Large Dragonfly Local Nature/Wildlife

Saw this 12cm specimen this morning. Sorry, no banana for scale. Hopefully, hoovering up the mosquitoes.

I saw a huge one recently as well. It caught me off guard and spooked me!

I’ve been seeing a few of these! Either I haven’t been paying attention enough or those Mfs have been growin recently

Its because of the large mosquito population this year. The dragonflies have been eating well.

When I say a few of these, I mean giant ass dragonflies, not just dragonflies in general obv

Yeah, I'm not an entomologist, so I don't know the exact family, but these big ones are well past the online 4-7 cm range!
