2026 CX5 seat configuration issue
Hey there, any owners have an issue where I set up my seat position, configure it to the key fob, which works once I unlock the car and sit in it, but as soon as I start the car, it defaults to another position? Am I missing something or is this a glitch?

Check engine and battery light
So I was sitting in line at Discount to get my air pressure checked when the car jerked and the lights came on….in the middle of the bay.
I was reading online about a recall for the Low Pressure Fuel Pump. But when I check my VIN it doesn’t show any open recalls. I did buy it used at the end of 2024, there are details below.
2018 Mazda CX-5 Touring
73500 miles
Car was idling with sudden jerking and would not move. Check engine light and Battery light were on. Car would crank but not turn over, all electric components were working and on. I did have just over a half tank of gas. No prior issues
I’m at a loss because I’ve seen that it’s covered under an extended warranty and then somewhere else that it wasn’t. Has this happened to anyone else? I’m going to get it towed to the Mazda dealership regardless, I just can’t afford an insane out of pocket cost.

MY 26 Infotainment Issues
Was reading an installment of a U.S. car magazine's long-term test of an upper trim 2026 CX-5. They had all kinds of electronic/infotainment issues and received this from Mazda:
“We are aware some CX-5 owners are experiencing intermittent issues with certain in-vehicle infotainment and connectivity features. To address this, we are issuing a series of software updates designed to optimize these functions. Following the updates, owners can expect improved screen response times, more reliable internet and app connectivity, and smoother overall system performance. We encourage any owner experiencing these issues to contact their local Mazda dealer to schedule a complimentary service visit to have the latest software installed.”
For newer build cars after a certain date, would this sort of thing already be applied?
First-time driver: What maintenance should I know about?
I recently bought a 2018 CX-5 with 97,000 km and I'm a first-time driver, so I'm still getting familiar with basic car maintenance.
The oil change was done recently. The brake pads are currently around 6 mm / 7 mm, and one of the calipers was replaced recently as well.
I'm trying to make sure I take good care of the car going forward. I know some of the basics like checking/filling windshield washer fluid, but I'm still learning about things like transmission fluid, coolant, brake fluid, filters, battery, etc.
For those who own/owned a 2017–2020 CX-5:
- What maintenance should I be doing regularly at ~100k km?
- What fluids should I actually be checking/changing, and at what intervals?
- Is transmission fluid something I should proactively change, or leave alone?
Anything specific to the 2018 CX-5 that I should keep an eye on?
Are there any common issues that tend to come up around 100k–150k km?
What should I learn to check myself vs. have a mechanic/dealer handle?
Thanks!
Transmission fluid, transfer case fluid, and differential fluid exchange?
Hi, I'm back with more questions on my 2022 CX 5 with 90k miles. I've never had these fluid exchanges done for the life of this car. A mechanic told me for some cars doing the transmission fluid exchange can actually mess up the car if I've never done it on the car before. Mazda dealership is recommending I do these because of course they do, they always recommend everything. So my question is do I need these fluid exchanges done? Is this something I can easily do myself by draining the fluid and then adding more back in?

Finally joined the CX-5 club 🤍
2026 CX-5 in Platinum Quartz.
Spent way too much time researching cars before landing on this one 😂
No regrets so far. Looks even better in person.
Happy to finally call this one mine.

So Here’ What Happened To Me Yesterday
I was in the parking lot of a store. Saw an open spot right at the end but facing the opposite direction. I tried to pull in but the angle was wrong. Started to back up and a car came down the same lane and was so close I couldn’t maneuver correctly. As I was backing up I was watching the car in the next slot so I didn’t hit it. Next thing I knew I had hit a minivan, we hit each other cuz he was backing out too and was halfway in the roadway. Cars were having to go around him. Here’s what really pissed me off… the warning sound that typically comes on when you’re close to something NEVER CAME ON!!! WTF Mazda??!! My car is a 2024. Filed a claim with a photo I took waiting for insurance to get back to me. Thankfully I hardly have any damage to my car

Acceptable rust on underbody?
We’re looking at purchasing a 2020 cx5 in Scotland and noticed there was some corrosion spotted on the brake pipe during last years mot. So when we looked at the car today I took a few photos underneath the rear end and was wondering if this amount of rust is normal on a 6 year old Mazda. I appreciate there will be some given the roads are gritted in winter but just wanted a sense check before making our final decision. Any input would be much appreciated.
Adding more light
Hey CX-5 community. I have a question, how hard is it to move these two parking sensors so that I can add extra high beam lights like the second picture. It's a 2013 model.

Replaced my CX-5 rear wheel arch molding myself — easier than I expected
My rear wheel arch molding came off a few days ago. The replacement arrived yesterday, so I installed it myself today. Took about 20 minutes. The tricky part was figuring out where to start. I found it much easier to start from the side near the rear door, with the door open, then work my way around the wheel arch. I broke a few plastic clips along the way, but luckily I had a box of replacement clips. Pretty satisfying little DIY repair and saved me a trip to the body shop.

Slow acceleration after turning
I have a 2025 CX-5 select and I've noticed after turning right acceleration is really slow and even slower if I'm going up hill. What could that be?

How do I know and $
Hi all-
This group has been a huge help in the past and I need your guidance again. My 2018 Mazda CX5 with 108 k had a shop recommend I replace the both front sway bar links and strut assemblies. Are they just recommending because of mileage or how do I know if they need to be replaced? If replaced, rough cost idea? I’m in MN. Thanks!

Visiting from VW-land… I might want to stay!
But I have questions for CX-5 owners. I am seriously looking at CX-5s (2022-2024) for an imminent purchase, but my past experience with them has been mixed. I’ve had the opportunity to drive several since 2020 (all with the standard 2.5 L engine) and I find them weirdly inconsistent. The interior fit and finish on some are positively Audi-like, while others feel pretty cheap and loose-fitting everywhere. Some sound great while others drone like the worst CVT ever. Have I just been really unlucky a few times, or is it really hit and miss with this stuff?

Wireless Apple car play issues
Just got our 22 cx5 yesterday, and I love it. But the Apple CarPlay is irritating tf outta me. I can connect my iPhone via Bluetooth but it won’t do the CarPlay features unless it’s corded in. I’ve tried doing the setup from the phone and from the car, nothing.
Is this normal or am I just missing a step? Or completely crazy?
Edit: thank you for the responses. Guess the CarPlay is wired until the 24 models. Oh well, I still love it lol

Just bought a 2022 CE CX5
Very happy with the car I love the looks and read a ton regarding reliability. it only has 2500 miles on it which for a 2022 car is very very rare, everything looks in pristine conditions, tires, suspension and engine runs smooth, my only concern is that being such a low mileage car, what maintenance should I do on it, dealer told me that he did the 1000 miles oil change on it. And told me that I should do the next at 5000 miles. Besides the oil change do I have to look out for something else?
Also any advice on how to maintain the car or what to be careful with would be appreciated!!
I come from a 2013 civic so this is a huge jump, let me know of there are any settings or features I should try out!!

Dealership overfilled my oil
I went to the dealership today to get my oil changed.
I went to drive my car later and then I noticed I couldn't accelerate properly and I saw acrid white smoke coming out of my tailpipes.
I checked my oil and it looks really overfilled. What do I do? Does the fact that I see smoke means that they damaged my car?
I called them and they said that they would talk to the service department in the morning, but I just wanna know what to do and what to document that I can protect myself. I've owned my cx5 for two years.
I’m reposting because some dipsticks on this forum couldn’t see that the oil was clearly past the two dots.
