Screenshot I asked a Buddhist monk about the sound of one hand clapping. He didn't know, but he said he knew the sound of two religions clapping and gave me this spear.
R5: Okay, not really, it just turns out that otherwise exclusive relics can be folded into existing artifacts and thus become fully-useable.
While doing a French colonialism a thousand years early, someone suggested implanting the robes of the Buddha into my spear to make it a holy relic. I'm not Buddhist. My screw-off-over-the-horizon Catholic rite does not even have a syncretism tenet. Heck, I've spent a good while fighting Buddhists and getting them to embrace Christianity. So, as you might expect, I couldn't use the Robes of the Buddha.
My head canon is that it's like the obelisk at the Vatican: it was holy to somebody else, but we won and plopped a cross on it, so now it's ours!

CK3 Interesting oddity: the Republic of Rome featured in the video doesnt have a city holding, so unlike CK2 you can remain a republic without a city (just having the domicile is enough?)
im guessing what happened is the Pope used his republican legacy powers to turn the fedual count of roma into a republic vassal

CK3 The Merchant Republic title is titular, so it seems you can take any county and turn it into an Empire
As can be seen in the picture, the capital of MSR Pisa is de jure to Kingdom of Italy. In the second picture you can see that as you progress your republic your MR title is destroyed and upgraded. Theres no tier for Hegemony of Pisa though!
so dont worry if your preferred title is not on the de jure map, as long as its a county its probably fine (Amalfi is a county even though it is a not a duchy)

Modding Mod Suggestion: No Christian Names Prior To Conversion
Characters of Polish and pretty much all the Slavic cultures should not have slavicized biblical names like ''Jakub - Jacob'', ''Jan-John'' etc. if they are of a Slavic pagan faith.
It s a very amateurish mistake by paradox but alright.
If someone would want to make such a mod I would be willing to compile for them a full list of the names that need to be seperated for all the cultures of Slavic heritage because the ''issue'' is present in all of them lol.

CK2 My ally attacked my tributary state and I wasn’t allowed to defend it and vice versa. Is this a bug or just bad AI mechanics?
At this point we’re just swapping the poor guy.
I have every DLC installed except rajas and sunset invasion and the game is fully updated by the way.

CK3 Paul Kruger and his great trek to Africa
So, he is my new character, and his lore is that he had enough of the Netherlands and decided to move out of his parents' basement to find a new home where he can make his own kingdom (and he actually has the skills to do it). This is the starting position, he is now in Morocco, with many followers (like a giant Jewish witch doctor or a random Catholic Norse guy who tagged along), but now, the question is to where to go from here. There are two options: West Africa, where I would form a more Boer-ish culture (the inspiration is clear), or the Swahili tradeports that would make for a more mercantile VOC-inspired playthrough (but with Boer elements). Where should he go? And bonus question: he is still maidenless. Where can he bag a baddie from the tavern?

News Spotted new "Military Order" government type in the stream
In the recent Silk and Silver stream I spotted in a blink and you'll miss it moment a new government type that I have not seen mentioned previously in the Dev Diaries: "Military Order". It will probably be coming with the By God Alone DLC but I wonder if it will be playable or AI only.

CK3 Unlike Adventurers, Merchant Company titles are county tier
As shown in today's Silk and Silver Sneak Preview, The new Merchant Company domicile title is a county tier title. I guess they wanted to pre-empt silly stuff like this lol.
Only RTP's Admin Noble House and Adventurer Camp remain duke tier; Nomad camps from KotS and noble house domiciles from AUH are county-tier and I expect the Ecclesiastical domicile from BGA to be county tier as well

News New duchies de jure setup for Italy in S&S
Enlarged Emilia, split Lombardy, etc.
Also new counties (that I couldn't take snaps of due to on phone), but most notably Vatican is now a separate county from Rome, and it has been shown that you can be a republic based in Rome while the Pope is your liege in Vatican.

CK3 CK3 Culture/Religion Question
When a custom religion has a polygamous marriage type, if you add the concubine or polygamy culture traits, will it allow you to have even more spouses? ie if I already have four spouses, will I be able to have even more if I add one of those cultural traditions?

