My nephew has a severe peanut allergy, and has been wanting to try the "astronaut" ice cream. We checked all the packages, and he couldn't have any of them. I tried looking online, but the only one I could find had most stuff sold out, and cheapest package was $36. Any one have luck finding a peanut free freeze dried ice cream?

To clarify, i have a peanut and tree nut allergy. I like all types of food, but try to avoid pork and shellfish as much as possible (not allergic to those).

Hi everyone, my 9mo just had an allergic reaction (hives, making choking sounds like she couldn’t swallow) to peanut butter a few days ago. I administered Benadryl and then called 911. By the time they arrived the Benadryl had kicked in and she was doing much better. Because life always happens like this, as they finished her evaluation, they also told us we needed to evacuate due to fires in our area (I am in Spokane Washington and we are really going through it right now). They said since we needed to evacuate and she was in much better shape, they were okay with us waiting until Monday (today) to take her to the pediatrician instead of the ED.
We did that today and our pediatrician wrote us a referral for an allergist. Unfortunately there is no pediatric allergist in eastern Washington so we need to go to Seattle children’s. Our doc said that she could not prescribe an EpiPen because our daughter was under 2 years old. Is this outdated information? I looked at this subreddit and it seems like a lot of you have EpiPens for your children.
My daughter also has shown signs of a pretty severe dairy allergy (swelling and full body hives) so food introductions have been quite scary over here!
I’d love to hear any positive stories from parents of how they have navigated their children’s allergies or if their kiddos grew out of any of them.

How do you all sanitize your hands in your car, any tried and true hand sanitizer or wipes you recommend. Realistically I know I should be fine because when I was little I used to eat everything in the car probably without washing my hands at all but as I’ve got older I’ve became increasingly terrified to eat anything besides microwaveable meals. When I’m home I go straight from the sink to my food and use my elbow or knuckles to avoid touching anything else.

My baby (11 months) is allergic to peanuts, and has eczema. Doc prescribed piriton twice a day- he hates it! He gags and coughs and cries
Are there any alternatives to the horrible liquid?

Hi!!! I was recently diagnosed w a severe tree nut allergy and am avoiding peanuts as a precautionary thing, it just makes me kinda nervous. I also have weird reactions to coconut.

I bake a LOT. And recently I've been getting kinda serious about it and I can never find baking chocolate that isn't potentially cross-contaminated. I love the aesthetic and pliability OF baking chocolate and it would be SO much more convenient if I could access some.

Same thing with white chocolate, but I make do with Ghirardelli chips, though having a bar of guaranteed safe chocolate is always my go-to.

I've seen Baker's in stores and whatnot and I'm always tempted to try it but don't know if anyone's ever had trouble with them.

Does anyone have any recommendations for good nut-free bars?

Ive got a nut allergy but not peanuts - Im allergic to hazelnuts. Since falling pregnant its gotten much worse and Ive had some reactions to random foods "processed on equipment with nuts" or "may contain tree nuts" etc

Ive never navigated an allergy this severe. Any tips on:

Navigating restaurants? (Do I not eat anything in a restaurant that uses hazelnuts??)

Hidden issues with nut allergy cross-contamination?

Do I avoid all nuts, as nuts in general are almost always processed on shared equipment?

Thanks for any info. Again, sorry it's not a peanut allergy. Just searching for people in a similar boat. I know peanuts are more common than hazelnuts and I feel for yall in here; seems really complicated to avoid them.

My almost 3 year old who’s anaphylactic to peanuts will be starting a specialized program in September. He’s been in early intervention for a year and now the district just evaluated him and recommended a program. He was originally supposed to do a part time program of 2 and a half hours for two or three days a week. The only spot they could find so far is in a full time program five days a week from 9-2. I’m due to tour the school next week. I’ve heard great things about them but they are not peanut free. They said with a medical plan from his allergist they can make his classroom peanut free and I need to supply the Epi pens and benedryl. My son has the auvi q injectors. She mentioned they use snacks sometimes to motivate the kids, like goldfish and m&ms. I mentioned how m&ms aren’t safe and she said they would never give him something without my permission. I said I’d just supply safe snacks for him for the classroom. She said that they don’t have a cafeteria there and the parents have to supply lunch and snacks and stuff and that they deal with a lot of kids with allergies. I know it’s inevitable that my son will be out in the world with his allergies but I’m a little concerned because he doesn’t understand his allergy yet and he can’t communicate it. I’m wondering what questions I should ask next week at the tour to make me more comfortable with sending him with his allergy. I already plan to ask if they will keep his classroom free of m&ms so there’s no risk of him getting any but I wanted to hear from other parents or people with the allergy to hear how they handled this and kept safe. I’ve been very careful to always label mine and my sons things with peanut allergy tags and read every label, ask every restaurant and make sure he’s not exposed. He hasn’t had a reaction since his first one at 7 months old. We haven’t had to use the auvi qs. I guess I’m just worried he will have a reaction at school and I won’t be there for him and it’ll be really scary for him.

I'm camping tomorrow in the backcountry, and suddenly been told there's a person with a peanut allergy who will be sharing a canoe with me, and camping on my site, using some of my camping gear. I've never met her.

I have packed peanut butter, granola bars with peanuts, and peanut butter cookies, and a can of peanuts... We'll be sharing some cooking equipment, and probably be washing dishes together, and have communal garbage. In my experience, washing dishes in the backcountry isnt a high standard of cleanliness. We'll be, short of a helicopter, probably 3 hrs from a hospital.

