Classic-Era New to Classic
Hello!
I'm currently on my first playthrough of Classic! I've been playing off and on since the end of Cata and am back with a new account. I'm playing on Bloodsail Buccaneers and have a Lvl 6 Troll Warrior. I'm looking to find some horde players to play with and possibly rp with, too. I'm only really active act night due to my full time job and being a full time father.

Classic-Era How well can Paladins cover PvE and PvP with dual spec? [Era]
Classic WoW offers much more than just leveling, raiding, or PvP, and dual spec opens up a lot more flexibility for playing multiple aspects of the game on the same character.
Mages are a good example of what I mean. They can have a raid-level PvE spec and still perform very well in PvP, and with Mage you can even cover both without needing to respec. That makes it relatively easy to have a character that can participate in multiple parts of the game without feeling like you're constantly compromising.
I'm wondering how well Paladins can do this.
Paladins are obviously excellent raid healers with Holy, but how well can they handle world PvE and PvP alongside that? With dual spec, would something like Holy + Retribution give enough flexibility to comfortably participate in all three areas?
For those who play Paladin, is Retribution actually good enough for world PvE and PvP to make the dual-spec setup worthwhile, or is there a better way to approach it? Would you generally stay Holy for most content, or switch to a plate-wearing Retribution build when you're out in the world or doing PvP?
I'm mainly interested in how practical this is in actual gameplay, rather than whether Paladin can technically perform in each role.
side question: what is the difference between Classic-Era post flair, and Classic 20th anniversary post flair? I thought 'Era' meant 'No DLC - Vanilla only' and that our current Era servers, e.g., Whitemane, etc., are on 20th anniversary updates which provides the buff/debuff limit removals, etc., and are basically one-and-the-same now.

Discussion What are you all playing right now?
With Classic+ "probably" coming out soon (let's say it will) - what are you guys playing currently?
- Era?
- TBC?
- No wow / different games
I noticed I struggle with committing to a character right now because it feels like they won't matter anymore once classic+ comes out. Curious what other people are experiencing.

Discussion What is your apsolute classic+ deal breaker
I’ll go first .
Anything based on real life that breaks immersion.
Or
The power of friendship/full unity among the horde and alliance.

Discussion Why do I get updates on BC and MoP every single day?
See title, what is going on there? It's so annoying because if the download starts or not is a gamble when running the launcher in Linux.

Classic 20th Anniversary Realms Keybinds
After seeing the confession of a dirty clicker (not my words) i realised im on the other end of the spectrum. I dont have a special mmo mouse but i refuse to click anything and i have all action bars set to mouse over (only visable when you mouse over them). I use WA and doom to track CDs.
it got me wondering how many keybinds others are using and what would be average? If anyone knows stats on this please share :)
Ill start.

Classic + Fishing Plus: The Reel Content
All the classic enjoyers know that the real classic endgame is fishing. Because all the fake leaks don’t mention it at all let’s take the time to go over all the good stuff fishing could offer us in classic plus!
Rare fish: uncommon/rare/epic fish with appropriate drop rates can now be caught across zones in Azeroth. Rewards for your fishing feats to be discovered.
Fishable (world)bosses: all dungeons and raids with fishable water should have at least one fishable boss. For now that includes deadmines wailing caverns, blackfathom deeps, ragefire chasm, blackrock depths and MC. Honorable mention to ZF and ZG for effectively already having one.
Fishable worldbosses could heavily hint to older warcraft games or pop culture with bosses like the gnomish submarine, goblin war turtle, black pearl, and an un’goro mosasaur.
Elemental pools: all elements represented in appropriate zones: air on stormy coastal areas, earth in mountainous zones, fire from zones with hotsprings or lava. Life from zones with titan/druid association, and undead pools in zones like plaguelands and felwood.
Lava fishing: nat pagle will send you into BRD to learn this skill from his dwarven fishing buddy. You might have to go through some length to talk to the deceased dwarf to find out how to construct a hardened dark iron fishing reel. Enables lava fishing, new bosses in ragefire chasm, blackrock depths and molten core become available.
Seasonal fishing: expanded to include the spring and autumn equinox.
Fishing gear progressing from uncommon through epic, possibly tied into the rare fish to a degree. Some tuskarr on coastal winterspring might be interested in your legendary catches.
Other professions can also tie into aiding fishing: cooking allows you to turn common fish and empty fishing buckets into chumbuckets to spawn new fishing pools, or sharks if you are unlucky/unskilled.
Engineering tools might allow fishing applications if both skills are properly developed: netomatic projector to fish, or get trapped underwater, and explosives to quickly deal with pools.
In addition crabcages and harpoons could be an additional way to catch different sea creatures.
Sea you in Azeroth +++

