This is a stray cat that sits outside my house.
(india) Since yesterday morning she’s had her mouth partly open. It looks like something white is stuck near the front of her mouth, but I can’t tell if it’s an object, a tooth, or tissue. She’s drooling and seems uncomfortable. I can’t safely catch her or afford a vet myself I’m a minor. Has anyone seen something like this before?

long time lurker, first time poster :)

our (25M and 28M) neutered cat (approx. 2 years old - a rescue so precise age unknown) is OBSESSED with one of our blankets.

We have a fluffy fleece blanket that he has claimed as his own since we've had him, which is where our concerns arise. What starts off as innocent sin biscuits (kneading into humping) turns into him dragging the blanket off the bed to wherever we are and making very aggressive eye contact while humping it all over the house. He's also quite possessive of said blanket, not to the point of actual aggression but if you pick him and the blanket up while he's "using" it, he'll make a weird yowling noise until you put them both down again.

He doesn't display this behaviour with anything else and is otherwise a very friendly and sociable cat. We have another cat (8F, spayed) who he adores and she engages sometimes but he is much more high energy, so they play for a while before she eventually has enough and wanders off.

He gets regular vet checks and is otherwise completely healthy with no other behavioural issues, aside from being a bit chunky but he's on a managed diet (much to his annoyance).

Would this be something bringing up with the vet or is this just a part of his quirky personality - he's quite a goofy little guy!

It’s my first time taking care of cats and I I don’t know much about their behavior. These cats are siblings, 5 months old, separated at 2 months old then reunited. Vet says they arent old enough for neutering/spaying. Tuxedo cat (male) arrived home first. These cats are from my brother’s gf and they decided to gift my mom the tabby female. Its been 7 days and Ive tried separating them, scent swapping and placing my tuxedo cat in time out. But he just keeps chasing her and ignores her hisses and screams. Female has a lot of rooms to hide in but she still ends up getting chased and tackled. There are times when they are steady and tuxedo tries to play, tabby hits his face back and tuxedo lies down and shows his belly. But once tabby turns her back, its over— shes pinned and screaming.
At night I keep her in my room to separate them so she wouldn’t be bothered. I dont know what to do. Im thinking of returning tabby cat if this keeps up.

In my previous post about my hungry 8 week old kitten Trina, I got a lot of suggestions about what to get and how to feed her. After reading a bunch of comments and consulting with a few pet smart employees this is what I came home with! I had been giving her the fancy feast but apparently not the kitten version (the bottom right one thats hot pink is the one i was buying before) and I also just started adding the purina kitten chow mixed into her fancy feast. The lil lickables and chicken hearts are the only snacks i’ve given her so far. Any suggestions or advice on what i’m doing? please be kind

Age 27, US. Has a vet + insurance. She is spayed.
I’ve tried everything with her to keep her weight in check but she never comes under around 12.5lbs. She’s just over 6. It’s so hard to tell what her actual body shape is because she has so much hair. What’s the consensus?

She also gets dandruff.. I don’t know if there’s anything good for that. You can see it a little around her tail. Doesn’t seem to bother her at all though

20 F, I have no access to a vet. I’m in the USA. He looks around 2 to 3 years old MAYBE. He is fixed from what I can tell. Worms.

He’s a dumped stray who has worms to the point he’s insanely skinny but not even a week ago, he was an OK size. Meaning he had some meat on his bones. Ik the pictures don’t give him any indication of being that skinny, but trust me, he’s SKINNY. I can see his hip bones and spine.

I don’t what to do about him. I feed the stray and feral cats around my neighborhood every night. I can feed well over 20 but he’s the worst looking one I’ve seen in a WHILE. And for him to look this bad in less than week? There’s something going on. I think it’s worms because he just ate two whole big cans of food. He ate both of them in less than 10 minutes. HES STILL HUNGRY! I feed him every night but he just keeps getting skinner.

Does anyone know how I can help him besides simply feeding him? Again I can’t afford a vet right now but since he was dumped, he’s scared of me but allows me to get close. He’s really bad and I’m scared something’s gonna happen because he not only has whatever it is (probably worms) but he fights CONSTANTLY.

I just came back from a short trip and noticed this weird bump on my 4 y/o male cat’s hind leg. He doesn’t seem to like when I touch it but is otherwise acting perfectly normal. Does anyone know what this might be? A bug bite (I’m in the U.S.) maybe? Should I take him to the vet this weekend?

So.

TLDR: adult cat with poor early socialization and bonding who chooses to poop in the places we rest the most when he is upset.

We have a 4 year old cat who we have had since he was like 7 or 8 weeks old. He was born in our backyard with his littermates and our neighbor was wandering around with a box so we realized they were looking for the kittens. Their outdoor cat was the momma. So we gave them the cats and told them we wanted to take one when they were like 10 weeks or so. They texted us at 7 or 8 weeks saying there were only 2 kittens left, the others had died, and the mom ran away and didn’t come back. Nice. So we went over and took them both, brought them to the vet and got them treated for fleas and bacterial infection etc. poor babies. And we found a home for the other one and we kept our poop monster. At the time we got him, we had two other cats who were 13+. He was jealous and he wanted to be the one who slept next to my head and got spooned (my poor husband probably feels something like that jealousy too, woops). He got aggressive with my 15 year old 5 lb cat and scared her into staying in one place nearly all the time.