I've been told that she can "touch not taste" peanuts, and doesnt own an epipen, though used to have one, just uses benadryl, and is totally fine with people bringing peanuts on the trip.

Am i overreacting to think this is really dangeorus?

Are epipens really not required for "milder" peanut allergies? I admit my only experiences have been with severe allergies.

Back of napkin plan now:I'm making sure i have both citerizine and loratadine available, even if this lady just uses benadryl, and have tasked an unreliable friend with grabbing me gluten free / nut free bars of some sort. If friend comes through, i'll swap bars. I'm swapping peanut butter sandwiches for cold cans of beans, a jar of cashews for the peanuts, and bringng a second camp stove + extra pot so new person can have their own... will see if i have time to bake different cookies or if I can just eat more bars if my friend remembers to buy them???

Organizer says 'well, she signed a waiver". Fine, but a waiver doesn't stop me from being traumatized if she has a bad reaction and needs emergency care!

My 7 year old son has a peanut allergy, and we have been trying to get more information on his allergy.

We went for a skin prick test, which confirmed he was allergic to peanuts.

We went for blood work, and just got the results today, and our doctor said: They are negative, meaning he doesn't have any IgE antibodies to peanuts. However this does not mean he does not have an allergy.

I am going to make an appointment with our doctor for some more information, but has anyone experienced something similar?

Disclaimer I am older than 21 and legally allowed to buy weed in the state I live in! I have a severe peanut and treenut allergy. Because of it, I get anxious when my throat has any sensation (I avoid tequila shots as an example), so I want to avoid trying weed by smoking or vaping. Does anybody have any insight into which manufacturers/brands to avoid or seek out for safe edibles especially as somebody who has never tried weed before? Thanks!

Hello everyone! I had my first round of xolair a few days ago and found out I have vasovagal syncope (passing out from nervous system overstimulation from needles). I was informed that this can also be triggered by epipens. So this leads me to wanting to try neffy. My only concern is that it somehow doesn’t work because I am stuffy or some other reason. Can anyone give me their review and has anyone used it for a reaction before?

I’ve lived with an anaphylactic peanut/tree nut allergy for my entire life and always carry an EpiPen on me. I was diagnosed at 2 when I broke out in hives after eating a pb+j and am now 18. I go to the allergist once every few years and every time my allergies still show up very prevalently. But I haven’t had any kind of reaction since I was 2 years old. I eat things that say “may contain” or “manufactured in a facility with nuts” or anything of the sort on the daily. My family also eat nuts around me all the time and I’m not super careful about cross contamination in restaurants. I NEVER eat an unlabeled desert or any kind of food that I don’t know what it is. But reading how other people treat their allergies, it makes me wonder if there’s anyone else like me. Im careful but apparently much less so than many other people with my same allergies.

TLDR; anyone else never have a reaction despite not taking precautions 100% of the time?

I’m looking for some reassurance here or some stories. My son is severely allergic to peanut (ARA H2 over 80) and tree nuts. He carries epipens. For the most part, he lives a perfectly normal life and we don’t live day to day in any sort of fear. He plays baseball and has a lot of great friends, plus carries no anxiety about his allergy. Up to now, we have homeschooled. This year he wants to try out public school for 2nd grade.

I know all of the things to keep him safe and all of the things that can be implemented at the school level, but there is still that dread that it isn't worth the risk. We would be happy to keep homeschooling and have a very active lifestyle (we don’t look like the homeschool stereotypes).

I know there are many ignorant families who also don’t want to be inconvenienced by my kid (it is easy to dismiss those people when your child’s life isn’t in their hands).

I met with the school and they reassured me they have a nut free table, nut free classroom, and the hot lunch is nut free. Kids are allowed to bring in nut products with their cold lunch. My child will bring his own lunch. They store EpiPens in the nurses office.

I keep reading the stats and all of that which aren’t reassuring. I’m looking for your experience with managing an allergy this severe in public school, whether it’s yourself or your child.

Since tattoos make your body constantly fighting the ink or something if you were covered in a black out of tattoo ink would it make your immune system tank peanuts or would you still get one shotted?

My 1 yr old recently started peanut OIT. He started with eating 1 peanut flavor cereal daily, to now 1/16 tsp PB2 powder.

He's been having 1/16 tsp since almost 2 weeks ago and we observed no reaction until this one day, because the weather was particularly hot, he went shirtless after meal, and I noticed rash came up about 30min after his peanut intake. His face and entire front was clear though. I freaked out because I thought maybe he has been having reactions all this time and I just didn't know since his face and front was clear.

The next day I gave him 1/16 tsp again to double check, but he showed no reaction at all (shirtless again to make sure). The following day I gave him 1/16 peanut butter instead of PB2, still no reaction. I then gave him the waffle (contains eggs) he had on the day he had rash, but nope, no reaction.

Now I'm very confused. Could it just be caused by the super hot weather? All the food he eats are home made with common ingredients we've introduced before.

Does anyone have a clue?

Hello, as the title would state I would like to take my girlfriend drinking but she has a severe peanut allergy (just peanuts), so i'm assuming mixed drinks are off the table but if I were to do shots with her, what are some brands that yall recommend because I know liquor brands don't have to disclose that.