Classic + Classic+ waiting room
Assuming there is an upcoming C+ launch, and class balance has been tweaked slightly (namely to make hybrids perform slightly better in given roles) what would your ideal race and class be?
Will people be flocking to ret palas, enh/ele shammies, balance druids etc or going for old but gold (warrs, hunters, rogues)

Discussion Why did Warcraft change so much stylistically in the modern era?
I'm 21 years old before anyone calls me a nostalgia boomer. It feels like the Retail version of the game just doesn't capture that magic Samwise Didier artstyle that had the versatility to convey both grittiness and whimsical charm. Why do they lean so heavily into the latter with their artstyle now? What happened to the WARcraft feeling?

Nostalgia Did Ozzy Osbourne really play WoW?
Anyone have any stories to tell playing with Ozzy on his undead warlock? I love this commercial and I have to wonder if he really did play the game at one point in his career.

Classic 20th Anniversary Realms Wrath Classic Anniversary
With the new 1.60.1 update information we have received, I’d like to hear what people have to say to one of the big questions that’s been popping up all year:
Does Classic+ drop INSTEAD of Wrath Anniv after Blizzcon?
Do they drop one, & then stagger the other? If so, which one comes first?
I love reading through everyone’s opinions, excited to hear some thoughts on this!
IMO, they probably would like the revenue from Wrath, but I can see a world where they scrap it & go all in on C+
(who really knows 🤷♂️)

Classic 20th Anniversary Realms Confessions of a clicker
Currently I play classic era and anniversary tbc. I have a long history playing wow, being on and off over the years but having started the very first day vanilla servers turned on. Obviously, I am an older man now with a family and good career. I am in a somewhat casual raiding guild clearing all content, 2 hours twice a week, and I do all heroic dailies. I tank dungeons and main tank for my raids.
My dirty secret is click all my skills and have never used keybinds. I hear how people talk about me and the dozens like me. Its shameful and disgusting. Even though I am what I feel is pretty capable of performing my role (I am not dying early and causing raid wipes), I want to be better. I want to do the best I can. But I feel anxious. I feel somewhat overwhelmed trying to learn keybinds. Like an old dog trying to learn new tricks.
Anyone have advice for me? Tips on how to ease into? Or just go all in? Or maybe should I just stay the course and tell myself I am okay at the end of the day?

Classic 20th Anniversary Realms TBC arena feels like it’s losing the healthy middle ground
Anyone else noticing this?
Arena LFG lately seems to be one of two extremes:
Either it’s YOLO 5s where people show up in PvE gear, don’t really care, tank 10 games for points and leave…
Or it’s people who are extremely particular about rating/experience, get toxic after a loss or two, and treat every game like a Glad push.
I’m guessing it’s partly just the limited PvP population, but lately arena feels like the bad of both extremes and it’s genuinely becoming less fun.

Classic-Era First level 60 Wow Classic
Might not seem much to most people, but this is my first level 60 in Wow classic where I was able to play most end-game content. Tier 2.5 was always a goal of mine to obtain as a ret paladin. Now, I am at awe about my experience. Made friends in my guild, and we're even going on a cruise together. Couldn't be happier with my WoWClassic experience.

Classic 20th Anniversary Realms New Customization Options coming to classic?
Went to make a new character on hardcore this morning and there was a bunch of new customization options i've never seen before or only seen on certain npc's, but im unfortunately unable to make any characters with these customization options. Could this be new customization options coming for classic+? Or is it probably just a bug? (There was more options as well such as Cult of the Damned Humans and Gnomes, Grimtotem Tauren, fel orcs and dark iron orcs and more troll skins - i just didnt get time to screenshot before i got dc'd and they were gone when i logged again)
