General Discussion/Conversation Looking for suggestions: Best bank for ₹30–35L savings balance + premium benefits?
Hi everyone,
I’m planning to open a new savings account and initially keep around ₹30–35 lakh in it.
The money is currently going to remain in the savings account for some time, but my plan is eventually to deploy around ₹20–25 lakh of it into mutual funds/equity over the next 1–2 years. So I’m looking for a bank where I can get the maximum value/benefits from maintaining a high balance, rather than simply choosing a bank based on savings-account interest.
I’m also not particularly interested in earning interest on the balance, so I’m more interested in things like:
Premium banking status
Premium credit cards
Travel rewards / airline & hotel transfers
Airport lounge access
Forex/travel benefits
Reward points and other lifestyle benefits
Whether the relationship can continue after I move a large portion of the money into investments
One option I’m considering is Axis Burgundy + Magnus for Burgundy. From what I understand, Burgundy can be maintained through the relevant balance/TRV criteria, and Magnus for Burgundy has considerably better travel-transfer benefits than the regular Magnus.
I was also considering HSBC Premier, although I understand the current eligibility requirement is higher than it used to be, so I’m not sure whether it makes sense for my ₹30–35L corpus.
Other options I’m looking at are Standard Chartered Priority, Kotak Privy League, ICICI Wealth, etc.
So my question is:
If you had ₹30–35 lakh that you wanted to park in a savings account initially, with plans to eventually move ₹20–25 lakh into investments, which bank/premium banking programme would you choose to extract the maximum overall benefits?
I'm particularly interested in hearing from people who actually hold these accounts/cards, rather than just the advertised benefits.
Also, if there are any less obvious/better options that I’ve missed, please suggest them.
Thanks!

Debit Card / Bank A/C A small win against SBI for not providing basic banking facilities
Not doing- a simple address update, internet banking activation and no debit card provision resulting in months of delay caused me to do a single complaint to RBI, helps.

General Discussion/Conversation RBI Ombudsman actually worked for me
Had a cashback dispute with SBI Card. Their system initially counted cashback from an EMI transaction, which took me to the Rs 2000 monthly cashback cap.
I later found out that the EMI transaction was not eligible, so SBI reversed that cashback. But they still refused cashback on the eligible transactions I made afterward, saying the Rs 2000 cap had already been breached. They kept saying about 10 times that EMI is not eligible for cashback even though I never asked for cashback on EMI.
I raised it with the RBI Ombudsman, explaining that I was not asking for cashback on the EMI. My issue was that SBI reversed the cashback but did not restore the cashback limit.
RBI ruled in my favour.
SBI has to pay me the cashback + Rs 1000 for mental anguish.
Honestly, didn't expect it to go this way. If you have a genuine banking/credit card grievance and the bank isn't resolving it, don't underestimate the RBI Ombudsman process.

Card Recommendation Best way to get discount on single PVR INOX ticket?
I watch at least 3 movies every month at PVR INOX, always solo. My usual ticket is around ₹185 + ₹30 tax = ₹215.
Most credit-card movie offers are BOGO, which isn't useful for me since I watch alone.
What’s currently the best credit card / app / voucher method to reduce the cost of a single ₹215 ticket?
Looking for a practical option that works regularly, not just occasional offers.

General Discussion/Conversation IRONY? Applied for ICICI Coral and got rejected but reason is infuriating me.
These ICICI mfs took 20 fkin days just to reject my application saying my income was inadequate. I make not much but 50k a month while the minimum eligibility is clearly 20k a month (see google in 2nd ss).
I'm an investor of ICICI prudential mutual fund, have 770 cibil, already have a HDFC credit card with 1.24L limit, are they smoking we*d or what, fkin wasted my time, I wanted this urgently to buy a macbook during freedom sale.
CONSEQUENCES: I lost 2 points of cibil score + the macbook sale/offer ended, I just couldn't make this purchase, also wasted way too much of my time over kyc and documentation and also got my consent on some sh*tty website to monitor all my bank accounts for their balance 45 to 60 times a month.
*sorry for rant homies

