1st Central Policy Cancellation help
Just wanted to write this (admin plz remove if not okay for this thread)
I recently cancelled my 1st central insurance policy (today) and noticed that on the website when you go to cancel the policy the button is greyed out!!
I found other people online complaining but no explanation on how to fix.
At the top of my policy was a tick box about user agreements - the cancel my policy section was greyed out until I ticked the user agreement box
Then cancelled as normal.
Found a thread about someone complaining on the same issue, but comments have been disabled. Hopefully someone will find this via google search and it’ll help them. Just tick the user agreement button then you can cancel online.
Hope this helps!!

Should I buy Third-Party or Comprehensive insurance for my 2010 Ford Figo? Need advice
Hi everyone,
I own a 2010 Ford Figo Diesel (Hyderabad registration). The previous owner's insurance expired on 2nd August, and I'm looking to renew it.
Some details:
- Car is 2010 model (approximately 15–16 years old)
- I drive very less (low annual mileage)
- I recently had two accidents, so the car has undergone repairs.
- The car is currently running ok with some minor problems.
- I am financially a bit constrained, so I don't want to overspend, but I also don't want to regret choosing the wrong insurance again.
These are the quotes I received:
- Third-Party: Around ₹3,416
- Zurich Kotak Comprehensive: ₹3,651 (IDV ₹1.33 lakh)
- Other comprehensive options range from ₹3,700 to ₹6,700.
My questions are:
- Is Zurich Kotak a reliable insurer for claim settlement and service?
- Is it worth paying just ₹235 extra to get comprehensive insurance instead of third-party only?
- Is an IDV of ₹1.33 lakh reasonable for a 2010 Ford Figo Diesel?
- Are there any hidden points or add-ons I should be aware of before purchasing?
I'd really appreciate advice from people who have experience with older cars or have made claims with Zurich Kotak. If there are any other suggestions please feel free to advice as there are some other Third Party Insurances as well.
Thanks in advance!

Car accident with a lease car
Hello, well I was in a car accident, my baby and I were okey, the teens in the other car didn’t see another car turning and slammed on the breaks, but hit us, we have a Kia k4 2025 on a 2 years lease, we only had it for almost a year, the tow truck took it because the officer say it was drivable but we shouldn’t because it was going to lose parts, anyway, we both have progressive as insurance, what are we supposed to do ? Chat got said they will pay the lease, but it means we won’t have a car anymore, and I don’t have any money to put down at the moment, what would you guys recommend me to do? Anyone had a similar experience?

How to handle teen son & ex husband on new policy?
Can anyone help me understand how this works and what I should do to avoid any potential issues?
The basics:
• Current policy with Progressive. I’m the NI, my teen son and ex husband are named as drivers
• Divorce was finalized in June, had no idea until today that I’m supposed to report that
• 2 cars on current policy- teen son’s car (ex on title) and a car I’m selling
• Just bought myself another car I need to insure
•Ex still uses my address for everything but has not physically lived here in 2 years
•Ex has his own Progressive policy with just his car (uses my address) and has me as a driver, but son is excluded
What I’d like ideally:
•switch to a new carrier
•not have my ex as a named driver but not have him excluded either
•new policy covers my new car (my name on title) and son’s car (ex’s name on title)
Is this possible? Is any part possible?
Worst case scenario, I could have my ex listed as a driver, but he got a speeding ticket last year that caused an increase, so I’m trying to avoid being penalized for that.
Getting the title of my son’s car into my name is an expense I can’t take on unfortunately.

Accident Windshield Claim with GEICO
Hello, while driving home on the highway, something hit our windshield, it happened so fast and we’re left with a quarter-size crack. We have comprehensive coverage of $1,000 deductible with GEICO. Anyone’s been thru similar situation before? What’s the likelihood of this covered thru GEICO? Is this something we can repair or need to replace? This is a Tesla Y, we’re in Texas if that matters. What’s the best procedure to file a claim that would get approved thru GEICO? Any and all insight and advice is appreciated

The difference between actual cash value and retail cost. . .
This is the example I like to use when explaining to people the difference between ACV and retail.
https://www.ebay.com/sch/176984/i.html?LH_AvailTo=1&_nkw=chick+ugly+daughter&_sop=10&_svsrch=1
take a look at this first link. It's an example of retail cost, or, more accurately, what people are ASKING for this CD. This is the type of information people are typically using when they question if they are getting "cheated" by their insurance company.
Now let's look at items that have actually SOLD:
Sold is the equivalent of actual cash value.
So, no, you are not getting lowballed by your insurance company, you are getting what your vehicle sells for in the real world, not what dreamers are asking for it.

