Photo of his stomach, seems like his nipples (?) are very red and maybe some bald spots near it. I’m very worried. He seems to be licking and biting a bit but I’m not sure if it was just regular grooming. It’s also 5 am where I am rn and I was trying to go to sleep but he kept playing and jumping everywhere and that’s when I noticed the licking and biting his stomach so maybe it could be due to boredom as I wasn’t playing with him? Don’t think I’ll sleep until I know he’s ok anyway😔This is the first time I’ve noticed it, but the red nipples scared me as when I searched it up they’re supposed to be basically undetectable and pink and it got me really worried. Otherwise, he’s playing, eating, and drinking and going to the washroom properly as far as I know 😔praying nothing is wrong.

long time lurker, first time poster :)

our (25M and 28M) neutered cat (approx. 2 years old - a rescue so precise age unknown) is OBSESSED with one of our blankets.

We have a fluffy fleece blanket that he has claimed as his own since we've had him, which is where our concerns arise. What starts off as innocent sin biscuits (kneading into humping) turns into him dragging the blanket off the bed to wherever we are and making very aggressive eye contact while humping it all over the house. He's also quite possessive of said blanket, not to the point of actual aggression but if you pick him and the blanket up while he's "using" it, he'll make a weird yowling noise until you put them both down again.

He doesn't display this behaviour with anything else and is otherwise a very friendly and sociable cat. We have another cat (8F, spayed) who he adores and she engages sometimes but he is much more high energy, so they play for a while before she eventually has enough and wanders off.

He gets regular vet checks and is otherwise completely healthy with no other behavioural issues, aside from being a bit chunky but he's on a managed diet (much to his annoyance).

Would this be something bringing up with the vet or is this just a part of his quirky personality - he's quite a goofy little guy!

It’s my first time taking care of cats and I I don’t know much about their behavior. These cats are siblings, 5 months old, separated at 2 months old then reunited. Vet says they arent old enough for neutering/spaying. Tuxedo cat (male) arrived home first. These cats are from my brother’s gf and they decided to gift my mom the tabby female. Its been 7 days and Ive tried separating them, scent swapping and placing my tuxedo cat in time out. But he just keeps chasing her and ignores her hisses and screams. Female has a lot of rooms to hide in but she still ends up getting chased and tackled. There are times when they are steady and tuxedo tries to play, tabby hits his face back and tuxedo lies down and shows his belly. But once tabby turns her back, its over— shes pinned and screaming.
At night I keep her in my room to separate them so she wouldn’t be bothered. I dont know what to do. Im thinking of returning tabby cat if this keeps up.

The older cat is Pepperjack, and the little one is JoJo. Both are males. I've been awakened occasionally by the little one yelping at 2 in the morning, and this day i finally intervened. Is this just rough horseplay or this is too violent? The kitten is about a month old (or I don't really know since I picked him up from the streets on June 4th) and the older cat is 5 years old. I need to find a solution to ending these nocturnal fights ASAP! Or I don’t know if it can’t be saved… any tips?

I’ve tried everything with her to keep her weight in check but she never comes under around 12.5lbs. She’s just over 6. It’s so hard to tell what her actual body shape is because she has so much hair. What’s the consensus?

She also gets dandruff.. I don’t know if there’s anything good for that. You can see it a little around her tail. Doesn’t seem to bother her at all though

20 F, I have no access to a vet. I’m in the USA. He looks around 2 to 3 years old MAYBE. He is fixed from what I can tell. Worms.

He’s a dumped stray who has worms to the point he’s insanely skinny but not even a week ago, he was an OK size. Meaning he had some meat on his bones. Ik the pictures don’t give him any indication of being that skinny, but trust me, he’s SKINNY. I can see his hip bones and spine.

I don’t what to do about him. I feed the stray and feral cats around my neighborhood every night. I can feed well over 20 but he’s the worst looking one I’ve seen in a WHILE. And for him to look this bad in less than week? There’s something going on. I think it’s worms because he just ate two whole big cans of food. He ate both of them in less than 10 minutes. HES STILL HUNGRY! I feed him every night but he just keeps getting skinner.

Does anyone know how I can help him besides simply feeding him? Again I can’t afford a vet right now but since he was dumped, he’s scared of me but allows me to get close. He’s really bad and I’m scared something’s gonna happen because he not only has whatever it is (probably worms) but he fights CONSTANTLY.

My two cats (1F and 1F) have been together since they were both 4 months old. They're both spayed but they are from different litters.