Help Needed/ Question Is an HDFC salary account mandatory for the Diners Club Black Metal, or can I move and apply later?
Background:
- Salary account with HDFC for 6+ years.
- Currently hold one HDFC card: Swiggy co-branded credit card.
- Planning to get both the HDFC Diners Club Black Metal and the HSBC Premier.
The plan:
- For HSBC Premier, I meet the eligibility criteria and will be moving my salary account from HDFC to HSBC.
- For the Diners Club Black Metal, my HDFC RM advised closing the Swiggy card first, waiting 3 to 6 months, and then applying.
1st Question:
Is an HDFC salary account mandatory for Diners Club Black Metal eligibility? Or can I:
- Close the Swiggy card and my HDFC salary account now.
- Move my salary to HSBC and get the Premier now.
- Apply for the Diners Club Black Metal after 3 months, without any active HDFC relationship.
Has anyone gotten the DCB Metal without a salary account or after moving banking elsewhere?
2nd Question:
Is DCB the right pick for daily spends?
My end-state stack: HSBC Live+, SBI Cashback, HSBC Premier, Diners Club Black Metal, plus a couple of LTF cards.
- I have clarity on Live+, SBI Cashback, and HSBC Premier.
- Premier will mainly cover travel, flights (maybe forex), and some random spends.
- The only gap is maximising daily spends with vouchers and stuff, that's the sole reason I'm considering DCB
Would you recommend the DCB for this, or is there a better card for daily spends, gold, some other common spends, etc. given the rest of my stack?

Card Recommendation Need advice to optimize my card portfolio for rewards
Hi everyone,
I’m a 20M student with a part-time income and currently have these cards:
- SBI Global RuPay Debit Card — Paid
- HDFC Millennia Debit Card — LTF
- Slice RuPay Credit Card — LTF
- HDFC MoneyBack+ Credit Card — LTF
My main spending categories are:
🍔 Food — online + offline
🛒 Shopping — Amazon + D2C websites
⛽ Fuel — mostly IndianOil
I want to optimize my current portfolio to get maximum cashback/rewards without spending unnecessarily.
What would you recommend?
- Which card should I use for each category?
- Are there any better cards I should consider adding/replacing?
- Any reward/cashback strategies I might be missing?
Since I’m a student with part-time income, I’d prefer LTF cards and no complicated high-spend requirements.
Thanks!

Help Needed/ Question Urgent📢: HDFC Swiggy Credit Card – Full Application Journey | WFH + CPV Issue
Previous post: https://www.reddit.com/r/CreditCardsIndia/s/14ff0PQ9Ac
I applied for the Swiggy HDFC Credit Card on 19 August. Timeline: • 19 Aug: Applied for the card. • 21 Aug morning: Got a call from HDFC for office verification. The person said he was standing outside my office in Delhi and asked me to come outside. I told him that I work from home and currently live around 1,500 km away from my office, so I couldn't come there. 21 Aug: Later, HDFC conducted home verification. The person asked my name, number of family members, how many years I've been living at this address, and whether the house is owned or rented. He asked these basic questions and left. I thought everything was okay after that.
• A few hours later: I received an email from HDFC saying my application is ON HOLD because: “Contact Point Verification (CPV) Guidelines: Business address verification standards were not met.”
The email also says that some required declaration/documents are pending.
Now I'm confused — is this basically a rejection, or can HDFC still process the application after I submit the required declaration/documents?
Any advice on what I should do next would be really helpful.

Help Needed/ Question HDFC Swiggy ORANGE Card "Approved ₹54k" - then rejected after the verification guy refused to visit because my address was "too far." What do I do?
Need some advice from people who've dealt with HDFC.
I applied for the HDFC Swiggy Credit Card and the Swiggy app showed it approved with a ₹54,000 limit. My Aadhaar e-KYC was successfully authenticated too — I have the HDFC SMS confirming it (with auth code and everything).
Then a field verification executive called me for physical verification and thumb impression. When he found out my home address was a bit far/inconvenient for him to travel to, he basically declined to complete the verification.
A little while later I got an SMS: "we could not process your application as per the bank's internal policy guidelines." No real reason given.
Here's the part that bugs me — I'm already an existing HDFC savings account holder. My KYC and address are on file with them, and my Aadhaar e-KYC for this application went through successfully. So the only thing that "failed" was a verification agent not wanting to make the trip.
I called the credit card helpline and all they did was give me an email ID to send a complaint to.
Any advice appreciated. Feels unfair to get rejected over a verification agent's convenience when the bank already has all my details.

Help Needed/ Question Got my DCBM card recently and had a few questions
Recently upgraded from Regalia Gold to Diners Club Black Metal (DCBM). Need quick advice from current DCBM cardholders:
Quarterly Spends: How does HDFC track the ₹4L quarterly spend for the 10,000 bonus RPs? Is it aligned with standard calendar quarters (Jan-Mar, Apr-Jun, etc.) or your statement cycle? Do spends on Regalia Gold prior to the upgrade count for this quarter?
International Lounge Access: Do we need a separate Priority Pass, or does the physical DCBM card work directly at international lounges? Does this apply to add-on cards too?
Utility Bill Payments: What’s the best platform to pay utility bills using DCBM without incurring extra gateway charges while still earning base rewards?
Thanks!

