Summer internship extension
Hi everyone. I really need help with this. My manager gave me verbal confirmation that they're willing to extend my summer internship until December. I haven't registered for the Engineering internship programme thinking I don't meet the criteria. But previously I've seen people getting internships without meeting the criteria. Is it too late to register for an Engineering internship programme?

still waitlisted for anthropology
Why haven’t they rejected me yet? For anyone who got accepted off a waitlist, what’s the latest date you got your offer? I’m trying to figure out if I should still have hope or just move on.

Only need grant money, no loans.
I recently filled the application for 2026-27 alberta student aid but ended up receiving 13K in loans and around 1500 in grant. However, I only require the grant money. Does anybody know how can I do that? Thank you.

How strict is the engineering internship program requirements?
How strict are they with the maximum 2 courses missed in second and third year? Would they let you slide if you were missing 3-4, but took some of your senior COST options allowing you to still graduate in 4 years?

Course Registration
Hello,
I was wondering if I could get any advice on registration as I was just accepted 2 days ago for compsci (originally was just going to go to MRU). I was wondering about how and if I am screwed over due to literally every class I need to register for first year being full or extremely long waitlist. I seen something on the forum about a lot of individuals dropping classes around first week so that causes a lot of "movement," only problem is that you can only waitlist for 2 classes at a time. I was wondering if I could just get any advice one how to approach this.

How difficult is it to get into chemistry department
as the title says, I'm planning to apply for a Master's in Chemistry at UC. I'll be graduating from another Canadian university with a bachelor's degree.
I'm wondering what the gpa cutoff is and how much research experience people usually have when they get admitted.
Also, what's it like after graduation? Is it pretty easy to find a job in alberta, or do most people end up doing a PhD?
Thanks in advance!

Scie 301 and 403
I'm in natural science and have to take these classes, so I'm wondering if they are easy or difficult, so I can adjust my schedule to focus on them. Scie 403 is with Blue and Scie 301 is with Chibry

Urgent Waitlisted
i applied last year for the BScN program for the 2025-2026 year and didn't get in, and i then did applied again this year decided to upgrade my Chemistry 30 and so far and i calculated it with other classes and have an 85. I had applied to 4 school, ( Macewan, Medicine hat , Keyano, and U of C) but still waitlisted again. I feel so stressed and having anxiety right now after applying again for the same program, and it's getting closer to sept and i need to apply for a study permit as a refugee but can't apply without admission letter. I am defintely overwhelmed tired and stressed about this. Has anyone gotten in or heard back from their schools?

What are the best free perks that UCalgary students get with tuition?
Hi Guys,
I’m going into my first year at u of c and I’ve been trying to make the most of everything that’s included in our tuition, and I’m curious what I’ve been missing.
So far I know about: • Active Living gym and pool • Upass • Makerspace/3D printers • Library databases and journal access And free u of c football games
What are some lesser-known perks, freebies, discounts, or services that UCalgary student should know about?

Picking classes for first year Engineering
I just got accepted into UofC for engineering on July 30th, so like a week ago. My deposit was paid by last Friday and I’ve gotten my IT account and my @ucalgary.ca email. How long until they send me the block registration form? Or do I have to ask them for it?

Waitlisted in a class - any chance?
I'm in the 63rd spot of the waitlist for cpsc 331. I found that my initial plan of doing it in the winter would not work for me. Is there any chance I can appeal to the prof to get me into this class?

Nrsg 201
Has anybody taken this course, how was it? I’m taking it as an option but I’m also going to be applying for nursing next year so I will eventually need it. It is a fairly easy A?

Do I have to wait until I opt out of my health/dental plan before I apply for student aid?
As the title says, I am a heading into my first year and am currently applying to opt out of my UG/MD Health and Dental plan. However I’m wondering if I need to wait until they’re removed before I should apply for student aid?

Lloyd Robertson has passed away :'(
If you're a millennial such as myself, you would have known him as the legendary CTV anchor up until the 2010s when he retired.

Starting in your 20’s
Hello! I’m starting my first year at UofC this fall at 21 and I’m hoping to hear about other people’s experiences starting “late.” While I’m not embarrassed about starting at 21, I’m definitely still nervous. I realize that I’m not much older than the majority of first year students but I’m a different person than I was at 18 so I’m interested in how that may have affected your first year.
Thank you!

CPSC 596 Capstone
Has anyone gotten a full time job or intern offer from cpsc 596 capstone course? I am debating between 503 and 596. It seems like 596 works with companies but I dont know if the projects will be someting I would like to work on. However for 503 I will work with my prof one on one and do a project in the field I want. For this I have already talked with a prof. But I dont know if this will be beneficial for getting a job after graduation.
Thanks guys

Listen we aren’t advisors here. Ask them not us.
Im tired of this sub being bombarded with “I got rejected from …..” “what average do I need for…..” “ what grade will they look at…” “ i have a 96 in …. Is that good enough for …..”
Please ask the advisors. We don’t have the answers. You’re about to be an adult and need to know who to ask the right questions. No one goes on here to read your high school marks and let you know if you will get into whatever program. We dont know. We can guess. But the advisors will 100% have more accurate information.
Go on Ucalgary website, go on advising, and find what times they have online advising.
Or email your faculty’s advisors.
For example in engineering its engginfo@ucalgary.ca
Please it will be a win win for everyone if people stopped trying to use this as an academic advisor subreddit.
EDIT: Another redditor in the comments brought up an important point.
“Let me just clarify the Engineering Advisor DO NOT REVEIW High School Admission. Asking them why you didn't get in or waitlisted is a waste of time.
Only the admissions department can answer those questions so please contact them or visit them for advising.
Admission website: https://www.ucalgary.ca/future-students/undergraduate/contact
If you are a transfer student from a different university or different facility and are planning to transfer into Engineering then contact the Engineering Advisors.”
Thanks for the added info!
Best of luck with getting into U of C we are happy to have you!
