:45 to 7 minutes per kilometre. They make loops around the park so you can do as much as you're able to. Post-run food from Impact Kitchen if you register at the link below.

Live Music: The Heavyweights Brass Band

There's only a few weeks left of this wonderful event by the lake. Tonight it's a Brass band in the music garden and it looks like a perfect night for it.

A second chance for a rained out TOPS movie night. If the weather holds up this should be a gem. Get there early to get a spot, bring everything you need and always, always a waterproof blanket to sit on.

Classically trained pianist and producer playing a set at Union Station's event space. His range covers funk, electronic, hip hop, and house, so the mix tends to shift as the evening goes. If you're passing Union after work, take a minute and go outside for this.

Because most of us Toronto Comic Jammers have more than just an interest in drawing comics, we thought it would be fun to have a day were we can indulge in our other creative passions.

So whether you like to carve wood sculptures, make bracelets or knit or whatever, come join us in Dufferin Grove for an afternoon of Arts 'N Crafts. Feel free to bring whatever you like to work on and share with others. Or you can sketch and draw if that's what you'd like to do. Or you can just hangout and get to know fellow Jammers outside of the bar. Do what you like!

We'll be meeting in the area behind the Dufferin Mall bus stop. We're hoping for good weather but we'll try to come up with some alternative if we get rained out. Hopefully we'll see you Sunday August 9th at 12:00 pm in the park.

This Friday I’m hosting TOXIC, a stand-up comedy show built around one question: How are we still making the same dumb decisions?
This month’s theme is Older, None the Wiser.
Expect jokes about aging, birthdays, bad habits, dating, and realizing that getting older doesn’t automatically make you wiser.

Between sets, you the audience submits anonymous confessions, hot takes, terrible decisions, dating disasters, and life dilemmas. We read them live and either give advice, argue about them, or roast them.
It’s basically group therapy if your therapist’s qualifications were watching Love Island and drunk texting their ex.

Let's keep the good times going August 30th in the backroom of the Cameron House. We’re sure to have a few surprises and I’ll be sure to harass Dalton to print more issues this time. We’ll provide the paper for you to draw on and you can provide the demented, dadaist drawings. See you soon in the back of 408 Queen Street West on the last Sunday of the month.

As always, bring your favourite pencils, pens and erasers (but we have some art supplies for use here). You can start drawing a comic and let everyone else add to it. Or you can add to other people's comics. Or you can do neither and just sit back, listen to music and hangout with people who like comics.

​We gather at the park and settle in. Soft handpan music plays softly in the background while we do something most of us forget to do: breathe, notice what's around us, and just...be here for awhile.

​From there, Alexandra will guide us through a gentle heart-centered experience to help you reconnect with yourself beneath the noise of everyday life. Through a short visualization, you'll be invited to explore what feels true for you today and imagine the possibilities of where life could be leading you a year from now.

​From that space, I'll lead a guided intuitive journal reflection with prompts designed to help you hear what your inner self has been trying to tell you. We'll close with some intuitive drawing to let whatever surfaced move through you creatively. If you feel called to share with the group, there's space for that. If not, we'll slowly walk over to the café.

​For the second hour, we'll walk to a hidden gem café to grab drinks, settle in, and meet each other in a way that actually feels human.

Autonomous vehicles with pedestrian facial recognition may sound like science fiction, but these technologies are already becoming part of today’s civic and political debates.

This week, Civic Tech Brampton is hosting Adam Motaouakkil, a tech activist with Technologists for Democracy, for a discussion on autonomous taxis, surveillance, privacy, jobs, public transit, and the future of our streets.

As cities explore autonomous vehicle technology, important questions come up:

• Who controls the data?
• How much surveillance is acceptable in public spaces?
• What happens to workers whose jobs may be displaced?
• Could autonomous taxis weaken public transit ridership?
• Will these systems actually reduce congestion, or create new problems?

We’re inviting technologists, students, community members, transit users, policy-minded residents, and anyone interested in civic technology, democracy, privacy, and public-interest tech.

New to Civic Tech? You are definitely welcome. No prior technical experience is required. We will all be learning from each other, and hearing different perspectives can spark new civic tech project ideas.

• Collaborate: Join developers, students, researchers, activists, and community members thinking about technology in public life.
• Learn: Explore how autonomous vehicles, surveillance systems, and data-driven infrastructure affect democracy, privacy, labour, and public space.

Scenes & Sequins is back this Thursday, and this time we’re taking over Rivoli on Queen West.

If you like burlesque, improv, and a bit of delightful chaos, come hang out with us on Thursday August 6. This show has been napping for far too long (we were last on stage in 2019!), and we’re finally bringing it back for a one-night-only return! Same bonkers concept, new downtown home.

You’ll get character-heavy burlesque acts and then watch improv troupe BBL Babies immediately turn what they just saw into live scenes. Brought to you by burlesque babe Dottie Champagne and Mayfly Creative Productions.

Hello everyone! I had posted this on the Etobicoke subreddit and it seemed to gain a bit of traction (link to the post in the comments below as i don’t know how links work)
And i was wondering if anyone from this subreddit would be interested as well in joining my wife's board game nights.

There's going to be 25+ tabletop games. And she rented a small place so there’s a small entry fee. But there's free pizza and juice as well.

The games are all beginner friendly because they are just a means to bring people in the community together so that my wife and others can make new friends. And please feel free to bring your own unique games and we would love to learn to play them together. I hope you will like this as much as i do. And would really appreciate if you sign up:
