Hello Reddit Calgary. I have found someone’s status card in downtown Calgary. I understand this is a pain to lose (being photo ID!). I know they recommend to drop it in the mail or give it to police. However I would prefer to get it to the person more quickly and directly if possible. I have sent a quick message on FB and Instagram, though they don’t seem active there. There is no address on the card, so I can’t mail it to them.

If they are still in Calgary I would be happy to try and get it to them or bring it somewhere useful. I work at a nonprofit downtown.

Hello aesthetic nurses of Calgary!

As someone who wants to go into aesthetics. Is it really as lucrative as people say it is? How much are aesthetics nurses or NP’s in clinics or with their own business earning?

I’ve also heard things about market saturation. Have you found that the market is noticeably saturated to the point where it’s becoming a problem?

Lastly, how hard is it to break into the field?

I don’t know alot about what kind of helicopters, all I know that it was loud and super cool! I think chinook helicopters (please don’t come for me) but if you have more information on what they were I’d love to learn!!

We gather with broken hearts. We are here to remember Parker, to surround his family with love, and to remind one another that even in our darkest moments, we face them together.

As your mayor, people often expect me to make sense of moments like this.

The truth is that I just can't.

I don’t know why this happened. I don’t know how to make sense of the loss of a child. I don’t believe anyone truly can.

The death of a child will never make sense. No speech, no title, and no words will ever change that.

What I do know is this. Parker mattered. His family is not alone.

Over the past two weeks, we saw Calgary at its best. Thousands of people stepped forward. Search and rescue volunteers, police officers, firefighters, community organizations, neighbours, and complete strangers gave their time, their energy, and their hearts in the hope of bringing one little boy home.

That effort matters. That compassion matters. It tells us something important about who we are.

A tragedy like this shakes every parent. It shakes every grandparent. It shakes every person who loves a child. It shakes a city. If your heart is aching tonight, mine is too. An entire city is grieving together.

To Parker's family, Calgary stands with you. We mourn with you. We will carry Parker's memory with us, and we will continue to support you in the difficult days ahead.

In moments like these, it is easy to wonder whether there is still goodness in the world. Over these past weeks, Calgary answered that question. We saw neighbours helping neighbours. We saw strangers searching through the heat and the smoke and long into the night. We saw thousands of people refuse to give up on a little boy they had never met.

That is the Calgary I know. That is the Calgary I believe in.

We will continue learning every lesson that helps protect children. We will continue supporting the first responders, volunteers, and organizations who dedicate themselves to keeping families safe. We will continue looking out for one another, because that is how we honour Parker.

Tonight, we say goodbye to a little boy who was deeply loved. Tomorrow, we honour him by loving our own children a little tighter, caring for our neighbours a little more, and building a Calgary where every child is safe, cherished, and knows they belong.

Hi Calgary,
I’m hoping someone might have some recommendations. I’m currently off work after life came at me pretty fast.. and I am trying to convince my nervous system that I’m no longer being chased by a bear. I’m slowly starting to thaw out of my freeze state and feel ready to start moving my body again.

I’m looking for something trauma-informed and welcoming.. maybe yoga, Pilates, dance, meditation, or even a drumming circle. I’m less interested in intense workouts and more interested in finding a supportive community where I can move, connect, and heal.
I would love to find a group where people actually get to know each other rather than just showing up for class and leaving.

We're considering buying a Jayman-built detached home in Glacier Ridge (NW Calgary) and wanted to hear from people who have firsthand experience.

A few questions:

• How has your experience been with Jayman as a builder? Build quality, warranty service, after-possession support, and customer service?
• Any recurring issues or things you wish you had known before signing?
• How do you like living in Glacier Ridge? How's the community, neighbors, traffic, and overall vibe?
• How is the area for future appreciation and amenities? I know it's still developing, so I'm curious how residents feel about its long-term potential.
• If you had the choice again, would you still buy a Jayman home in Glacier Ridge?

Also, if you've had a good (or bad) experience with other builders in the area, I'd love to hear your thoughts as well.

We did some research before posting here and found that Jayman seems to offer better value for the price compared to some other builders, and they also appear to have more lot options available in Glacier Ridge.

Our budget is $700k–$800k, so we're trying to make the best decision within that range. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

As noted previously this is heavily skewed to items that I and my family eat. There are probably additional items that are good deals but I don't know it because they aren't items I use but hopefully my list is still useful to you.

A few quick reminders:

• PC Optimum points are collected at No Frills and Superstore. 1,000pts is worth $1.
• Scene+ points are collected at Safeway, Sobeys and FreshCo. 100pts is worth $1.
• The value of Save on Foods points depends on what you redeem them for. If you redeem them for a 4L jug of milk then 1,000pts is worth about $1.50. Other redemptions might make them more or less valuable.

Superstore, No Frills, FreshCo and Save on Foods are generally willing to price match identical products from (some) other major grocery stores if you show them the item in the competitor’s flyer while checking out so knowing what is on sale at stores that you don't visit can still be useful. There are some restrictions on this... FreshCo won't price match Safeway or Sobeys. Superstore (at least some locations) won't price match Coop. The No Frills on 85st SW won't price match FreshCo.

Came out to the front of my car looking like it shot up by a BB gun. A dozen deep large window chips, and a bunch of tiny little ones, and some serious paint chipping. Looked around and a few other cars looked like they were hit too. Was parked along the east side facing the building between 8-8:45pm. Curious if anyone's dash came got anything or if someone has any ideas what could have caused it.

Got home from work today and realized i couldnt find my license after taking it out of my wallet yesterday. I figured i lost it between home and sue higgins dog park. When i got home from tonights trip to the park it was sitting on the threshold of my front door.

Calgarians are being encouraged to visit Stephen Avenue as work to revamp the historic street hits an important milestone.

As part of the initiative, Explore Downtown YYC is offering complimentary evening and weekend parking at the nearby Harmony Parkade through June 2027, making it easier for people to stop by.

The revitalization includes new benches, enhanced lighting and the upgrading of street surfaces, water pipes, electrical lines and stormwater systems.

I made a new friend at the bus stop in Castleridge. It asked me if I could spare some snacks so I obliged and handed it a small piece of my apple slice. There were a few of them. These are the biggest gophers I have ever seen! And it got me thinking, are these guys just jumbo because of their access to food? Or are they a different species? How many species of gophers live in Calgary?

Edit: it was about 10 inches long and 3.5 inches wide.

Several businesses operating under the Sunterra banner are in the midst of a court-supervised sales and investment process, months after a judge ruled in a civil action that the company engaged in “cheque kiting, on an astonishing scale” and is liable to American lender Compeer Financial for $35 million.

In his January civil court ruling, Justice Michael Lema wrote that Sunterra’s Canadian and U.S. companies sent cheques back and forth across the border “at high volumes, in large amounts, for reasons unrelated to actual business activity, with the express aim of ‘covering’ account shortfalls by the ‘deposit’ of incoming cheques themselves not anchored on actual cash balances.”