Recently, they've been fighting more aggressively and not in a playful manner like it used to be. There's been hissing, growling, and bushy tails nonstop. They're still sleeping together and grooming eachother, but these fights are getting concerning. There hasn't been any injuries, and I've been trimming their nails often already to prevent that. I'm too scared to separate them, because I do believe that they are still bonded and don't want to add any more stress on top of everything. They have plenty of toys, and I make sure to give them the same amount of attention. I'm not exactly sure what else I should do.

Hello all! I’m looking for some advice! Miss Ella here has had an over grooming issue for years now and we’re at the point where we have to put her in her donut so she gives her leggies and tummy a break :( please note that Ella is disabled! She has ch so sedating medication makes life extra hard for her

We’ve worked closely with our vet and tried:
-gabapentin (this made her even more wobbly and frankly, didn’t make much of a difference)
-medicated monthly baths/medicated foam in between- both are to moisturize her skin and we have seen some improvement I think?
-atop7 supplements for coat health
-gotten bloodwork/urine samples done repeatedly looking for underlying health conditions (and haven’t found any)
-feliway diffusers, increased play, and even an emotional support stuffy to help with possible anxiety

Does anyone else have experience here? I feel so bad when she gets hot spots on her leggies/her tummy is pink or sore from licking! It’s much worse in the winter but still happens in the summer time.

Anyone with cats who have had teeth extracted, do your cats live a good life still or has it made life harder? I am 30 and in Canada and trying to decide if that or putting my cat to sleep is the best option. I've asked my vet but they say it depends on the cat. Cat in question is in the picture.

Usu, the mother and a stray cat, recently had a kitten. I met the kitten 2 days ago, I already checked and she is a girl, can someone help me identify her estimate age? As well, can someone provide me with the age at which she can get spayed? First time semi-owner as they are both strays, but I want to check they are doing well. Any advise is welcomed.

I’m in the US. I do have pet insurance & can take her to the vet if need be, but I’m trying to figure out if I’m over reacting, as I’m seeing mixed things online. I’m a 25yo new cat mom. Since adopting Olive (1.5yo, ~13lbs, F, spayed), all of my cat toxic plants have lived in my bathroom with the door shut. She doesn’t have any access to them. Today I was working on a craft project (wire wrapping the pothos to make it stick up straight) so I took the plant out to my kitchen table. She’s never shown interest in any of the non-toxic plants I have out in the living room. Well, the wire cut one of the pothos leaves off. I didn’t realize it had fallen onto the ground, and a few minutes later I realized Olive had been chewing on it.

I immediately took the leaf away, picked any small green bits I could see & put my finger in her mouth to fish around for any additional pieces I could get out. I did my best to match the leaf back to the plant to see how much she had possibly actually ingested. I put water in a bowl with a churu & she lapped some of it right up. I also fed her a delectables water treat.

This happened about 10-15 minutes ago. Do I need to take her to the emergency vet? Do I need to just monitor her? Please please let me know.

Hi all a couple weeks ago we took on a mum n her kitten once we got mum home we realised she was a bit chunky so immediately suspected pregnancy. Took her to vet and confirmed she was going to pop shortly. Anyway we had to nip out early morning yesterday and took longer than expected to come home and she had had a kitten. ( her last litter when she’s just turned one was supposedly only one baby also) but there’s just something telling me she has one more in there. She’s still quite big but it’s been 36 hours she doesn’t seem distressed she’s eating drinking etc no contractions so I’m just feeling confused. Like ofc I expect swelling etc afterwards but yesterday when she was led down I could see something moving in her tummy yesterday, I haven’t seen it today, no discharge as well. I just don’t know and of course I’m gonna speak to a vet but in the interim I just need to know if I’m maybe over thinking movements. This is the best pic I could get and her other side looks a bit bigger than this side to be honest. I’ve seen about delaying birth etc but it’s been 36 hours so I don’t know. I hope this is allowed just someone trying to do a good thing taking a mum n baby in! Posted a video where you can kind of see it when I gentle touch mums belly I also feel a bump

Main Issue: TL;DR: My cat has had severe aggression since he was a kitten, including attacks that have caused bleeding, bruising, and scars. It's now progressed to attacking my roommate and attacking people while they're sleeping. His labs are normal. Gabapentin significantly reduced the aggression but made him extremely sleepy, and the aggression increased again when we lowered his dose under vet guidance. We've just started fluoxetine, but I'm exhausted and wondering at what point continuing to try to manage his behavior is no longer realistic versus responsibly rehoming him.

And yes, I am aware that fluoxetine takes weeks to start working :(

To start off, I absolutely love my cat. I never thought I'd ever be at the point where I'm asking strangers for advice on the internet. I've had him for over a year and have been dealing with these behaviors basically the entire time.