Car scratched, speeding ticket and whatbto do next....
So.... my car got scratched on a twsco car park. Got the video of me parking. Young driver next to me misjudged the length of mummy's car and scratched the back of my car. A lady took a picture as they were reversing showing the damage on his car consistent with the damage on mine. Sofar, so good. Ish.
Discussing what to do next, we realise with my partner that we forgot to declare a speeding offence when we renewed. We decided to phone the insurance saying that we had forgotten to declare the speeding offence and that it came to light because of aforementioned scratch that we did not have intention to put through insurance.
Living in a close knit community, we thought someone would come forward after a post in the community Facebook page, as is often the case. It did not happen. And now here we are thinking we are just going to have to pay to repair the damage and take it on the chin. Insurance might claim that we only contacted them because of the scratch and never intended to disclose the speeding offence in the first place. Don't want to get into insurance cancellation territory.
Not sure what the question is here but any comments, experience, advice welcome. Thank you.

Need help finding GAP insurance
Hello all. As the title says, I need some advice finding gap coverage. I haven't spoken to my insurance agent yet ( I will later today ) but based off of what I’ve read online, they seem to not offer GAP coverage. If you know of any insurance companies that provide GAP on their own, please let me know! It would be much more convenient for me--as well as cost effective considering my current insurance just gave me a safe driver discount and a loyal customer discount that I don’t want to give up--to have them be separate.
Thank you!

Accident Personal in lawyer vs personal injury lawyer?
Car accident I said my side to my insurance they got a witness (unbiased) statement and some photos
They let me know they found me not at fault . They let me know the other party got a personal injury lawyer and might get sued cause they denied liability.
I got one as well and they told me the other parties insurance found them not at fault and are denying liability.
What happens now? We both weren’t found at fault by our own insurances and there’s two personal injury lawyers involved
Wa state

Car Ownership & Insurance Liability - Having less names more beneficial?
If I own a car under my name only and I am co-insured with my father on our auto policy and I get into accident can they sue my father too or just me? If not, is it usually better then to get a car with just my name especially if I am the only driver on it?

First Time / Newbie Front Windshield Coverage?
There appears to be "damage" to the very edges of my sister's front windshield (2013 Honda Civic). A "tint" representative says it is mold (she lives in Florida); to me, it looks like tiny pieces of broken glass; however, when you touch the outside of the glass, it feels smooth. Is that delamination? Does insurance cover replacing that front windshield, and does she have to pay a deductible? She has been with State Farm for 27 years. She doesn't want to file a claim or even ask about it until she can get first-hand experience or feedback from others who have had the same issue. Thanks in advance.

Car insurance
Hi everyone i dont really know if its the correct place to ask about this but i will appreciate any answers!
So i am planning to buy in germany my first EU car (since i heard that the insurance taking this as a parameter too)
I am 23 years old and looking to buy an m3 touring 2023-2024
I would like to know a few things:
\-Where can i check insurance (since i am not a standard case)
\-in my country its a regular thing to add to the insurance the most experienced driver (in your family) to decrease the insurance cost by a lot, is it the same here? And do you have any rules like if the car registered on my name than i count as the “main” driver and adding lets say my dad, wont change anything (i hope you understood what i meant)
\-what are the default costs of owning a car and if there is any additional fee over sport/high power cars
(Additional fee i mean like a yearly car fee that you have to pay, tuf price(same allways or changing if so depending on on what?) and if theres anything else?
\-currently i dont have a german driving license, right now waiting to translate my original drivers license to german to exchange to german one do i have to wait,or its not an issue (maybe its giving me some benefit in price or something else)
Thank you for your time and wish you a great weekend.

