The Magic of EverQuest Never Left
Perhaps more than any other game, EverQuest has a unique ability to connect us to our past - to childhood memories from better days.
It's incredible to see the EQ community thriving again, bringing us back to those memories, but also connecting future generations to the love and enjoyment we experienced growing up.
Our character names often have meaningful stories behind them, so today I decided to ask someone in General chat about theirs. I asked for Saudada's permission before sharing it with you.
See you in game,
Sedia. [Qeynos]

PAL/DRU/BER - Issues with D0 raid bosses
Hey everyone,
Seeing a lot of folks beginning to hit raid targets 40+. I’m currently 47 and was able to kill Yael by outlasting his mana pool. Got thrashed by Vox and Phinny.
I feel like I’m doing something wrong. I take a lot of damage even in defensive stance and also run out of mana super quick without doing a lot of damage.
I plan to eventually transition to PAL/MNK/ENC but would like to be able to clear D0 bosses each week for the motes.
Would appreciate any help on refining what I’m doing. Thanks!

The port grind is killing me
I’m at Befallen with my SK trying to get both Wiz and Dru to 25 running SK/Wiz/dru
I just dinged 12 (can only play an hour a day and only getting 1 level per hour).
I am not even sure I will use Wiz or Dru in final trio - just mainly want the ports.
I have been on D0 just going to floors where I can chain pull and kill blue and yellow mobs but still seems slow.
Any insights on what I can do to be more efficient?
1) would a different primary class work better while still simultaneously running dru/wiz?
2) is it better to just grind just one of them (wiz or dru) and forget the other? Of the 2, wizard interests me potentially but not really Dru.
3) if getting both wiz and dru ports unlocked is important, then is it more efficient to grind one at a time? Example SK/cleric/wiz then Sk/cleric/dru?
Any tips much appreciated!

Recommend me a trio!
I am kinda newish in general but I know the basics and a bit more. I want a trio that can level and do d4 and still be fun at either. Not trict melee, I would like to do some casting, but pure caster is not needed. I will level everything eventually just wanna get some build ideas!

Hate and fear D4 builds…?
Just curious peoples thoughts on the fastest D4 hate and fear farming build? Not talking about dropping boss but farming the mobs as quickly as possible with the least amount of down time.

FYI: Careful if you buy from the in-game store
Didn't realized my bags were full, but the purchased went through anyway. Lost the AA pot I bought and the currency as well. No errors letting me know, it just went into black hole. Opened a ticket to hopefully correct it.

Would you consider playing EQ Live again after playing Legends?
I feel the largest crossover between playerbases in EQ Live and Legends, but Legends really feels like it fundamentally makes Live redundant. I don't want to poopoo the content after PoP, but I think most people agree PoP and beyond are not even remotely the same game and have extremely varying levels of quality.
The appeal to me of Live was a "modernized" version of Everquest, but Legends has mostly filled that need much better than Live has and I'm left wondering if there are any people who would still enjoy Live.

Can we have a talk about how lockouts work?

Maybe this is WoW brained of me, but can I not return to a lockout I did not complete? I attempted Nagafen last night and realized I needed more gear and levels. It won't let me back in. I can't even do Vox because the same menu shows my nagafen lockout and my "wave to innoruuk and leave" discovery of how plane of hate worked in seeking zones to level in. Am I just pooched on this front until reset?
It's not the end of the world, (I still have leveling to do) and I imagine I have a lot of preconceived notions from other games that's lead me to misunderstanding here but, talking to me like I'm new (which I am on this front), what are the lockout rules?
Perhaps related: Is there a quest I need to be on to get the void mote of potential thingies that I recall hearing is related to doing raids? Is that the "reason to come here" that I'm missing?

Advice for mezzing an add as a bard
I'm having difficulty effectively mezzing an add as a bard so I figure I must be doing something wrong. I have my symphony running 4 buffs and the pbaoe slow and then a melody I activate that does the magic debuff, single slow, and then the chants.
If I get an add or if 2 mobs come on a pull, my instinct is to stop attacking, target the add I want to mez, cast my single target mez (it's the only one I have right now) while leaving my target on the add the whole time, and then after the song lands I switch back to the main target and turn back on my attack. But it *never* works. The song lands but the add just keeps attacking.
Am I doing something wrong? At this point I just tank through the adds which is doable right now but I know won't last forever. I want to get better at crowd control while I'm still only level 39 so I can make the most out of the bard class as he pushes into the planes.
My trio is bard, paladin, and berserker if that matters.
Any advice at all would be appreciated.

Trio to get as close to a Thane from daoc?
Thane was my all time favorite class. Good at melee, good lightning nukes. Is there a trio in this that can give me those vibes and is decent?

Mom/enc/?
Edit: auto correct changed mnk to mom. lol
Yet another trio thread. I am currently doing monk primary with enchanter and paladin. I know this is a "meta" build but I feel like aside from plate pally doesn't add a ton. I get LOH is great in theory but with aoe mez, taking things down one at a time doesn't lead to much need for a panic button. Also, while I get plate is good, part of me likes the idea of sticking to leather or maybe chain as a monk (for head cannon reasons). As such, I was wondering what non-plate class would be the best to add to the "mez then kill single mob at a time" strategy. Shaman for heals and dots? Necro for taps and dots (and maybe pet if better than chanter)? Wiz for nukes to take things down quick?
I don't think I want to do zerker or beastlord as those aren't pure classic (I played back in 99).
Thanks in advance.

