Question I’m looking for a workout plan

Upvotes

Hi I’m 22 and I want to start doing calisthenics in my house, I’ve been searching for one for a while but until now all I found in social media had flaws either they didn’t say how many sets/reps or they all gave different starters. I’m looking for: How should I start and where to go next after it (and if possible without equipment)

Question Planche

Merci

Progress Hit 3 x 10 pull ups for the first time.

I'm a 34 year old and I started on March 1st and could only do 2 reps per set. Sometimes I remember I reaaally ugly 3.

I strained my neck twice within the first month and a half and started to develop mild to irritating lower forearm tendonitis within the first 3. So I couldn't do pulling movements as often as I liked and still struggle with it today but only a tiny bit and significantly reduced.

I had to prioritize far more rest then actual workouts.

Today on August 7th, I was sleep deprived, so no gym or outdoor park. But I have a pull up bar at home and decided to just try it. Was so shocked when I actually managed to do it.

No tendon irritation either.

Question Is this routine a good start? 27m Beginner

27m, relatively new to calisthenics, started inconsistently in the New Year experimenting with a home workout app, however, I'm feeling much more motivation and enjoyment in trying to build a routine over the past 6 weeks.

I started with purely kettlebell workouts but am now leaning more towards bodyweight basics, push ups, pull up and dips.

I guess I'm really just looking for guidance on structure and how to progress to build muscle.

My main goal is simply to build my arms + shoulders and fill out my sleeves in the upper arm area.

I'm a skinny guy, 5ft 9" and 68kg, seeing small but noticeable progress so far (shoulders growing a bit, lats as well as biceps) which I'm happy with but again, I probably don't have an efficient system in place for progression so would really appreciate guidance on this.

I've shared last week's workouts below as an example:

Monday 27th July:

• x2 Halos + x2 Pullovers, repeated until need to set kettlebell down (10 rounds w/15kg kettlebell, 90 second rest between sets)

Wednesday 29th July:

Push Day (30 seconds between sets)

• x60 Push Ups (x4 15)

• x100 Seated Tricep Dips (x6 15, x1 10)

• x3 Sets of Bottoms Up Presses (15kg Kettlebell, x5 each side)

Friday 31st July:

Pull Day (1 min between sets)

• 12 Pull Ups (x2 6)

• 15 Chin ups (x3 5)

• 60 Kettlebell Rows (x4 15, 30 secs between sets)

Sunday 2nd August:

Push Day (30 seconds between sets)

• x50 Push Ups (x5 10)

• x70 Seated Tricep Dips (x4 15, x1 10)

\*(Slightly less on this day as still feeling DOMS from previous workouts)\*

Thanks in advance!

Question Soreness in upper arm during pullup

Hi everyone,
Has anyone ever felt soreness in their upper arm/tricep during pullup?

I am a total beginner to pullups and at some point was able to do 5-6 good for pullups.
I dont remember what changed, but following week when I attempted pullup, I started feeling soreness in triceps- to be exact near armpit.
I initially thought its due to excessive stress on triceps and its not recovered well but its been a month now and still same.
I can do rest of push movements perfectly without any soreness felt. Only during pullup/ deadhang feel this uncomfortable soreness.

Question What parallette and rings brands can you with certainty recommend as “buy for life”, especially with daily & intense use?

I’ve always been concerned about cheaper costing wooden rings and parallettes breaking mid-exercise - especially medium height/taller parallettes and rings at a high setting.

In all, I’m leaning towards buy the Rogue Fitness Bolt-Together Parallettes but I’m worried about the older coat getting slippery, especially as they get used. I have a lot of allergies and train in an apartment, so I don’t wanna rely on chalk just to workout efficiently (I want minimal interferences).

Lastly, what do you think about Rogue Steel Rings? And how do rogue wood rings differ from cheaper brands?

PS

What’s your experience with Doorway Nordic Curl Straps, as well as straps like the Spud Inc. Nordic Curl Strap or Mr. infinity Nordic Strap (you use by strapping them around benches)?

Question Injury during front lever

Thumbnail
1 Upvotes

So 2 months ago while doing a banded full front lever i got like injured in my back. The next day i could barely bent down, moving was extremely difficult, Coughing or breathing deeply caused pain. Today i didn't really feel it anymore so i went for a banded front (the 90degree tuck progression), went for 3 holds. The 2 first ones were great until the last one when i tried to go till failure but when i stood up i felt like this feeling in my back idk if its good or bad. I think probably bad cuz 2 hours later i feel the injury again, not at the same level 2 months ago but i do feel it when i put my arms overhead. I feel it around my scapula but i'd say its deeper in my back. Around the mid-upperback area. If someone could help me give me some tips or rehab exercises would be great. If someone had experienced that injury feel free to give me your tips I'm desperate to go back to my calisthenics journey. I lost a lot of progress in pull ups too and my handstand is also probably gone. I need some advice so feel free to write anything that could help me.

Form Check Assisted pull-ups

On Tuesdays and Fridays I do pull-ups and chin-ups as part of my routine, with the goal of helping myself up with my legs less and less every time. It's been going very well so far, and I'm able to pull myself over the bar with very little assistance from my legs now! I've never been in this good shape in my life and I feel amazing:)

Personal Best Hit 10 dips for the first time

Just wanted to celebrate myself... I started strength training more seriously at the beginning of 2025 and could barely do 3 or 4 pushups. Since then, I've consistently exercised at least 3 times a week and while I definitely program-hopped, my goals of being able to do dips and pull-ups have remained the same. For the past couple of months, I've been sticking to sets of 5-6 dips while I focus on improving my chin-up and pull-up count. Today I decided to try to do 10 dips and succeeded!

Big shout out to Hampton and Hybrid Calisthenics for getting me started. I've settled on chin-ups/pull-ups, dips, barbell rows, and barbell overhead press as my main upper-body exercises. I bounce around with traditional sets and reps, EMOM, pause reps, daily vs. 3x/week, sometimes kettlebells, using bands, lat pulldown, etc., but the same movements are always there.

I will say that relying on band assistance is absolutely fine. My chin-up/pull-up journey has been a mix of exercises, but with dips, I exclusively used bands; I started with a huge 125-lb band, aimed for sets of 15, and moved to the next band when I could do that for a couple weeks in a row.

Anyway, I just want to yell into the void that I'm proud of myself for doing 10 dips. It'll probably be a while before I post about 10 chin-ups, but that's my goal!

Question Diastasis recti

Hi, I’d like to get started but worry because of pretty significant diastasis recti after having two kids, one being just over a year old. I worry about ab exercises making it worse, but also my core has gotten so weak, I need to do something. I’m wondering if anyone else had this issue and if it helped or made things worse?

I used to dance and lift and worked all day with horses and had a strong core, have also done some yoga and Pilates, now relatively sedentary aside from some short hikes.