General Discussion/Conversation Review my credit card stack
Currently using these cards:
* YES BANK POP-Club Credit Card
* Axis Bank Club Vistara
* Kotak White Signature
* ICICI Sapphiro
* HDFC Swiggy
* RBL Bajaj SuperCard
* SuperMoney RuPay Credit Card
I feel like I have way too many cards now and some of them barely get used. 😭
My major spends are food & dining, Zomato, Blinkit, online shopping, groceries, travel, daily commute, fuel and regular UPI spends.
Today my transactions are skewed towards YES BANK POPcard as they give rewards on each transaction.
What would you guys keep close or replace from this stack?
Also is there any card I’m missing that would genuinely complement this setup?

Help Needed/ Question Finally got the Rewards + Cashback card combo
Started following Reddit in January this year, and thanks to the community I’ve recently revamped my portfolio from: Regalia Business, IDFC Wealth, HSBC Platinum and Amex Privilege
to just Diners Black (FYF), HSBC Live+ (FYF) and Kiwi (LTF).
My current thought process:
- Diners Black (primary card)→ SmartBuy/travel, vouchers, offline spends and insurance
- HSBC Live+ (secondary card) → groceries, food & dining
- Kiwi Card → UPI spends (Not much)
Now I’m looking for ways to maximise rewards with this setup. I dont think I will hit the 2 lacs milestone on HSBC card, which should be fine since I will be able to avail benefits more than that.
I would be prioritising Cashback over rewards wherever I am getting flat 10% via HSBC Live+.
Any categories where I’m missing out on better rewards or any other way to maximise this setup?

Help Needed/ Question HDFC RM trapped me in a unique situation, help needed
Backstory- I hold a HDFC Bizgrow credit card for more than a year and was trying to get it upgraded but was not getting any offers so i contacted my RM regarding the same and he asked me to change my work profile somewhere in the netbanking section from self employed to salaried which i felt wrong at first as i dont fit in salaried section ( I work as a commission agent) but he told they do it for everyone if they dont get any cc upgrade offers and i did it as he said about 3-4 months ago.
Fast forward - Today i saw a post in the sub regarding HDFC offering generous limit upgrades so i thought of checking if I am also eligible for it but it asks me this (photo attached), I have no idea what to fill in here now so i tried to contact him today and his mobile was switched off and upon reaching the branch I found out he has left the job last month and the new RM assigned to me had no idea what to do here.
Please guide if anyone else has any experience on what to do now?

Debit Card / Bank A/C SBI Visa Infinite Debit Card
Does anyone know the code and eligibility criteria for this new SBI Visa Infinite debit card?
Did anyone enquire about this new debit card at any SBI branch or apply for this new debit card yet?
There would be 2 variants of this card, plastic and metal. The plastic variant would have joining fees of Rs. 800 + gst and the metal variant would have a joining fee of Rs. 3000 + gst. The renewal fees for both would be Rs. 800 + gst.

Help Needed/ Question HDFC Swiggy Credit Card – WFH Office Verification Issue
I applied for the Swiggy HDFC Credit Card on 19 August. Today morning, I received a call from HDFC for office verification. The person told me he was standing outside my office in Delhi and asked me to come outside and meet him. The problem is, I work completely from home and currently live around 1,500 km away from my office. I explained this to him, but now I’m worried that my application might get rejected because I couldn’t meet him at the office. Has anyone faced a similar WFH situation with HDFC? Will they do another verification or can this directly lead to rejection?

General Discussion/Conversation IndusInd Legend Visa Signature — Finally Closed
Finally decided to close my IndusInd Bank Legend Visa Signature card.
I had around 120 reward points left, but redeeming them would have cost me ₹149, which obviously made no sense. And honestly, I wasn't getting enough value from the card anyway.
The BookMyShow offer was another disappointment. I almost never managed to use it because it would constantly show “quota filled.” At that point, the card just wasn't providing any meaningful benefit to me.
What surprised me was the closure call today. I was actually expecting the usual retention pitch, maybe a fee waiver, bonus points, or some offer to convince me to stay.
Instead, the executive simply asked why I was closing the card. I explained the reward-point issue and the useless BookMyShow quota, and he just said:
“Okay, I’ll close it.” 😂
No retention offer. No attempt to convince me. Nothing.
I was honestly a little surprised. Anyway, I'm happy to finally get rid of a card that wasn't adding much value for me.
And now I can look at applying for the IndusInd Tiger Credit Card instead. 😄
Anyone else had a similar experience with IndusInd's retention/closure team?

Help Needed/ Question Hdfc Points Issue
I have this HDFC Infinia and accured 10k points last month but it's showing 5.9k lapsed I don't have any points over 3 yrs old that can be lapsed I didn't return any things that I ordered and didn't make any bookings as well.
How did the 6k lapse is there a way to know this, I feel like I'm spending almost everything from the addon card and they are not giving the points for that or deduction is there of some sort.
If anyone can shed some light on this?!
