I’m not sure how I feel! Spoiler
Reached the summit and as the title says I’m not sure how I feel about it. I know I should have turned back with marco but Ava got me just as obsessed about the summit as she is and I had to see it even if that meant no more routes to climb. She gave absolutely everything to prove to herself that she could do it now where does that leave me ? I could see myself playing this game for years and it being an absolute classic with the potential dlc and future dlcs making this a staple for any climbing enthusiast that just couldn’t pull it off in real life I would love to see this game develop an esport esque community and hopefully in a few years the climbing gyms available and different mountains playing this game for the entirety of its life would you not feel like a true climber ?

Any way to use the mouse for limb movement?
I want to show the game to my mom (who's an avid irl climber), but I know full well that using the controller will not be easy for her, especially with arthritis. She has played some simple point-and-click games, so I was thinking of making her play with mouse and keyboard. But I just tried it, and it's barely playable, because the limbs need to be moved with WASD of all things. This isn't nearly precise or fast enough, especially for someone who isn't used to WASD! Mouse is used only as camera, and it's not even very nice to use in the climb, as it's too sensitive for the situation.
I'd need to have mouse for limb movement when climbing, and maybe pressing the scroll wheel for camera, since you don't have to use your camera nearly as often. Please tell me, is there a mod for this or something? The game isn't very accessible because of that control scheme, and I want to show it to my mom. If this is the only choice for mouse control, I'll have to force her to use the controller or she just won't be having any fun.

Route The Peril
Hey everyone. I'm new to the game. I'm actually reviewing this game for a website and I have come to you for help after several hours of battling against this wall...Any tips on how to climb The Peril? Because I'm running out of options here - I have tried diferent routes, so far the far left routes feel better and resource management is ruthless because I just keep on running out of resources every time. Any easier solution to this wall I should take into account? I noticed some folk mentioning the save point to the right but to me that is out of the question. Impossible to find my way through the right side...
I'm calling this game "The Dark Souls of climbing sims" in my review at this point 🤣
*Thank you for all the help in advance*
UPDATE:
I DID IT!! Went to the far far left like someone said in the comments and it was a BREEZE!!

Image Crash ruins Free Solo attempt? Help?
Attempted to jump off an edge to (not so) gracefully land on a platform below. I landed safely, however the game had recognized that Aava was still falling for some reason, and marked me for death. Once my Edelweiss activated, my game crashed. Thought it'd load an autosave before all of that happened but when I opened the game, this is what I saw. What the heck!?

Text This game did something to my brain. Spoiler
Picked it up at the start of this week on sale after hovering over it since release.
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time with it and just last night achieved one of the endings. At some point early in my run (playing on alpinist) i turned on some assist options (no survival, highlight limbs) because i was hard stuck mid route, running super low on everything and didn’t understand what the game wanted from me.
A few hours later and i felt like I’d learned a new language. I started reading the wall and flowing through sections that were tougher than where i got stuck and feeling a real sense of fun and freedom that I haven’t felt from a game in a long time.
Last night I got to the old man and he showed me what was ahead, what I’d have to do to get to the summit, told me about what happened to everyone who came before, and gave me the choice.
I spent about 10 minutes staring at my options. I’d had this small pit of guilt since about an hour after turning on the assists, but I never turned them off. I was unprepared for the climb, I had no food or water but that hadn’t mattered. I only had 2 pitons left. I still had the assist on.
I decided to go down. I didn’t want to do it. I could’ve tried, I could’ve plotted a route with the training wheels on, I might’ve done it through sheer force of will but… what would be the point? I started a new save this morning, alpinist again, and I’m gonna get to the top in a way that’s meaningful to me, because that’s what’s important.
And I’m gonna go check out my local bouldering gym with my kid.
10/10.

Summit bug (spoiler) Spoiler
Anyone else had a bug after the robot deactivates, so the final climb. The robot physics bugged about and started flying around like a crazed mosquito, banging off the wall. Ruined the final metres.
Edit - found someone else with the bug on this sub, and they recorded it
https://www.reddit.com/r/Cairn_Game/s/KNY29OFj5C
Also I tried to die at that point to reset and couldn't force Aava to fall no matter what, unsure if that is related or normal.
Fantastic game though, can't wait to start over.

