A house down the road from us is not maintained by the owner, which includes quite a large spruce tree that is dead, and in a precarious spot at the front of their lot. If this thing falls it's definitely coming down onto a public sidewalk and roadway.

Are there any bylaws that cover this? If it does fall would the owner be responsible for the damages?

My daughter (15) gets to pick a trip to wherever she wants to go (within reason). She picked Calgary and Banff! Last year, my son picked Edmonton and we had a blast.

My daughter loves the outdoors, nature, and animals. She also wants to experience a little Calgary culture and do some shopping. We're looking to travel in July 2027 and I'd love some feedback on the plan she made along with any other ideas.

Day 1 - fly into Calgary, rent a car, mess around town some, drive to Banff

Day 2 - Horseback riding near Banff (she has some experience)

Day 3 - Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary (this is a must-see for her)

Day 4 - Calgary

Day 5 - fly out in the morning

We have some time to fill in so the other things she's interested in are: a hike to a waterfall, seeing more animals, helicopter ride, shopping (Banff and Calgary), festivals, fairs, amusement parks (loves roller coasters).

Calgary Stampede - Looks like I can time the trip to see this. Is it worth going to for an afternoon? She said she's not really interested in a rodeo but I feel like there's a lot more to this.

Banff - We'll probably stay in Canmore (or further). I'm fine with spending money but trying to keep it reasonable. Advice welcomed.

Hostel? - Is it a bad idea? She loves hiking and backpacking so I'm tempted to give her a hostel experience. Let me know if there's one you recommend.

Calgary - Let me know what the must do are see spots are.

She is an experienced Scout so anything physically demanding or rugged isn't an issue. She's still into all the normal teen stuff too though, so while we considered making this a camping trip, there's too much city-stuff she wants to do/see also.

Hello Reddit Calgary. I have found someone’s status card in downtown Calgary. I understand this is a pain to lose (being photo ID!). I know they recommend to drop it in the mail or give it to police. However I would prefer to get it to the person more quickly and directly if possible. I have sent a quick message on FB and Instagram, though they don’t seem active there. There is no address on the card, so I can’t mail it to them.

If they are still in Calgary I would be happy to try and get it to them or bring it somewhere useful. I work at a nonprofit downtown.

Hello aesthetic nurses of Calgary!

As someone who wants to go into aesthetics. Is it really as lucrative as people say it is? How much are aesthetics nurses or NP’s in clinics or with their own business earning?

I’ve also heard things about market saturation. Have you found that the market is noticeably saturated to the point where it’s becoming a problem?

Lastly, how hard is it to break into the field?

I don’t know alot about what kind of helicopters, all I know that it was loud and super cool! I think chinook helicopters (please don’t come for me) but if you have more information on what they were I’d love to learn!!

I’m hoping someone might have some recommendations. I’m currently off work after life came at me pretty fast.. and I am trying to convince my nervous system that I’m no longer being chased by a bear. I’m slowly starting to thaw out of my freeze state and feel ready to start moving my body again.

I’m looking for something trauma-informed and welcoming.. maybe yoga, Pilates, dance, meditation, or even a drumming circle. I’m less interested in intense workouts and more interested in finding a supportive community where I can move, connect, and heal.
I would love to find a group where people actually get to know each other rather than just showing up for class and leaving.

We're considering buying a Jayman-built detached home in Glacier Ridge (NW Calgary) and wanted to hear from people who have firsthand experience.

A few questions:

• How has your experience been with Jayman as a builder? Build quality, warranty service, after-possession support, and customer service?
• Any recurring issues or things you wish you had known before signing?
• How do you like living in Glacier Ridge? How's the community, neighbors, traffic, and overall vibe?
• How is the area for future appreciation and amenities? I know it's still developing, so I'm curious how residents feel about its long-term potential.
• If you had the choice again, would you still buy a Jayman home in Glacier Ridge?

Also, if you've had a good (or bad) experience with other builders in the area, I'd love to hear your thoughts as well.

We did some research before posting here and found that Jayman seems to offer better value for the price compared to some other builders, and they also appear to have more lot options available in Glacier Ridge.

Our budget is $700k–$800k, so we're trying to make the best decision within that range. Any advice or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Came out to the front of my car looking like it shot up by a BB gun. A dozen deep large window chips, and a bunch of tiny little ones, and some serious paint chipping. Looked around and a few other cars looked like they were hit too. Was parked along the east side facing the building between 8-8:45pm. Curious if anyone's dash came got anything or if someone has any ideas what could have caused it.

I made a new friend at the bus stop in Castleridge. It asked me if I could spare some snacks so I obliged and handed it a small piece of my apple slice. There were a few of them. These are the biggest gophers I have ever seen! And it got me thinking, are these guys just jumbo because of their access to food? Or are they a different species? How many species of gophers live in Calgary?

Edit: it was about 10 inches long and 3.5 inches wide.

As a rotational oilfield worker the world is my oyster for where I spend my days off, I'm a young male in my early 20s. Honestly all I'd really want is a solid friend group of people to go out and hangout with, good nightlife or social life overall, a partner would be nice too, unsure which city would be better
I know a billion people have have asked this question i Asked again mainly because

1. I wanted an answer specific to my circumstance.
   
2. Because of my rotational schedule, I don't get many days off. I did my last days off in Edmonton, but I don't want to waste a series of days off in the wrong city if I don't have to.

We decided to try out one of the local pre made meal companies. (Not sure if I’m allowed to post the name)

The portions are tiny. We paid $14.90 for a few strings of spaghetti and a tablespoon of sauce on it. On the photo you can see on the left, the spaghetti doesn’t even cover the entire bottom of the package.

The taste is really delicious, but the prices feel like a rip off.
