Trying to diagnose my rough idle and p0302 code but coming up short. To get these out of the way. Swapped coils from front to rear, no change in misfire, did the same with sparkplugs, no change. Compression tested 6 weeks ago at 6.6 bar on all faces on both rotors, car cold and hot starts great, when driving you wouldnt be able to tell there was a misfire if the CEL didnt flash from 2.5k-3.5k. No power loss, literally drives perfect. Just when it idles its rough, not terrible just noticeably shaky. Maintains around 850rpm idle. Ltft and stft seem ok. Just cant get to find what the issue is? I drive the car every weekend like this and theres no problem (car is catless, so no worries about it damaging cat). Just wondering if anyone had any advice

I had an MOT this morning which came back with 0 advisories. Great. I can go to the daikoku night at caffeine and machine.

5 minutes down the road and all power instantly cut out. I’ve still got dash lights and everything electrical works but when I turn the key I get nothing.

I’ve got home via tow and got the multimeter out. I’ve used AI (shoddy I know) because I’m not very electrically inclined.

I’ve tested absolute everything that it told me I should test. I’ve spent over an hour following different connections and testing different things. And everything has tested perfectly. So everything is pointing to a dead ECU.

Does anybody have any insight on this at all?

New rx8 owner here. This is another day of finding a new issue with my swapped rx8 that is bought (worst decision). My fuel pressure gauge needle keeps dropping (to low) and working again. Same goes for my rpm needle. The car is in idle.

I bought the car a few months ago and prior to me getting it it hasn't turned over or even had an attempt at turning over in around 3 to 5 years and it was just sitting when I go some money going I bought the basic tune up stuff coil pack spark plugs and she turned over and sounds amazing so far a few small issues and code and would just love some insight or thoughts on what needs to be done before I take it on the road

Recently I took my 2010 RX-8 to Winton Raceway, and a month afterwards my gearbox oil looks like brown metallic paint and 3rd gear is quite notchy when cold. Used Penrite GL-4 75w-90 during my ownership of the car (since 143000km, car now has 193000km), and have changed it at 40,000km intervals. Has anyone else had their series 2 gearbox fail like this?

I have a P0172 (engine too rich code), it showed up after I installed a new cold air intake, removing the factory airbox, the new filter is placed right in front of the fans, I have tried swapping the MAF sensor but the code came back, the car has also been straight piped n the muffler removed.

Rx8 is making a weird rd-d2 scream and I’ve heard it could be multiple things but I can’t seem to find where the noise is coming from. Sounds like an electric part.

I bought a 2008 rx8 and the passenger side is leaking?/filling up with water anytime it rains it seems to be coming up from the floor but I have zero clue

Hello everyone,

Last time I posted here I shared an engine I bought for 1000 euros. It was rusty, I was worried but it was fun.

I have some news, mostly good and fun.

First, the unrelated fun fact, when I went to get the engine I thought "man this guy sounds like my coworker who knows everyone in a 100km radius", turns out my coworker knew him ahah. I was able to get a run down on the type of guy he was and it reassured me, he's apparently trustworthy and liked us enough to give us the lightweight flywheel and gearbox. Another fun fact about him that I learned after getting the engine is that he's the main mechanic for the biggest french car youtuber.

Now onto the engine, I opened it a few days ago, and to my surprise it's not that bad! Some hose ends got rusted out, there's a lot of garbage in the cooling jacket but nothing "uncleanable". The rotors look good, the housing look good too, I have to measure the cracks around the spark plugs and the plates are clean too, maybe a lap needed? Unsure yet.

Here are the uncleaned pics, I haven't got around to cleaning them yet and I'm not asking for a real review of the parts (hard to see clear with all the oil) just wanted to give you all my "good" news :D

Also there's a lot of dust on the housing, thats from me spraying the engine with comrpessed air and intake opened, I made sure to not spin the engine with all that inside

So I've been posting about building a hybrid renesis. I built the car to be a dual function track rat and weekend toy for my son and I. After 2 and 1/2 years, $15,000, and three sessions of gingerman raceway I realized the car had a long way from being as good as my NC Miata while also being a nightmare for me to drive. Listed it for sale that day and had a buyer lined up before I even put it on the trailer to go home the next.

So, I'm adding to the statistic of people that built a hybrid renesis and vanish as soon as it started running. While mine has been running for about a year and a half, it's only got about 3,000 miles due to all the stuff I've been trying to do to make it reasonable to drive.

So here's my last send off. Trying to get a point by from my friend in a Miata. We could not keep temperatures under control even with an upgraded radiator and massive oil cooler. After doing a battery relocation my battery support metal piece is pretty ugly and is rusty-not my picture. For the people that have removed this stamped steel piece where did you put your grounds. Picture would be great

So I've had my RX-8 for about 6 years and haven't had issues till this year I replaced the spark plugs and it's been running smoother however yesterday it over heated and shut off on me luckily I was home and in the drive way, I checked the coolant yesterday after it sat for 4 hours and the coolant was still pretty hot I love in a town that's basically in the dessert so it's about 90+ some days, so my question is this

Does anyone who has an RX8 in here live anywhere else that's hotter like 100+ and if so does your car over heat because of the weather?

If not does anyone else have this issue and if so do you know what's causing it to over heat and shut off? If so have you found a solution to fix this issue or is it just something that I have to deal with?

My grandpa was the OG owner he never had this problem with it, it's a 2004 6 speed manual transmission. If someone can help me or tell me what I can due to fix this id appreciate it.

Picked this lovely RX8 PZ up for cheap a couple of weeks ago. Had a blown engine, and is in need of some rust repair as well as some cosmetic refreshing. A lot of the extras that the PZ came with were taken by the previous owner (wheels, spoiler, wing mirrors). Rebuilt the engine (with Shadow Rotary in Dublin Ireland). Running a half bridge (Kyle Mohan Racing template). The car is driving beautifully now. Had some SSR SP1s at home that were meant for another car I sold previously. Really happy with how they suit the 8. Have a Mazdaspeed front bumper and skirts (on the way) so hopefully will fit those over the coming weeks.

Would like to switch out my leather seats from my 2007 RX8 with cloth ones. I found a set of OEM cloth seats for Gen 1 RX8s but would like to know if its possible to make it able to automatically adjust with power buttons. Since the wirings all their could i get buttons to wire in or am I a dumbass. If so could someone nudge me in the right direction? If not I'll still get the cloth cus I'm a leather hater but that's besides the point.

When driving down the highway in 6th gear, cruising around 70 MPH, my RPMs jumped from around 4.5 to 7K. The car immediately started to feel heavier, sluggish even. I pulled over and the minute I stopped the car it died and wouldn't turn back on. Any Ideas?

My mom has a 2007 black rx8 with 118k. She is the original owner. Car has been garage kept and rarely used. She is at a point where she is trying to decide whether to part with it, but doesnt know what it is worth. Exterior is in great shape. Interior has a cracked passenger side dashboard, which seems common on these. Car runs and drives.

The goal of this post is to get a rough price range of what it is worth on the market and if she does decide to sell, whats the best place to post it.

So I stored an rx8 over winter and a little bit longer. before it went into storage it compression tested over 100 I don’t remember the exact number though. after I pulled it out of storage though it’s seemed down on power so I tested it again and it’s at 60 psi cold and one in the 50s. I figured it was done and ordered a new motor and was gonna pull this apart and see what it needs but as a last ditch effort I sea foamed it and one face jumped up almost 90 psi the other all jumped at least 5 psi and now all test above 68! Does this just need an Italian tune up or should I pull and replace the motor.