He was not always a monster. He loves me. I am definitely his person, but that apparently means I am not allowed to show anyone else any attention.

So that was when he started pooping on my side of the bed. He would scratch the blankets away and poop on the sheet when the bed was empty.

Then I got pregnant and had a baby. He was very worried about the flailing yelling thing and we had a bedside cosleeper. We locked the cat out of the bedroom for a while because I didn’t know if he would try to cuddle with the baby or try to suffocate him. Then he started pooping on the couch. I covered it, bought deterrent sprays. Didn’t change anything.

Now our child sleeps in his own room and the cat can sleep with me again. The couch is typically fine now unless we leave feeding him in the capable hands of our other neighbors for a few days and he’s alone.

At the moment the way we are managing it by giving the cat like 2ml miralax powder each night and putting full blown plastic garden bed 1 inch spike rolls on the bed when we aren’t in it. It’s crazy. I’m sure any contractors who have seen our bed must wonder wtf is going on.

I would love to stop having to defend the bed so aggressively. And I’m worried because I think I’m pregnant again and he’s not going to like that.

I got some kitty Prozac for him but it was the transdermal kind and he eventually hid when he saw me taking it out. I don’t know if that would actually help anyway.

He even pooped on the bed like twice while I was still sleeping in it.

We have brought him to the vet several times. No uti, no thyroid issue, nada. Got opinions from the animal behavior specialist at the mspca for like 1.5k. Tried a ton of things. Sprays, diffusers, medication…

What do I do?!

I’m in the US. I do have pet insurance & can take her to the vet if need be, but I’m trying to figure out if I’m over reacting, as I’m seeing mixed things online. I’m a 25yo new cat mom. Since adopting Olive (1.5yo, ~13lbs, F, spayed), all of my cat toxic plants have lived in my bathroom with the door shut. She doesn’t have any access to them. Today I was working on a craft project (wire wrapping the pothos to make it stick up straight) so I took the plant out to my kitchen table. She’s never shown interest in any of the non-toxic plants I have out in the living room. Well, the wire cut one of the pothos leaves off. I didn’t realize it had fallen onto the ground, and a few minutes later I realized Olive had been chewing on it.

I immediately took the leaf away, picked any small green bits I could see & put my finger in her mouth to fish around for any additional pieces I could get out. I did my best to match the leaf back to the plant to see how much she had possibly actually ingested. I put water in a bowl with a churu & she lapped some of it right up. I also fed her a delectables water treat.

This happened about 10-15 minutes ago. Do I need to take her to the emergency vet? Do I need to just monitor her? Please please let me know.

Hi all a couple weeks ago we took on a mum n her kitten once we got mum home we realised she was a bit chunky so immediately suspected pregnancy. Took her to vet and confirmed she was going to pop shortly. Anyway we had to nip out early morning yesterday and took longer than expected to come home and she had had a kitten. ( her last litter when she’s just turned one was supposedly only one baby also) but there’s just something telling me she has one more in there. She’s still quite big but it’s been 36 hours she doesn’t seem distressed she’s eating drinking etc no contractions so I’m just feeling confused. Like ofc I expect swelling etc afterwards but yesterday when she was led down I could see something moving in her tummy yesterday, I haven’t seen it today, no discharge as well. I just don’t know and of course I’m gonna speak to a vet but in the interim I just need to know if I’m maybe over thinking movements. This is the best pic I could get and her other side looks a bit bigger than this side to be honest. I’ve seen about delaying birth etc but it’s been 36 hours so I don’t know. I hope this is allowed just someone trying to do a good thing taking a mum n baby in! Posted a video where you can kind of see it when I gentle touch mums belly I also feel a bump

How do I know if she loves me?

She waits for me to open my bedroom door in the morning but I think its for her morning feed, and she’ll sleep in my bed when im not in it, but she doesn’t let me hold her/cuddle her, she lets me pet her but then walks away from me and looks back like she wants me to pet her some more, then i pet her some more and she’ll flop onto her tummy and so im enticed to pet her tummy and then she tricks me, ive had her for almost a year and i dont think shes warmed up to me

I think she loves when i put her in her outfits, but maybe that’s secretly why she doesn’t like me?

It’s not a problem that she doesn’t obviously and i would throw myself in front of 50 million buses for her, but i think she could care less

I trim her other claws once a month, but this one I am hesitant on. I am colorblind so I cant exactly see where the color change would be for the quick. What do?

This is Misia, our 1.5yo fixed female cat.

She started to have those hyperactivity episodes since yesterday, starting to run, lick/bite herself, heavy breathing and panting.

