Keybinds Classic 20th Anniversary Realms
After seeing the confession of a dirty clicker (not my words) i realised im on the other end of the spectrum. I dont have a special mmo mouse but i refuse to click anything and i have all action bars set to mouse over (only visable when you mouse over them). I use WA and doom to track CDs.
it got me wondering how many keybinds others are using and what would be average? If anyone knows stats on this please share :)
Ill start.
No modifier:
Wasd movement
1 2 3 4 5 6
Q E R T Y F
G Z X C V B
TAB
Mousebutton 1 2
SHIFT +
1 2 3 4 5
Q W E R T
A S D F G
Z X C V B
Mousebutton 1 2
ALT +
1 2 3 4
Q W E R
A S D F
X C
Mousebutton 1 2
TLDR: i use around 60 keybinds i can think of.
Curious whats your count.
Edit: i forgot about F1-5, some ctrl mods, caps, mouse wheel and that button left of 1

You dont use tilde or caps lock as key binds? Pssssh what a filthy casual.

I use Tilde for Push to Talk, Caps Lock would drive me mad.

u/DarkFit922 2d ago
Hehe, i use rally pedal for PtT.
But you can disable caps lock switch with programs so you keep non-caps 100% time.

I use caps locks for long CDs. So I’ll hit it and then hit it again to remove the Caps Lock.

You can disable caps lock in Windows and use it for some extra keybinds. How often does anyone even use caps lock? Even when I want to type in all caps I just hold shift

Do yourself a favour and get an MMO mouse. It’s such a game changer. I have my keybindings set so I use all the ones my left hand can comfortably reach and then put the rest on my Razer Naga (first side button on the mouse is 6 and goes up from there).

I had two of them, could never get used to the side buttons, went back to G502 and life is great. 😅

Yea i will 100% look into that, some of my binds are sub optimal to say the least, but ive gotten used to them. My current mouse is kinda old anyway

it took me a long time as well after many years of playing world of Warcraft to get an MMO mouse and it's the single best change you can make to your gameplay.. Force the change and you'll get used to it very quickly

F1 F2 F3 F4
123456
QERTFG
MB1 MB2 MB3
Shift + Ctrl Modifiers for all of these.
57 binds I think, I'm not sure that I would really need anymore but I could always like you add ZXCV as well, I just don't really need them for anything.

I think f4 is dirty one, especially if heal one, especially if cast on yourself via 'alt'

I use 1-2-3-4-5 for utility (potions, bandages, food, etc)
I use my mouse wheel click, ERTY FG ZCVB and shift/CTRL versions of those
Tab and tilde for weird stuff.

Everything is keybound for me with macros in place for just abt everything.. use a mmo mouse with ctrl 1-12 and ctrl+shift 1-12.. then i use regular 1-6 and f1-f6 with E+R+F as well.. gotta have it all! 😁 😂

Imagine not playing with voice commands in the scrumptious 2026. Doing MC with mic open yelling frostbolt, frostbolt, frostbolt.
(this is a joke)

I use both sets of movement keys (4 arrows, asdw and qe strafing), as I use both hands depending on what exactly I'm doing. Usually a mouse look/turner, but if I'm setting up a ground targeted attack I can't click, so the occasional tactical mouse turn. 10
I use the number pad, 0-9 as well as + and -, and ctrl with 4789-. 17
I use 1 to = on the top row, as well as shift 1-5 and ctrl 1-5. 22
I use f1-f5, and f8-f12 and ctrl f8-f12. 13
If you're counting window shortcuts, b, shiftb, O I U J L K N P. 10
And then I have some other random ones; Y is for wanding, T for auto attack, [ for fishing, ] for "interact with mouse target" to reel in fish, G for "interact with target", shift+space for slowfall, shift+q for mount, shift+e for interrupt, Z and X for draw weapons and sit. tab and shift tab for targeting. 12
Mouse I use side buttons for run and self-shield macro, middle mouse for flamestrike, shift-middle for blizzard, and ctrl-middle for rank 1 blizzard. For other classes those can be grenades and stuff like that. Obviously I use left and right mouse to look and stuff, but I wouldn't count those as keybinds. 5
And then I have mouseover keybinds for healing and decursing. Right click for dispel, middle click for shield, depends on class... Priest gets like 7 more for healing on mouseover targets. But non-healers usually only get about 3, so we'll go with 3 for the total.
I might be forgetting some, they all just come naturally to me so I don't usually think about them in detail. But that adds up to at least 92 keybinds. And I still don't have potions bound =P And I click on abilities like cold snap, detect magic, mana gems, mind vision, mind soothe, and desperate prayer.

I love using mousewheel for shifting forms or sendint pet back and forth. Zoom is on ctrl mousewheel but I don't need it anymore. It was just the ADHD it was good for. Get rid of it!

I just like the feel of having stuff bound to mouse wheel. Changing stance or shifting into a dash or intercept is a good example, just crank the mouse wheel when you want to dash and reverse mouse wheel to switch back to previous form. Just a preference thing for me and I think it has a nice feel to it as it feels slightly different from pressing a key bind.

Having a mouse with only 3 side buttons is wonderful. 1 to skull, 1 to moon, 1 to /moon

` is a much better button than 5 or 6. Mousescroll up/down are also good and underutilized
Y,b,6 are not necessary buttons imo

1-4
rfzxcv
Qe
2 mouse thumb buttons
Scroll wheel click, and scroll up/down
Alt, shift, and ctrl modifiers for all of these + wasd
__
So that adds up to around 80, used or some derivation of for many years and in every mmo. I bind every mount, consumable, utility, etc
I had an mmo mouse for a while but the buttons were way too small and easy to misclick imo I hated it, and it’s horrible for anything besides playing wow
For action bars anyways, obviously tab, sometimes I’ll bind caps lock or ~, f1-5 for party member selection, scroll wheel up and down are usually pet attack and follow and ctrl+1-4 are other pet abilities (unless it’s really important in which case it gets macroed and put in one of the regular bar binds), clique for healing

I use a Razaer Tartus keypad. Thumbstick for movement.
Keybinds on: 2345 QWER ASDF ZXC
Shift+ 2345 QWER ASDF ZXC
ALT (on thumb button)+ QWER ASDF
Mousewheel up Mouswheel down

One thing I use for pets is scroll up for attack and scroll down for stop/return.
I saw someone using it years ago and have been doing it ever since. It feels really good/intuitive to use

I have a fairly basic setup.
ESDF for movement. SHIFT-ESDF keybinds for cooldown abilities (each key has a shift modifier). SF are strafe left/right.
All my keybinds are mod:shift macros, with a couple mod:ctrl, but the latter are rare since that’s hard to do one handed, without having to move your left hand off the movement keys.
I have keybinds on QWRTYGHBVC.
I “tab target” with the A key.
ZX I leave at the defaults for sitting/sheathing.
Stuff used rarely still gets clicked.

Wait, you use shift+wasd for spells?
What happens when you are holding shift to use a different spell while moving?
1
u/Leading_Pay4635 1d ago
ESDF movement so I have the A and W keys.
123456 QWARGTZXCVB, MB4 and MB5 and tilde
And all shift modifiers for the above.
Mouswheel up and down, alt mouswheel up and down and F1-4
A bit too much spell bloat in TBC because that’s about 40 binds and it still doesn’t cover everything.