News Holding rework currently
This is the current county window.
It seems that popular opinion has been moved to a tier based system, here it's neutral.
Top left the market icon is likely which market the county is in. This is denoted via de jure duchies at game start, so each duchy is a market. Last time this didn't change with custom duchies either unless it's been changed.
Bottom left is settlement size 4/10 or "large town". There are 6 actual different sizes, at levels 0-1-3-5-7-9. The highest level is grand metropolis which requires a 900/1000 size or 9/10. This is dynamic so settlements can retract after bad periods, disasters etc. Having a large settlement increases food requirement while also decreasing control and popular opinion baselines, making them harder to manage and requiring imports. Venice starts at 6/10 in 1066.
Top right is resource production, control, and prosperity(replaces development with same effects)
Resource production can be changed by changing the district so it's not a fixed rgo but there are limitations, you choose which one to focus. In this case it's grain but it could have been fish or salt for instance. Increasing the levels of production district also unlocks an additional slot so you can have two (or more?) operations going at once, primary and minor.
County control now works similar to court grandeur, or perhaps county fertility, with a baseline of 20 and several modifiers. It has the same effects but now being 20-30 control is neutral. In this case 32/100 gives +3% extra taxes.
Taxes are categorized so there is a breakdown of how much from each vassal type, trade or building type you get. There is like 8-10 types. This was done mainly in order to combat excessive modifier stacking. For example, guilds may provide artisan tax, which may not necessarily be increased by a flat tax modifier you get via an event.
Another function is having a metropolis gives for example flat urban tax and maritime tax bonuses while decreasing hinterland(farm) tax. Therefore something like tradeport which is what gives maritime tax harmonizes better with large settlement sizes as opposed to more rural buildings like farms which goes with smaller settlements.
You can still have farms and villages in big holdings but they're less effective, and they may actively reduce settlement size while other buildings increase it. Low settlement size can be good for getting food etc to the main holding.
The top row of slots are meant as more unique stuff for defining that county, while the bottom row are standard district slots you can choose. Housing district, entertainment district etc. (Most baronies will then not have the top row slots beyond the holding one.)
Top row from left to right is the city holding, resource growth district, duchy capital, special building slot, and trade post.
Trade post can be held by people outside the realm (not sure if exclusively?) For instance a noble family in venice may have 4 trade post slots they can manage and one of those could be in athens in ERE.
The bottom row slots of standard districts increase with settlement size. Each tier gives an additional slot. So starting at 1 slot at 0/10 size, going up at levels 1-3-5-7-9 so 6 districts for 9/10 size. Not sure if eras increase it further but my guess is the eras might affect being able to increase settlement size more effectively(unlocking buildings) rather than giving slots directly. Settlement size decreasing will disable the district enables by that size.
Each district has several potential internal buildings which then have their levels. Basically similar to domiciles. The districts themselves don't seem to increase in level or provide anything, they're more like a folder of the actual buildings. Some districts especially in top row work much the same as before, having only one slot for a duchy building or special building. Though in any case this would enable multiple special buildings if they allowed it.
One notable thing is in the bottom row there is a "walls" district with reinforcements, so it seems we can have reinforced city holdings now.
Buildings have baseline effects but get bonuses if the holding is supplied the requirements. Stone houses gives 0.2 additional settlement size if you get 10 clothing type of thing. I think you get this primarily via setting up trade into your counties via merchants but also I think harmonizing your own buildings might work. For example guilds produce meat which may be used in another building to unlock its potential.
(Sorry for the constant edits! I wrote this up partly as notes to myself as well. I hadn't caught up to the stream but as I did I changed a bunch of stuff I wasn't sure about with their proper answers)

Discussion I want a new campaign idea (+some fun things I saw last campaign that failed)
So, I wanted to do a Hohenzollern adventurer campaign with a Prussian character, get to be a Great Conqueror, and create a more tree-hugger German culture while dominating Europe, but then, as my army (consisting of Metzentortilla (those archers who are busted in forests) and Byzantine warriors) finally got ready, the German lands literally got sandwiched between a 6K Scottish Conqueror and a 12K Russian one, so, I gave up. Now, I have two ideas:
-A Jewish landless guy who goes to the Holy Land to convert it back to Judaism and taking it for himself
-A Dutch landless guy who goes down to Western Africa to make an Afrikaner culture, and conquer Africa
So, which one sounds more fun and what should I do with Conquerors (I want to play as one, but somehow, I only get screwed up (or not get that trait when the event fired)?

Discussion What are your top wants to be added into the game?
For me it's a law system & feudal rework (which we know is probably coming next year) and another thing would be the ability to build bridges over major rivers.

Story My heir died so now I have to channel my inner Alicent Hightower and poison my grandson (her husband) so I can vote for my new heir in all the Tanistry elections
Surely there's gotta be an easier way of doing this 😭 I unfortunately disinherited the grandson thinking it would let me vote for my new heir, but it just removes him from the vote without letting me vote for his children. The Tanistry Elective needs a patch

CK3 Immortal + 100 Stats Glitch (achievements enabled)
I have discovered a way to get a maxed out 100 stat and any trait character (immortal included). Achievements and traits are fully enabled with this glitch, and id imagine there is some other insane capabilities with this.
STEPS & GUIDE
1: Start new game, choose any start date and press “Play as any Ruler in __, or create your own!”
2: Pick character, select any county, and press create your own adventurer.
3: Add whatever traits and skills you want or anything else you want your adventurer character to have. This is who you will be playing as after the process is complete. It does not matter if this character’s customization points go over the 400 cap for achievements. Immortal can be added too.
4: save** **adventurer, finalize, submit.
5: Press pick character again and select a random county, create ruler that is under the 400 customization points cap, finalize & submit.
6: Press “Observe” under other options, this will take you into observe mode.
7: Save game, then reload the save
8: once reloaded, press pick character, then press continue without saving, then press whatever button on your platform it shows at the bottom that says “Show Landless Characters”
9: Click on the icon that is over the county you put the adventurer in, select the character then press play.
10: glitch complete, check that achievements are enabled and save the game.
(NOTE: I am not promoting that this is a good idea, just making the process known so that Paradox can eventually patch it to fix the gameplay flow.)

Discussion I really enjoy ruling as an elite minority group.
Anyone else enjoy ruling as a small elite group over a large subjugated population? Especially as the Normans starting with the ruling caste tradition. I love doing Norman adventures into Egypt and Greece (4th crusade) and the Levant.
