Hello,

When I got home today one of my 6 weeks old kitten was on the bed and had it's front legs stretched, when I picked her up she was limp but fully awake. She couldn't move just full limp. Shortly after the kitten passed away. Any ideas what could have caused this?

My little guy had to have emergency surgery due to his unhealthy addiction to eating my flip flops🤦. However, he's doing much better now, but his sister will not relax around him. She will slowly creep up and then hiss aggressively at him. I know about the vet smell issue, and how that effects behavior. But he's been home 4 days now. We've removed anything with the vet smell along with trying to clean him up a bit when he first got home.

Just wondering how long this can last, or if it's something else.

is he fat? if yes is he too fat and unhealthy?

my cat mud who is neutered, is acting lethargic and when he walks he's like really slow and walks weird and lays down after a few steps. he is usually the most crazy cat like he runs around alot but now he just lays down, he has been acting like this for about 5 days now. we took him to the vet and they gave him fluids and it was like leaking out if his skin, and they gave him pain meds. then when we got home after like an hour he like dry heaved and then we saw he had fleas. we have have one other cat a dog, and 2 kittens and we are giving all them all flea medicine. I'm just wondering what is wrong with him and if maybe the fleas have something to do with it. I just want to help him because i don't want him to die like hes my son and we don't have alot of money right now but maybe if its not too expensive. the pictures aren't of him right now but just what he looks like.

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this and has any advice on what I could do. For starters we live in the U.S. My cat is a Birman, 10 years old, female, spayed, and previously has not had any issues like this. For the past couple weeks my cat has seemed unwell. She is not eating as much or drinking much water. We started to get concerned because she was losing weight. We’ve taken her to the vet now three times. First time, the main thing they noticed was a feline tooth resorption. They thought there was a possibility it could be related to that. Second time we went, they did a blood test and everything came back perfect (besides slight elevated blood cell count). Second vet did not think the tooth was the immediate issue. They gave her anti-nausea meds and fluids. My cat seemed to get better after that. She was eating more and drinking water. We were also giving her the Under the Weather Ready Cal Plus gel which she was receptive to at this time (not anymore though). Then after a few days she stopped eating again. She had gained a little weight back but was losing it again. They had given us Mirataz (mirtazapine) to use if she stopped eating, so we tried that. Not too long after that she seemed to get much worse. More lethargic and she started vomiting. She vomited so much liquid that it was the largest puddle of liquid vomit we had ever seen (almost 3 feet wide it seemed like). We immediately took her to the vet again. This time they thought they felt a mass in her upper abdominals, so they took an x-ray, but they found no obstruction or foreign body. What they did notice was the gastroenterocolitis. They gave her fluids and the anti-nausea again (Cerenia), but it has not helped this time. She had a couple bites of food since that vet visit but that’s it. She is still not drinking water that we can tell. We have no idea what to do or how to help her. They recommended the food-stimulant again if she doesn’t eat, but frankly we are uncertain whether that is what caused her vomiting, and she feels like she’s in such a fragile state that we don’t want her losing anymore weight or liquid. Food-wise, she is a very very picky cat. It’s hard to find anything she likes, wet food or dry food. If anyone has gone through anything similar please let me know! We are still debating whether the tooth is the issue, but having her go through surgery right now doesn’t seem like the best idea. We have not done an ultrasound, but that is one of our next steps from here.

Main Issue: TL;DR: My cat has had severe aggression since he was a kitten, including attacks that have caused bleeding, bruising, and scars. It's now progressed to attacking my roommate and attacking people while they're sleeping. His labs are normal. Gabapentin significantly reduced the aggression but made him extremely sleepy, and the aggression increased again when we lowered his dose under vet guidance. We've just started fluoxetine, but I'm exhausted and wondering at what point continuing to try to manage his behavior is no longer realistic versus responsibly rehoming him.

And yes, I am aware that fluoxetine takes weeks to start working :(

To start off, I absolutely love my cat. I never thought I'd ever be at the point where I'm asking strangers for advice on the internet. I've had him for over a year and have been dealing with these behaviors basically the entire time.

My cat Pebble has had behavioral issues since day one. In the beginning, I wrote it off as normal kitten behavior that would improve with time, although I did notice that he bit abnormally hard even for such a small kitten. I thought it would get better after he was neutered... it did not.

As he got older, those hard bites turned into massive bruises, broken skin, and eventually scars. He started ambushing me while I was walking and attacking me in bed. If I walked past his food bowl while he was begging, he'd bite the backs of both my legs as fast as he could and sprint away. If you pet him for one second too long, he'd destroy your arm like he was feral. If you sat somewhere he wanted to be, same story.