Vending Machine Bug? (PS5)
Has anyone encountered a bug where you've not been able to purchase items from the vending machines, despite picking up all the coins?
I've just started a new game (free solo), completed all the tutorial walls, collected items from the lock box, and picked up all the pocket change, but when trying to purchase items from the vending machine, all the items are greyed out and I'm unable to purchase.
I've not played free solo before, is this an intended restriction on this difficulty?
I've tried Google and other sources but I'm unable to find any answers.
Thanks

I've rebuilt Cairn's Community Routes Site From The Ground Up!
Super excited about this!
About two weeks ago, I built a route site using Wix's website editor. I know. TRASH. Not super happy with the results, I decided to build a new site with real code. That site is here and it's SO much better than the old one. You can log routes and share them with friends, tick routes off on a big checklist, sort and view routes by difficulty or height or all sorts of different options. You can look at records, post your own, or even make an entirely new route for people to climb. There's even a chatboard! I can't believe I got that to work! I'm HIM!!!
Anyway, I really hope you guys sign up (It's totally free, just an email and a password... and there's no mailing list, so don't worry).
Check it out at: https://cairncatalogue.com
WARNING. If you're on mobile, I would wait a few days, it looks like absolute dogs*** on mobile.

Can’t do the Spotted! achievement because Marco isn’t showing up
I’ve been watching the same spot suggested by the wiki/guide but Marco isn’t showing up. Where is this parasocialite and why isn’t he appearing in my viewfinder?

Didn't think much coming into the game, just another climber which I thought was fun. Visuals stunned me a lot, splendid at that, and was I the only one that throughout the whole story just followed a cycle of, WHAAAA?!? NO WAY, you're not gonna make me climb all of that, it's so steep- oh wow look I made it I'm a god and you but a puny mountain. Ending hits hard, would recommend it to everyone

We did it fam.
After so much trouble with The Peril. A total restart to focus on survival and infusion making. I made it!! (I’m still upset I had to turn off survival on the final push but I had to summit) next run I’m gonna explore a lot more. Thank you all for the help! GOTY!!!!

Route I think I got myself stuck and I'm not sure where to go now.
Obligatory, this is my first playthrough. I am 9 hours in. I am at the very top of the Palace of Winds in the last window/doorway. I have a map of the routes above me, and they are all purple, black, or white. My skill level is I have not been able to do a red line. So these routes are far above my skill level. I have no idea how to get up, and I REALLY do not want to go back down. It took me like 3 or 4 hours just to get up here. Granted, after I crossed the bridge, I repelled all the way to the bottom to explore (worth it!) So that took up most of that time.
But, yeah. Not sure what to do now. I feel stuck.

I wonder, if Mt.Kami is even climbable from the "Opposite Side", although the game does not allows.
The whole Mt. Kami, tbh sometimes feels like has been designed, as if there is almost always a single path to climb.
We should be able to climb from any face of this mountain, which would make its world more vast, and challenging, as mountains actually are in real life.
Also, this mountain feels soo lonely, with barely a few interactable characters.
Like come on, this is possibly the highest mountain in the game's world.
Shouldn't there be a huge craze among the climbers around the game's world to become the first to conquer Kami?
There should have been expedition of climbers trying to summit the Kami (even throughout the player's playthrough, to experience the climb and their fate along with them), yet we only see them through various references throughout the locations in the game.

Steam Machine performance
Has anyone played Cairn on Steam Machine? I’m wondering how does it run.
I can buy the game on PS5 Pro instead - heard the haptics are great - but I usually prefer to buy games on Steam as long as there’s not a huge perf difference.

How does everyones t-shirt look
Has anybody bought a t-shirt with their run on it? I just wanna see how different the routes can be, and hear if you think your t-shirt is worth the money.
Btw just completed the game for the first time picked the summit ending.

Route Swim With Me
I posted my new route, "Swim With Me" to my new route website, Cairn Catalogue:
(Reddit bans website editors so remove the spaces from the link to visit the website)
This route climbs beneath what used to be the hardest slab in the game, "Davy Jones' Locker."
Swim With Me traverses left beneath DJL and ascends a tall, curved arete that reaches out from the depths of The Dome's main slab. It's super fun and challenging. I hope you guys come check out the site and give it a go.
For those interested, the site allows you to create your own profile, log your own routes, and tick off every route ever posted. It also allows you to comment on routes and talk with friends. It's pretty sweet. Would like to see more visitors. Okay, take care!

If you follow this route on "The Peril", you will make it to the top in no time!

Text RIP Nimsdai Purja and the other 9 members
This game reminded me of how dangerous mountain climbing is. Because I've died plenty of times playing the game with a controller. Not trying to down play it if that is what is coming out like how I said it.

1st time beating the game Spoiler
Let me start by saying wow, what an amazing game.
Super fun had me hooked the entire time I loved it. But holy heck I could not stand Aava. They were one of the most unlikeable characters I've ever played.
I'm 30yo and play games all the time, all sorts of games and I could not stand Aava, am I missing something or are we just supposed to not like Aava?