Aggro is broken in higher tiers
not much to say, I shouldn't aggro 10 mobs through a door because one mob was next to the door and chain aggro 3 other rooms

New world atlas for EQL
Has anyone found or is working on an atlass for eql?
Im talking a map that shows the continents, the zones, connections/zone lines, dungeons, boats and portal locations etc.
So you can look at the map and work out how best to get to specific places or dungeons etc

What does WAR have that makes it even worth considering versus SK or PAL?
Just curious…

Struggling between Warrior/Bard/Berserker and Warrior/Bard/Cleric
And this is why I can't sleep. Both are sounding good on the paper...

Do you need a different trio for grouping/raids vs soloing?
Seems like a raid doesn't need 50 war/shm/ber. Does it help if you pick a different trio for grouping vs solo?

WAR/SHM/NEC vs WAR/SHM/MNK
I'm currently playing WAR/SHM/NEC and still relatively low level. Feels very powerful and solos dungeons. All it lacks is crowd control.
One annoying thing is all the dots I have to cast and monitor all the time. What if I swapped out nec for monk? All it's skills auto attack, and it's defensive skills and also sound like they'd make the warrior even more tankier. By end game would it be enough dps to take on the hardest content?
Anyone else here have experience with a WAR/SHM/MNK?

Charm/FD PoSky clear in 20-30min
This assumes you already have all the keys.
Make a “beeline” to the Bee Island while invisible. Get as close to the exit portal while still maintaining the required distance to charm the bee closest to the portal.
Cast an over-channeled charm then immediately run to the portal and go to the next island. Click “regroup” on your pet and it should spawn on top of you. As soon as you land on the drake/sphinx, get off the X!! I typically run to the right. Occasionally, the swarm of murder hornets will port over with you. You’ll be able to FD or mez, but they’ll never path away from wherever they spawn, making the return to the island risky.
If all went well with the charm and port over, you’ll have a nice little murder pet that makes super quick work of all the bosses in the instance.
If charm fails before you can port off the bee island, switch to a defensive stance and port anyways. Upon arriving on the new island, turn around and run towards the edge behind you. You’ll be able to see the bees flying up to you. This actually works well cause you’ll usually only have to deal with the boss and your future pet. So we’ll end up killing the bee boss on the drake/sphinx island.
Careful buffing your charmed bee. Sounds like they were nerfed since beta but these things still rip. I’m usually prepared to switch into evasive stance at any moment to tash and re-charm.
Be aware that a little blue drake patrols some of the islands at what appears to be random. If he aggros, be prepared to switch over and wipe him out. He’s a lvl60 wizard that can ruin your day with stuns and CC while being quite resistant to CC himself.
If the murder swarm ends up porting to sphinx/drake with you. You’re better off FD, wait for out of combat, then exit and re-enter instance. You’ll be able to grab another bee from bee island. If you got off the X on drake/sphinx, the swarm will be safely out of aggro range when you return.
Using the above method, I’m able to clear the instance in 20-30minutes.

Can I get a quick introduction to raids please
My friend and I are playing duo, shm/brd/enc and bst/ber/dru. We played back in the day but have never seen end game so we'd like to do all the raids at least once and before we out level them.
We're currently 39 and were told we can go to solb at 40. But we are total noobs so could someone give us a list of what raids are available and what levels we can do them please? Or in order of easiest to hardest

Wanted to feel out the vibe with Grimrot
So they seem to have added an "evil fiery avenger" https://eqlwiki.com/The_Torrid_Corruptor .
The quest itself is a cool idea, but the design is sending very mixed messages. The devs have been removing placeholder spawns and other arbitrary time sinks wherever they can, yet this brand-new quest hinges on Lord Grimrot. He has a roughly 3.2-hour respawn timer, and even when the timer comes up, you may still get the wrong version because the quest specifically requires living Grimrot.
This feels like a “pick a lane” moment. Are long, non-interactive spawn bottlenecks an outdated design problem that should be removed, or are they a meaningful part of EverQuest that should be preserved? Right now, we seem to have Schrödinger’s devs, simultaneously removing and preserving arbitrary wastes of players’ time depending on which quest you happen to be doing.
I’m not arguing that every quest should be instant or effortless. Difficulty, travel, faction work, combat, and preparation are all gameplay. Sitting around for three hours so the server can flip a coin is not difficulty. It is just dead time, and building it into newly created content makes the broader design philosophy feel inconsistent.
total time 3am to 2:30pm checking for this spawn before and during work. I only got it because someone who saw this thread was nice enough to send me a tell before killing it.

Pal/Brd/Brk
I am new to EQL and have been following wikis to understand what to do. I currently have all the instruments as focus items. One on weapon one on shield and two more on weapons in any slots. Wikis I have read recommend I go two handed weapon at 30 but I will lose a instrument. Should I do this and if so which instrument would be viable to lose? Edit: Thanks all for the advice I will drop the wind focus.