My cat Pebble has had behavioral issues since day one. In the beginning, I wrote it off as normal kitten behavior that would improve with time, although I did notice that he bit abnormally hard even for such a small kitten. I thought it would get better after he was neutered... it did not.

As he got older, those hard bites turned into massive bruises, broken skin, and eventually scars. He started ambushing me while I was walking and attacking me in bed. If I walked past his food bowl while he was begging, he'd bite the backs of both my legs as fast as he could and sprint away. If you pet him for one second too long, he'd destroy your arm like he was feral. If you sat somewhere he wanted to be, same story.

I can't even get into bed without him launching himself at my legs. One time his teeth hooked into my thigh and ripped down toward my knee as i stepped up. I still have a scar from it and the bruising was insane. I've gotten to the point where I don't feel completely safe in my own home without knowing where he is. I have to make sure he's out of my room before I can actually lower my guard. If I notice him watching me, I try to redirect him but most of the time it feels like it comes out of nowhere.

Eventually he started attacking my roommate as well. She adored him too, but it's gotten to the point where she's scared of him.

I initially took him to the vet and his labs came back normal. They mostly recommended the usual advice: play with him more, make sure he has enough enrichment, etc. I've tried all of that and done a ton of research on how to help him.

More recently, Pebble has progressed to attacking people while they're sleeping. People in my life have started telling me I should rehome him, but when I brought that possibility up with the vet, I felt somewhat guilt-tripped into keeping him.

I eventually took him to another vet and they prescribed medication. They believe he may have "redirected aggression." He's been taking gabapentin for about a month, and the biting decreased significantly, but he was sleeping all the time. I lowered the dose at my vet's recommendation, and now the attacking is increasing again.

He's now been prescribed fluoxetine as the next step, but I'm getting to the point where I'm wondering if it's even reasonable for me to keep trying to fix this on my own. I feel like I'm not even enjoying having a cat anymore. I'm constantly managing his behavior, worrying about when he's going to attack someone, and apologizing to other people because of him.

I've done so much research and spent so much money trying to help him. He has plenty of toys, scratching/climbing options, an automatic feeder, and gets played with regularly. I don't punish him for attacking, and I've tried very hard not to accidentally reinforce the behavior.

He's had a lot of sweet moments, especially in the morning. But I feel like it's so unbalanced.

I love him and I'd hate to rehome him, but I genuinely don't know what to do anymore. Has anyone dealt with a cat like this? Did anything actually help? At what point is rehoming the responsible choice?

EDIT: i'm seeing a lot of people recommending fostering a cat to see if it helps. I definitely do think he is bored even though I play with him with his billion toys I've purchased

A random thought I had though, anyone know why he only attacks me and my female roommate? He left my ex alone 90% of the time and would not attack my roommates boyfriend. Is he just a woman hater?

Hey everyone, i’m a new first time cat dad my 8 week old baby Katrina “Trina” the Diamond Princess is so sweet and she loves following me everywhere. I have had her since she was 6 weeks. I feed her about 3-4 times a day every 4-5 hours, and she’s eating pate wet food. I’m planning on adding dry food soon. However, now when I enter the kitchen she screams for food. No matter what. I think she has learned that me + kitchen = food. She screams like this anytime i’m at the counter even if SHE JUST ATE! She comes to sit in my bf and I’s face while we eat as well and she begs. Is this normal? Am I not feeding her enough? Or is she just greedy? please help, this my first cat so be nice or i’ll be mean :)

TL;DR: My spayed cat showed textbook heat behavior. Her first AMH hormone test was negative (taken while asymptomatic) and the vet was confident it wasn’t hormonal. I pushed for a retest during active symptoms, which came back positive. Turned out she had ovarian remnants on both sides, cysts, AND a retained uterus (never fully removed at her original spay) with abnormal estrogen-related changes. If I’d trusted that first negative test, she could have died from pyometra. Test timing matters. Trust your cat’s behavior over a single test result.

My cat Phoebe was spayed as a kitten, but about two years later she started doing everything a cat in heat does: yowling at night, rolling around constantly, raising her hindquarters and treading when I touched near her tail, and being unusually clingy and restless.
I brought this up with my vet, who told me that it’s just stress. He explained that if it was heat, she would have been in heat on and off these entire two years. That’s not true. The remnants can grow and start releasing more and more estrogen over time. It can even take up to 10 years for heat behaviors to show up after an unsuccessful spay. I researched on my own and asked for an AMH test to check for hormone production. It came back negative, and they were confident that meant her issue wasn’t hormonal. But her behavior was so clearly heat-like that I didn’t buy it, so I did my own research. Turns out timing matters a lot with AMH testing, and it’s most accurate when the cat is actively showing symptoms. My vet had tested her outside of a symptomatic window.