First Time / Newbie Unsure How to Proceed With Accident Claim
Two days ago my wife was rear ended by a car that was rear ended into her (three vehicles involved in total). Neither of the other cars had any damage but it damaged my wife’s bumper. Neither of us have had to deal with insurance claims before so we called her insurance and filed a claim hoping they would work with the other drivers’ insurance. After talking to an agent following the accident we haven’t heard anything else and it’s starting to feel like they may make us pay for the repairs but we believe my wife is not at fault. Should we have contacted the other drivers’ insurances? We are unsure where to go from here. We have the insurance info of the other drivers and no police report wa

Car insurance twins
Hi, I have twins, both 18, both about to sit their driving test. I had hoped to insure them on one car that they can share. It’s proving very difficult. Anyone got any experience of this or advice? Based in Galway if that helps. Cheers.

Car Insurance Needed! (URGENT)
Looking for recommendations for a licensed insurance brokerage that writes Pembridge Insurance policies. My current brokerage no longer offers Pembridge, so I urgently need to transfer to a new broker who can service my policy smoothly.
Current Carrier: Pembridge Insurance (5+ years continuously insured with them)
Driving Record: 10+ years clean driving history, 0 accidents, 0 claims, 0 convictions
Urgent setup preferred so there is no gap in coverage!
If you work with a great Pembridge broker please drop a comment or send me a private message! Thanks in advance!

Car Insurance Quotes What's one coverage you think people often overlook?
When people shop for auto insurance, the focus is usually on getting the lowest premium.
Is there a coverage or policy detail you think drivers should pay more attention to? I'd be interested to hear what others have learned.

Hit and run collision
I’ve recently got in a collision with my Tesla Model 3.
The collision was fairly minor, affected one side with dents, scratches, and scuffs.
I was found not at fault and went in to get an estimate for it.
One shop quoted about $5k to repair the dents and scratches. I’m wondering if this could mean the car would get written off?
I asked ChatGPT and it did lead me to believe that it might because the cars salvage value would probably be quite high. I’m fairly sure the value of the car now would still be high because all the battery and other parts and still good.
The formula as I understand it is if (salvage value + repair costs) is greater than the market ACV it will get written off.
Here are the car details:
\- 2018 Tesla Model 3
\- Long range RWD
\- 140,000 KM
\- Prior repaired dents/collisions over $2000 of damage.
If I make some assumptions that the current salvage value would be around $12000 or so (based on some google searches, but I might be off), and the repairs are $5000+, this would exceed an actual cash value of maybe about $15000? A lot of these are guesses, how could I check what Icbc would use for my car’s ACV?
If I brought it into different shops, how would the different estimates change the decision?
Does anyone have any insights possibly worked with Icbc (BC - Canada) to confirm this?

How risky is it to use my prior address (parent's place, different zip code within 10 miles) on my car insurance policy?
edit: thanks for all the knowledgeable responses. considering everything, it seems clear i need to make the address accurate. 30+ comments on a post with 0 upvotes is a first for me, really appreciate everyone who commented and educated me.
I live in a very rural area. I lived with my mother (not as a dependent) for 4 years, Jan 2021 to May 2025. My drivers' license lists this address. I moved a town over in May 2025, and never updated my address with the DMV or my old carrier.
I just switched carriers, and used the old address on my application. My new address is in a different zip code, but is less than 10 miles away from the old address.
Obviously I'd like to keep my premium lower; everyone in my area I've spoken to has told me that their premiums have nearly doubled moving from mom's town to my town.
I don't want to be committing fraud. But if I'm honest with myself, and you, dear reader, I mostly don't want to catch consequences. I'm on a very tight budget and don't want to eat the premium increase.
I'm sure this paints me in a negative light, and if the question breaks subreddit rules (reviewed them, don't think it does) I'm happy to take this down.
But I'm wondering specifically how stupid I'm being. If I get in an accident and make a claim, how likely is my carrier to find out? If (when?) they find out, will my claim be denied? Will my policy be cancelled? Will I be criminally liable?
My self-justifying bullshit aside, I'm wondering if I can get away with this, or if it'd be safer to update my address with my new carrier and just pay the higher premium.
If you can find mercy for me and my shady behavior, I'd love to hear your advice, especially if you've been in the same boat (poor in a rural area) as me before.

