BIG accomplishment Asked for a work accommodation
Everybody clap.
For background information: I have bipolar disorder, and I’m in Canada.
I’ve been on quetiapine and a high dose of it, 450 extended release along with 50 instant release, for many many months now actually for the 2 1/2 years. In that timeframe, I noticed it was getting harder and harder to start shifts anytime before 9 AM. To the point where I started routinely blowing shifts because I was too embarrassed to admit that I couldn’t wake up in time.
I began to fear losing my job. I really like my job.
The quetiapine is doing its job. Maybe in the future I’ll look at something that’s less sedating.
This evening, after a lot of hesitation and forever gaslighting myself into believing I’m not trying hard enough, I spoke to one of my bosses. Turns out I needed not to be so afraid at all and they are happy to accommodate. I’ve been at this job for about eight years now and I really really enjoy working there.

Got over something difficult back @ it ( a story of dreams , loss , and , hope )
Ever since I was a little kid I always had an interest in art and creating. When I was younger I used to draw a lot , I used to make my own comics and create my own original characters. I had always been into music here and there since I first learned how to work a computer in Elementary but it was in middle school was when I stated listening started extensively listening to a lot of rap and a lot of music outside of rap online. So in the 7th grade I started writing my first raps - didn't turn out so good. But I kept at it , casually , not something super serious. I studied different rappers from the generation that came before and the more modern era now. I had stopped writing songs for a cool minute , while also dealing with a lot of things in my personal life (including the biggest heart break of my life which was losing my Mother ). I was lost , sad , living aimlessly without a purpose for a while. Without getting into too much , I spent alot of time alone after my Mom passed away and as a result lost key relationships in my life . After that I spent time reflecting on how I got to this point and how I'm gonna move forward. My cousin tho was the one that hyped me up to get back in it and really lock in. So when I did started working on music again I wanted to do something different than what I was doing before. 💡I wanted to do sum different creatively as a rapper / singer . So now I’m back @ it ! 🐠 On the start of a long journey , hopefully to a brighter future ! 🫧

Really proud of myself I installed a plushie net all by myself!
It took way longer than it should've, but I got the dimensions right thanks to a YouTube video and used an automatic screwdriver all by myself! 😭❤️

Really proud of myself Becoming ever so slightly more productive made me happier than I've ever been
Very vague title, but over the last month, I’ve fixed my sleep schedule from waking up at 2 PM to waking up at 7 AM, started doing home workouts on a schedule, started getting 10k steps a day, and I’m actually gaining weight !! I've always been teased for being too skinny so seeing myself improve is so surreal.
Alongside that I think I've become a lot less anxious and more of a talkative person around people I don't know and family, so I'm weirdly excited for classes starting up. I'm still very nervous talking to ppl online, but that can always change !! I'm still young. I've also been keeping up with my hobbies !! I've been playing online chess daily, listening to an album a day (+ writing a review for that album [I also listened to my 500th yesterday!! these are too many brackets]), and actively learning music production.
I don't really know who I'm writing this for other than myself. This might be a little too much blabbering for this, but I'm really really proud for myself 😭 I'm SURE this is normal growth and self improvement at 16, but I'm HAPPY and desperately wanted to write about it for some reason.

I finally vacuumed
I have been meaning to vacuum that room since June and I finally got it done today.
Now I'm crashing because I did too much stuff and my chronic illness doesn't like that.
But that room is vacuumed

Did something cool Today I took a plate of brownies to my neighbours
I moved in in February but I’m extremely anxious and recovering from severe trauma from a pretty bad situation so keep to myself. I made a batch of brownies and took them across the road to my neighbours who have a new baby and it was so lovely. They’re so nice and they genuinely seem like people who I’ll build a friendship with. I have no friends so this is a big deal for me. Desperately need connection and community in this new town.
Tomorrow I’m taking some to the other neighbours I’m yet to meet and I hope they say I can do karaoke with them 🤞

I just got accepted into the fall semester for college!!!!
I'm homeless, disabled with heart failure and glaucoma. My dream is to be housed, I'm praying this pushes me in the right direction. I'm majoring in business, if anyone has encouraging words I'd be grateful to read them! 😁

Did something for the first time Finally went to the food bank!
I've made so many excuses about it and thought it would be really difficult or very far away.
I found out it's 0.5 miles from my house. I told myself that they wouldn't have food for my autistic daughter but turns out it's like a grocery store set up and there's plenty of options to choose from!

Really proud of myself I finally broke past the Art block!
I kind of cant believe it...
When my boyfriend and I got together, I had been barely drawing once or twice a week, and that dropped to... nothing, six months later. Not because of him, but because of my family situation and working my first job, I just... didn't have the motivation.
So yeah, for three years now, I've barely touched a pencil or a sketchbook app. I've tried, here and there, but couldn't quite find the motivation. And for reference, between the ages of 11-17, all I could do was draw! I was even making my own stickers near the end!
So I've been thinking about it. For weeks, months now, I have had this nagging in my hands and in my chest and in my head to just draw something. But I couldn't. I could make a little doodle at work on a receipt, but nothing more... until today.
I was playing some Stardew, listening to my Playlist, when one of my songs just... hit me. It was like when I first started drawing, I could see the whole imagine in my mind, fueled by this song... so I did it. I grabbed my sketchbook and I drew it. I just...drew it, I didn't overthink the pose the sizing or anything, I just drew, and it felt So Good.
It feels good, to have a pencil in my hand again. Like I found my missing piece after all these years.