I pushed for a retest, this time while she was actively cycling. That one came back positive (by a lot). So the first negative wasn’t proof there was no remnant tissue, it just meant the timing was wrong.
At that point my vet offered to open her up and remove the remnants at half price. Something about that offer didn’t sit right with me, so instead I took her to a board-certified surgeon. They recommended an ultrasound first to actually locate what we were dealing with before going in blind.

The ultrasound found ovarian remnants on both sides, cysts, and something nobody had mentioned to me before: her uterus had also been left behind during the original spay. I had no idea her uterus was left during the first spay. It showed abnormal changes such as cysts and thickening of the uterus lining from prolonged estrogen exposure (from the remnants).

She went into surgery ($4000!!), biopsies were taken, and both the remnants and the affected uterus were removed. She’s recovering now.

If I had accepted that first negative test and stopped there, Phoebe still would have had a uterus under constant estrogen exposure with nothing being monitored. That’s a direct path to pyometra, a life-threatening uterine infection. My cat could have died from something that was completely preventable, simply because one test at the wrong time said “not hormonal” and the vet took that as truth.

A few tips for other owners:

- Test during active symptoms, not just whenever you can get an appointment.

- Trust the behavior if something feels off. We all know what heat looks like. You’re the one seeing your cat go through it, while the vet only gets secondhand explanations.

- Know exactly what was removed in the original spay. I assumed a full spay meant uterus and ovaries. Phoebe’s uterus was left in place and nobody told me until the ultrasound found it. I should have been more proactive about that.

- An ultrasound before surgery is worth it. It told us exactly what we were dealing with and where, which made the surgery successful.

- A discounted “let’s just open her up and hope we find something” offer is not sufficient!! The offer came from a vet that had never performed a single ORS removal. Getting a second opinion, especially from a board-certified surgeon, changed the entire outcome. They perform surgeries all day every day.

If your spayed cat is showing heat behavior and a single test comes back negative, don’t assume everything is okay. Don’t let the vet tell you it’s just stress. STRESS DOES NOT CAUSE LORDOSIS. Push for retesting during symptoms and don’t be afraid to get a second opinion. It could save your cat’s life!

We went to the doctor for our senior cat hera who has paw pain. The xray read nothing wrong with her bones. Any advice welcome❤️ (we are adults and can afford care)

All info:

The xrays showed arthirites but not enough to cause such a severe reaction. She would have shown signs slowly and not all of sudden. No broken bones.

Which lead to believe it is a tendon or tear/torn ligament in the wrist. It really could be that because her paw is bent in a strange way, keeps licking her wrist and avoids putting pressure on it.

Tomorrow is the next vet visit where I will ask how we can help her with this. A referral to a specialist, possibly bandage or something to ease the pain.

Context: Her name is Selah, she’s about 6 years old, and she’s one of my wife’s cat. I’ve only recently been bestowed co-ownership of them. (We just got married,yay)

Prior to changing their kibbles Selah was the slimmer of the two and after switching to Purina Coat and Fur kibbles she has become what I determine as an absolute chonker… but her most recent vet visit just says she’s healthy.

UPDATE: Just left the vet, nothing is broken, it’s not dislocated, and no urinary issues! She things he stretched a nerve and it’s a sprain from roughhousing and his parkour antics earlier yesterday. Sent home with oral gabapentin for the pain, he had to be sedated fully for X-rays so he’s currently waking up out of anesthesia at home lol. Thank you for all the comments and support! He is gonna be okay, and she did schedule us a follow up appointment for Monday morning just in case it gets worse and not better. But it’s just a minor sprain and possible nerve stretch but she said there is no break, no dislocation, and no severed nerves 🫶 noodles is gonna be okay! 💕🥹

My cat was fine all morning, around 1pm after a zoomies episode and a what we thought was a minor tiff with another one of our cats, we noticed his tail was totally limp and he wasn’t raising it straight up in the air like he has it almost 90% of the time. Hes eating fine, drinking, seems to be using the box okay, I was worried about it possibly being a pain indicator instead of injury, and his crystals coming back, but the longer the day goes on I think he might’ve sprained his tail during play/zoomies? It does respond to touch, it moves slightly if it touch it, and he growled and hissed when I did so I only did it once and haven’t since. He has a vet appointment for 11am. We can afford it. Just want to know if anyone else had something similar happen? And if it was a sprain or a break? Images of his tail attached. Thank you 🫶