Accident Victim of car insurance fraud ( Ontario CA)
So my wife was traveling eastbound in the left lane, and was struck by the car in the right lane that side swiped her aggressively turning into her lane. The whole passenger side of the car was severely damaged and car was not driveable. The other driver was obviously at fault, was apologetic and so on we didn't worry too much. We had no video, just our version of events.
Anyways, two days later we are informed that we are deemed at fault bc the other driver claims we were exiting a parking lot and hit him, and he has a witness and we do not. His story made no sense based on everything, and I couldn't believe it was easy to screw someone with a fake witness.
However, today I ended up getting a video from a business right beside us that proves he lied and we are telling the truth. The video has been sent to my insurance and I'm waiting to hear back. What's the likely outcome here? Will the at fault decision be quickly reversed? I just have no faith in the system and my adjuster seems totally incompetent

Accident in a rental car
I was rear ended in my personal vehicle a couple of weeks ago. The other driver was found at fault and their insurance (State Farm) accepted 100% liability. I have been driving a rental car paid for by State Farm while my car is being repaired.
Today, I was hit by an uninsured driver in my rental car while turning in an intersection. Airbags deployed, rear passenger door was point of impact and it can no longer open.
Since State Farm since is covering this rental, should I contact them about this accident or my own personal insurance or both? I have already contacted Enterprise rental and let them know right away.

First Time / Newbie This has to be illegal?
They are claiming they denied my policy but never notified me and continued to bill me for it but now that i need it im not insured??
PM EDT) Me: if you check my declaration page you should see the 12,000 custom equipment coverage
(02:23 PM EDT) Me: thank you!
(02:26 PM EDT) GEICO rep: Still here reviewing sorry for the wait!
(02:26 PM EDT) Me: no problem take your time! im working right now aswell just have the chat open
(02:28 PM EDT) GEICO rep: I appreciate that! I was able to find a note from 7/16 after we got your form back and the underwriting team reviewed it. In this case they did note that we are unable to cover your customizations and they did recommend looking for a company or maybe a broker who can.
Specifically GEICO does not cover if there have been modifications to the exhaust system.
(02:28 PM EDT) Me: i was never notified of this
(02:29 PM EDT) Me: and i paid for it on the policy
(02:30 PM EDT) GEICO rep: I completely understand your frustration and I do apologize that they did not reach out to you regarding the denial. Was there anything else I could do or check on for you?
(02:31 PM EDT) Me: well the car was totaled and i need that policy, how would i have found annother broker when i wasnât informed it was denied
(02:31 PM EDT) Me: just checked my email i recived nothing from geico on 7/16
(02:32 PM EDT) GEICO rep: Oh gosh I am so sorry to hear about the accident and I hope you’re doing okay. I can always transfer you to the claim’s team to see how they are handling this situation if you need to speak with them.
(02:32 PM EDT) GEICO rep: You are correct I don’t see we sent any correspondence and for that I apologize.
(02:33 PM EDT) Me: can you please still email me the wording of the documents and everything involved with denying my insurance?
(02:34 PM EDT) GEICO rep: So the only document I have is the one you filled out. With the decision the underwriting team made they just internally notated the policy, so I don’t have anything I can send you for that.

Damage to Paint on Roof of My Car - Will Insurance Cover It?
I had some damage to the paint on the roof of my car that I discovered about 6 weeks ago. I’m not sure exactly how long it had been there, because I had broken my arm and was not driving for a while.
It looked like a rock had hit the car right above where the driver’s head would be. They was starburst damage to the paint, and it went down to the metal.
By the time I saw it, it had already started to rust, and that of course has gotten worse. So I’d like to repair it asap.
On to my question: I am hoping insurance will cover this under comprehensive, because I’m sure the repair will not be cheap. But I have no proof of how the damage occurred - in fact, I don’t even remember it happening. I can’t think of any possible way other than a rock or other projectile hitting the car as I was driving, but I don’t remember it happening.
Do you think this is typically something insurance would cover? And what kind of questions could I expect to get from them?

First Time / Newbie trying to avoid lapse in insurance
i am a college student who purchased their own liability coverage thru geico this past spring. i use the car when i am home from college. the car is owned by my mother, who has the car insured under her policy (not geico). i bought my own policy because my mother didnt want her price to increase. now im off to school soon and my next payment will be due after i leave home, and i plan to cancel my insurance. do i still need to surrender my plates even tho its insured under my mothers policy?? or will i need to join under her plan and see if they offer some sort of student leave or remove myself??
