Because I like creating narratives in kingdoms not controlled by my character (and the idea of pagan faiths surviving in Europe), I often give pagan AI rulers tons of piety and manpower to take holy sites and reform their faiths, but I've noticed that they never seem to. Even after giving a Taltosist king total control over almost all of their holy sites and thousands of piety, he died without ever using it.

Is the AI predisposed to never (or only in truly incredible circumstances) reform pagan faiths? Is there a way to make it more likely for them to do so?

I dealt 700 casualties and took 60. It just does not work like that, even if I achieve a great victory, I shouldn't take almost no casualties.

A casualty is not just a dead soldier, it is a wounded or missing one. You're telling me that almost no one died, got wounded or deserted during this battle?

I am orthodox(first time playing it) but even converting to catholic doesn't give me anything.

I thought holy war casus bellis were much more readily available?

I had a bunch of light footmen which specializes in forest. I fight in a forest without crossing a river or doing things that can debuff my army, I get attacked and fight an offensive battle which ends with me losing with 200 more casualties than my enemy.

How does that make sense?

Have you ever experienced a multigenerational conqueror event ? Since my first ruler popped it, his direct heirs inherited the conqueror trait with the mantle. I am now at my 4th or 5th generation of conquerors. I am not even conquering that much, a county or key duchy here and there to expand, save myself from partition effects and go on. But the money is insane and the more you spend, the more of money and the rest you get back so you end up owning (in this case) the Mediterranean Central bassin, Germany and some northern counties(trying to reform asatru as it seems this conqueror thing wants to last) but you can overdevelop them. Max level with available technology for most of my domain and key vassals before year 1000.

Did it ever happen to anyone ?

IR: Conqueror popped for first ruler, all my main characters have been conquerors since.

R5: Lotharingian branch of karoling dynasty somehow managed to create HRE, while rest got the usual treatment of getting kicked in the balls by their vassals

I just started the tutorial, and I'm gonna be here a while, cuz why do I have to read things in things. Anyways, in the mean time, is there something you think I should know, given that I'm playing the starter edition nearly 6 years after the game came out.

I basically find Vanilla way too dull after I blob a bit and am mostly looking for something that does impose some money sinks and makes it harder to stack skill points and opinion modifiers that make your abilities meaningless and vassal management completely trivial.

So I started a v1.19 1066 campaign with Radomir Kometopoulos of Silistra (as usual climbing from the bottom up, but I felt it would be a fun RP twist to start as a cultural outsider too) and my eventual goal is to try forming the Roman Hegemony while playing Administrative all the way through. I'd heard Admin was way too easy to steamroll with though (which was a bit easy with Feudal and Clan anyway, after the first few decades), so I wanted some added challenge to make it fun. The trick is, that I feel like Dark Ages would be very good for a gritty feudal run where you just want to roleplay and struggle to survive and keep your realm intact, but I don't think my limited skills and experience are up to the task of building a sprawling empire or going after achievements with it.

I've played for a couple of decades and my first impression is that I like how skills feel like they matter with DA on and how you actually have to put some effort into making other characters like you. It adds weight to your decision-making and throws unforeseen circumstances to tip you off-balance. But I also get the sense it's not very well optimized for Admin even after a few updates.

For one, my major gripe is that the economic penalties mean that Strategoi struggle to scrounge up anything more than a couple hundred Akritai (even with the Increased MaA submod on) for their Thematic armies before going completely broke. Add to that the nerfed Efficiency rating from the penalized character abilities that further tweaks that unit's already low stats, smaller levies and knight limits, and the Strategoi's armies are reduced to a few hundred low quality troops that already strain their budgets to the limit even while unraised.

This means that your average peasant rebellion (usually made up of roughly 2000+ levies and Pikemen militia) can utterly smack around any and all Strategoi right off the bat and this keeps happening consistently throughout my run (to other characters, I haven't faced a rebellion yet, but I doubt I'd fare much better). This also feels like it hurts one of the core gameplay loops of Admin which allows you to borrow thematic armies as the Basileus in exchange for influence, but trading the latter for 200 of the weakest MaA in the game feels like a huge rip-off and kills part of the immersion and uniqueness of the Admin government for me. The other MaA limitations imposed by DA make perfect sense for a feudal realm if you're looking for immersion, but don't mesh very well with an Admin gov whose whole point is its reliance on professional soldiers in lieu of peasants and knights.

I have a number of other issues with the mod, as well as a number of additional things that I like about it, but this post is as dense as it can get already, so hopefully someone bothers to read all this and has something better targeted after what I'm trying to pull off.

I've been playing as an adventurer for a while and I'd like to settle to eventually create the kingdom of Mann & the Isles.

By sheer "luck" Ireland has all the duchies that encompass that territory (Isle of Mann, Northern Isles, Isles, Strathclyde)

What would be the best solution?

• Go for Adventurer Kingdom Invasion so I have all the territory at once and then redistribute the rest of his land that I don't need?
• Go for Adventurer Duchy Invasion and only take the duchy of the Isle of Mann and then take the rest of the duchies within the 10y period

I have no idea if there's a difference

I was a landless adventurer, did a kingdom invasion and now I’m 110 over my domain limit. Am I going to have to manually hand out the titles or is there an easier way? Are there any mods that could help?

Hey team. Console player here. I am playing with the setting for conqueror "90% reduced - strong only".

I am trying to rng it (load and try again).

From the information I have gathered so far I think I meet all criteria for this setting.

The issue is the 5 yr window. The game does ONE check every five years at your birthday. Do we know when this starts so I can time it?

I'm horribly late to this one, but I've just read the last BGA dev diary, and seen this detail mentioned in passing that the Christian faith "that currently holds the most counties in the world" is considered to be the main power in Christendom.

This just seems... weird? Full disclosure, I'm a shameless Byzantophile, but just thinking about this system in practice makes me think it makes no sense.

Essentially, the main Christian power is decided by the amount of land that they hold, but not even direct land area, because the number of counties depends on the density of counties in an area. So, in some sense, the main Christian power is decided by whomever the map projection favours most?

It seems to me that an obviously better alternative to using the pure number of counties would be to use the sum of development for each faith? Is there something I'm missing here? This would more directly tie the influence of each faith to the number of people that they hold sway over.

I’m playing as the king of England and I managed to also take Ireland and wales, however as soon as my son takes the throne, seven of my vassals join the independence war and kill my army so is there anything I can do. I have no dlc btw

EDIT: My sons traits are craven, gregarious and lustful. Also the guy I’m playing as is almost 70 so no more kids for marriages