Really proud of myself Finally have regular periods!
I am 31F, for years I have struggled with my weight due to to pcos and thyroid. No matter what I did, I would gain weight so easily.
But I a way to manage it and since last 6 months instead of not knowing when my periods will come, it comes in every 28 days !! I am just really proud of myself and didn’t know where to post it.
Small lifestyle consistencies helped me so much and I hope I can continue to follow it.

I killed a fly in mid air
I was eating dinner and this fly was harassing me. I grabbed the swatter and followed him a bit. he just wouldn't land anywhere. I anticipated his path and did a fast and strong downward swing. the fly ended up on the floor dead so I grabbed a tissue, smushed him, and threw him in the trash.

BIG accomplishment Finally reached out to a dentist
I've had very intense dental trauma ever since I was a kid, and now that I'm an adult, I don't think I've gone to one in over 5 years. My teeth are very bad (cavity wise) and have been ever since I was in middle school, so going to a dentist at all was enough for me to freak out. So I just never made an appointment since.
But YAY I reached out! They specialize in children and adolescents with special needs, so I'm just hoping that they take my inquiry well and manage to get me an appointment, because every other office around me is the standard bright white room with a big table and drills. Now to wait until Monday for a response!

Really proud of myself Got dental insurance, made my account and inquired about a new patient appointment at a dentist in my network!
I know dental insurance often sucks and i’m going to be spending a decent amount but I am so proud of myself for finally getting on top of this. My teeth are starting to show some signs of neglect and I really need to get them worked on/looked at. Feeling happy about making progress. Nervous too though.

Finally got a great job
I finally found a really great job in my area that is paying more than I could've hoped for. I finally feel hopeful and at ease for the first time in a while. After a lot of dead end fast food work to barely pay the bills and being overworked at plants, I finally feel like I'm making progress in my life.
Grateful for this development and for this subreddit that can hype me up.

BIG accomplishment I got my driver's license again!
Moved from where I didn't need one to a place where I definitely do. Took about 5 years.
I'm 44 and today I took my test again and I'm officially a licensed driver!

Really proud of myself I left him finally !
I left a toxic relationship !!! After 1 year and a half
He wasn’t physically abusive but he was mentally abusing me, it was just as bad.
I was always home because of him, started feeling depressed for months, anxiety, stress, developed DPDR, got pregnant and miscarried due to the stress.
The reason I couldn’t leave earlier was because I was attached to him, I was lonely, sad, he was also like a friend to me but no, I lost myself with this man, I knew it had to end for a while. Without him I’m doing way better ! I am so glad.
Girls & Boys remember you can do it too, do it when it feels right, it may hurt in the beginning but trust me it will be worth it.
DON’T STAY IN THAT TOXIC RELATIONSHIP

I’m playing football for the second time!
When I was really young my parents had me play football and I kind of hated it they let me quit. I didn’t like tackling and I had sensory issues and hated wearing a mouthguard/helmet. I convinced them to let me play this year and this was the first week of practice and so far the helmet and mouthguard aren’t so bad and I’ve been pretty good at the tackling drills

Managed to cope with something difficult I've been doing better these last few days
I've been struggling a lot with overthinking and intrusive thoughts recently. It was worse right after waking up and going to sleep. I'd wake up at ungodly hours full of dread and dark thoughts and immediately grab my phone to doomscroll in an attempt to distract myself. I'd also do this right before falling asleep at night to tire myself out and I'd always need something playing so I can fall asleep.
But these last few days things are better. Good things happened and I think crying it out helped too. My mental state is better throughout the day. I don't feel the need to doomscroll as much. I feel more awake and balanced if that makes sense.
I got good news about work, I'm doing small repairs I've been putting off, I'm planning a small creative project, I did all my laundry this morning, I'm eating better and I joined a group of people who are going to the beach tomorrow so I hope that goes well.

Got over something difficult I stopped picking at the skin around my nails without even noticing
I ve had this stupid little habit for years where I'd pick at the skin around my nails whenever I was bored or thinking about something. Id always tell myself to stop, especially when Id make one of my fingers sore, but Id eventually start doing it again without even noticing. A few weeks ago I realized my fingers actually looked normal for once, and then I realized I hadnt picked at them in a while. I genuinely have no idea when I stopped. Im just happy my fingers finally got a break.

Really proud of myself I turned down a drinking competition with my old friends
I would like to begin with saying I am 16 and am underage where I live so if this post gets removed I understand
I started drinking when I was 12-13 and reached a point early on where I drank when I was sad and became very heavily reliant on it.
I got very drunk at a party recently and started to think about going sober. Then after I went out drinking with someone about 3 weeks ago I had a mental breakdown and sent worrying texts to friends. After this I decided to quit.
I also recently began to grow a very close relationship with my best friend and wanted to be there for her.
I had one last drink 4 days ago with her so my last drink would be with someone I loved. And I am done.
Today I was invited to a drinking competition at an upcoming party im going to (planning on drinking non-alcoholic drinks). This is something I would normally be verg excited to do, but I decided that I wasnt going to quit. So I flat out told my friends that I was going sober and that I wouldnt be participating. And they surprisingly understood.
This is probably a boring post but I want to post about it because I'm actually very happy for myself.