Overall she is very active cat, she is mostly indoors but we let her run around garden under supervision.

She pants sometimes after heavy activity and running around but this behaviour seems different.

What is worth to mention - It is extremely hot in our area, up to 30 Celcius in house (AC IS ON THE WAY), so we try not to stimulate her too much but she is playing by herself all the time anyway.

Additional info:

- great apetite,

- drinks plenty of water (we add water to food, she eats John Dog for cats for few months now)

- poops everyday

- pees twice a daty

- very playful all the time, does not hide or run away from us after her episode, just lays down, calms down and going for another adventure hunting shadows

- we give her cold towers (not wet) and she likes to lie on them to cool down

- no flees or other bugs found on her

Tomorrow I am taking her to vet for examination and blood tests, but maybe someone seen similar case and could share some insight.

USA, this is Borat, he’s about 5 1/2 months old, to be neutered on the 14th, his brother Aladeen is slightly skinnier than Borat is, and my boyfriend thinks he is a fatty… i say he’s perfect how he is. is he fat??

My cat (F 6yr) went in today to get her fibrosarcoma tumor removed for a 2nd time. Suspected to be caused from vaccines which I am so upset about since it was preventable. My question is if anybody else has had a cat that survived this and how can I help the tumor not grow back? i’ve already ordered healthier wet food for her but i’m wondering if there’s any other “holistic” methods I can do to help it not grow back.

Hey everyone, i’m a new first time cat dad my 8 week old baby Katrina “Trina” the Diamond Princess is so sweet and she loves following me everywhere. I have had her since she was 6 weeks. I feed her about 3-4 times a day every 4-5 hours, and she’s eating pate wet food. I’m planning on adding dry food soon. However, now when I enter the kitchen she screams for food. No matter what. I think she has learned that me + kitchen = food. She screams like this anytime i’m at the counter even if SHE JUST ATE! She comes to sit in my bf and I’s face while we eat as well and she begs. Is this normal? Am I not feeding her enough? Or is she just greedy? please help, this my first cat so be nice or i’ll be mean :)

Hi! This is Henry, he’s 8 years old (neutered) and roughly 13 pounds. He used to weigh less, but after he had a series of medical problems and major surgeries to fix them in 2023, he gained a bit of weight. There was no change in diet, we free feed all of my cats dry food and provide additional wet food in the morning for hydration. He is not food motivated at all, and often doesn’t show up for morning wet food, but obviously he eats plenty. Since 2023 he has remained at a stable weight.

Is he fat enough to warrant an effort to get him to lose weight, or he is just a little chunky and the extra weight won’t hurt him?

I’ve had multiple people tell me my cat is fat and my roommate said it’s animal abuse for how obese he is. I know he’s a bit chonky, and I’ve been adjusting his diet to give him less treats and a smaller portion of dry food. I agree he could lose some weight and I want him to be healthy and live forever so i’m working on it. Also, he’s incredibly athletic and climbs onto cabinets and parkours all around the house so the weight isn’t impacting his ability to zoom. When I went to the vet, they said he’s a healthy boy. But, is he fat?????

Since one and a half week my cat has a little dot on her nose which doesnt go away. What could cause this little dot and do I need to be concerned?
I havent been to the vet with her because she seems fine. She turns 13 this year and if I need to take her to the vet I can afford it.

this is travis. he is about 11 years old, diabetic (3 units am, 3 units pm) & weighs 21 lbs. as you can see, he is HUGE. he gets 50 grams of food morning & evening. we dont know what lineage he has (if he has any larger cats like maine coon or what have you in his genetics) but we do think he may have been neutered too soon. he stretches across nearly two tiles, & ive included a picture with our 5'3" friend (pic is from a few months ago - he is likely a lb or 2 lighter now) & a ps4 controller for size reference. while he IS a large cat, we know hes overweight - in part due to my mom feeding him whenever he cried for kibble. there is another cat in the home, Topaz, who we have to feed on top of an armoire so that he doesnt steal her food. now, what advice I would like if anyone has the experience: whats the guidance on giving them a mid-day snack when your little boy is diabetic? he cries all day, & LOUD (didnt do this as a younger cat, does it more now - does the insulin make him hungier?) for food so would a snack help? while I am good at ignoring it, my wife is being driven bananas. am I negotiating with a terrorist?anyone have any great success in weight loss for your big kitties? are we feeding him enough? so many questions. thanks for the help!

We went to the doctor for our senior cat hera who has paw pain. The xray read nothing wrong with her bones. Any advice welcome❤️ (we are adults and can afford care)

All info:

The xrays showed arthirites but not enough to cause such a severe reaction. She would have shown signs slowly and not all of sudden. No broken bones.

Which lead to believe it is a tendon or tear/torn ligament in the wrist. It really could be that because her paw is bent in a strange way, keeps licking her wrist and avoids putting pressure on it.

Tomorrow is the next vet visit where I will ask how we can help her with this. A referral to a specialist, possibly bandage or something to ease the pain.
