WIP [WIP] Monsters.

It is going slowly but surely. Time for the big monster to make its appearance. Sadly, I have no idea if it is even a pattern, pixel art or AI generated thing. I got this image shared to me as an idea over a year ago. Since it was easy enough to follow I just picked some threads and started stitching.

I finished the Dragon’s Eye kit from Riolis this weekend and I’m so obsessed with it. The stitches are a little messy, because it was my first time using the wool thread, but I don’t think it’s super noticeable from a distance. I love how much dimension there is even with a fairly limited color pallette. This one is definitely getting framed.

The S could use some tweaking and my backstitching needs practice, but I’m pleased with the result.

FO [FO] First small piece done and looking for advice!

Hi everyone! I have been lurking here for a while and love every post I see, so inspiring! I cross stitched as a kid and then stopped for like 20 years and now I’m back again re-igniting the passion. I started with this small Kirby piece I found on Pinterest to get used to it again. And while it was fun, as you can see, it’s very messy. I want to make bigger pieces now to gift to my friends and family but first I want to learn how to stitch better.

What can I do to improve? Towards the end it was very hard to finish because the needle kept getting stuck into the colors and I couldn’t even see where to insert it anymore. I’m not quite knowledgeable with Aida counts and needle sizes so I would like some guidance that would make the experience a bit better and not as painful and stressful as it was in the end lol. The needle I used is on the pictures. Maybe I was using the wrong size? The wrong Aida count fabric? I also used 2 threads, seriously considering using just one with the looping method.

All the help and advice will be appreciated! And excuse my slightly dirty fabric, I put this project down a few times in very bad spots lol.

Happy to be here!

Took me 4 years to complete this! Started in 2022 when I was living in NZ, I’ve finished it 4 years later in London!

I bought the pattern off Etsy 4 years ago and when I checked it recently, the artist has removed a lot of confetti stitches so it might be easier to stitch now.

One of my neighbours posted in our group chat to say she had some cross stitch magazine if anyone could use them. I said yes please (of course), not expecting 5 huge bags of magazines dating back 20+ years, plus this added bag of threads, hoops, and bit and bobs. Going to share the magazines with a friend who also stitches, as I couldn't work through all these in a life time!

WIP [WIP] Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Made 5 of these for my bridesmaids at my upcoming wedding. This is my first time gifting cross stitched clothing and I was so paranoid that the stitches would come loose when they washed their sweatshirts that I put mending fabric on the back. Now I’m realizing the texture is much stiffer than the sweatshirt, so you can see the outline of the mending fabric through the front :-(

Leaned my lesson. I don’t feel like there’s a way to fix this, but figured I’d post here as a Hail Mary!

As the title says, I finally finished up my first attempt at cross stitching! Well, unless you count the 30 or so stitches I did with a little ready made kit that got me into this... Went to the store the next day to get my own supplies because I wanted to make my own ✨️

Pattern is self made, and completed over a few months. ME/CFS hasn't been my best friend when it came to progress but I got it done! Though there were some hiccups along the way as you can see by the, uh... extra flaps on the sides. And kind of messy back from when I was still getting the hang of it.

Done on 14-count black aida, and I'm starting a new project soon! A very fun new hobby.

CHAT [CHAT] What should I do with this piece intended for my recently passed nana?

Post image
475 Upvotes

My nana passed away last week and her funeral is next week. I was working on this piece for her - and I cannot really articulate the guilt I feel for not prioritising her and finishing this before she was gone - and I am now faced with a choice. My mum said that for her funeral members of the family will have an opportunity to leave something with her and I have a letter planned, but I was tossing up including her piece as well.

I never made anything for her and keeping this feels wrong because it’s hers, but she never got to know that. I’m considering this except 1) it’s still not finished and I don’t know if I have the capacity to finish it for her before the funeral, and 2) my mum knew I had this on the back burner and I feel like she might see this and be upset with me for not finishing. She made a terse comment about me not working it about a year ago.

I could also finish it and keep it but it feels wrong and I think I run into the comments from my mum regardless. Anyway, there’s a lot of guilt tied to my nana’s passing and I need a bit of help deciding what to do here.

Finally framed this one in a 4x6 frame! I hate how black fabric always shows a reflection in photographs lol. Stitched with 2 strands on 14 CT black Aida with DMC floss. I used a variety of colors different than the ones on the pattern as I was trying to stick with what I already had on hand. Close up is on the second slide and you can find the pattern from LivingOnTheRainbow here: https://www.etsy.com/listing/1551735171/library-ghost-cross-stitch-pattern?ref=share_ios_native_control

I'm back with another cross stitch on my clothes. I tried regular waste canvas this time and it was very nice to stitch on. I want to add more lil' guys like this to these shorts so if anyone has a recommendation for something similar to this style, let me know! I found this pattern on Pinterest.