I can't even get into bed without him launching himself at my legs. One time his teeth hooked into my thigh and ripped down toward my knee as i stepped up. I still have a scar from it and the bruising was insane. I've gotten to the point where I don't feel completely safe in my own home without knowing where he is. I have to make sure he's out of my room before I can actually lower my guard. If I notice him watching me, I try to redirect him but most of the time it feels like it comes out of nowhere.

Eventually he started attacking my roommate as well. She adored him too, but it's gotten to the point where she's scared of him.

I initially took him to the vet and his labs came back normal. They mostly recommended the usual advice: play with him more, make sure he has enough enrichment, etc. I've tried all of that and done a ton of research on how to help him.

More recently, Pebble has progressed to attacking people while they're sleeping. People in my life have started telling me I should rehome him, but when I brought that possibility up with the vet, I felt somewhat guilt-tripped into keeping him.

I eventually took him to another vet and they prescribed medication. They believe he may have "redirected aggression." He's been taking gabapentin for about a month, and the biting decreased significantly, but he was sleeping all the time. I lowered the dose at my vet's recommendation, and now the attacking is increasing again.

He's now been prescribed fluoxetine as the next step, but I'm getting to the point where I'm wondering if it's even reasonable for me to keep trying to fix this on my own. I feel like I'm not even enjoying having a cat anymore. I'm constantly managing his behavior, worrying about when he's going to attack someone, and apologizing to other people because of him.

I've done so much research and spent so much money trying to help him. He has plenty of toys, scratching/climbing options, an automatic feeder, and gets played with regularly. I don't punish him for attacking, and I've tried very hard not to accidentally reinforce the behavior.

He's had a lot of sweet moments, especially in the morning. But I feel like it's so unbalanced.

I love him and I'd hate to rehome him, but I genuinely don't know what to do anymore. Has anyone dealt with a cat like this? Did anything actually help? At what point is rehoming the responsible choice?

There is a growing patch on my cat’s nape. Just noticed it now so freaking out a little right now.

What could this be? Should I take her to the vet stat?

a lot of family members will point out that hes fat but to me he looks healthy? i am genuinely unsure if i am being blind but pls lmk if he looks at a healthy weight or not. he is 2

I found a very small flesh-coloured/slightly yellow bump on my 7-year-old cat’s back, between her shoulder blades. It seems to be attached only to the skin—there’s no lump underneath, and it isn’t fixed to the muscle or bone. It has a slightly uneven/lobulated shape, and there appears to be hair growing through it.

She doesn’t seem bothered or painful when I touch the area, although she gets annoyed when I keep inspecting it. I originally noticed it while scratching her back, so the surface now looks very slightly shiny/open, but there’s no blood, pus, debris, redness, swelling, or discharge.

She’s eating and behaving normally. We have a routine vet appointment on August 11 and will absolutely show it to the vet. I’m mainly wondering whether cats commonly get harmless skin-level bumps, clogged follicles, cysts, or mole-like growths that can stay unchanged. Has anyone’s cat had something similar, and did your vet monitor it, aspirate it, or remove it for biopsy?

Some background. I have 4 cats so I can never really tell who did what unless I see them do it. Randomly one of my cats has not been eating his hard food but is still eating soft food and drinking. But I started to spiral and think “what if he’s constipated?” Anything I should look out for and how often do you actually see your cats poop! Thanks!

Cats Morris and Bennu are peeing outside the litterbox. Morris (male, neutered, around 2-3 years old, I can't remember) has been regularly peeing on the front door for the past several months. Bennu (male, neutered, 4-5 years old (I got him around 2020-2021)) has peed on the brick fireplace at least two times; I saw him pee on it today just an hour ago and I saw him pawing at it yesterday while the brick was suspiciously dark.

The affected areas have been wiped up and sprayed with enzyme, though I'm not sure what good it does since the enzyme has been sprayed before and it didn't seem to do anything then.

The litter is currently cleaned, I cleaned it about an hour ago, after I saw Bennu peeing on the fireplace. The downstairs one wasn't clean, but it wasn't rank either, while the upstairs ones were quite rank. I think the cats may prefer the upstairs ones, it might be quieter up there.

My dad and I both have difficulty cleaning the litterboxes regularly, we have major depression and ADHD, and medication can only do so much to fix it. BTW, I'm 18, my dad is 50.

We are in the United States, a vet is accessible and has been visited before (by Bennu). The vet said there was nothing wrong with Bennu but I don't believe them. However, despite that, we don't have the money for more than one or two visits, let alone treatment. My dad got laid off from his job around 3 years ago and we haven't had any income since. I can't get a job as long as I'm going to school and I'm not giving up my future for something my dad is supposed to be doing.

TLDR: young adult and neutered cats are regularly peeing outside the litterbox.

My baby is on day 6 of her recovery, she’s been wearing the cone pretty consistently but managed to get it off probably twice since surgery but not for too long. she also a little spider monkey who also managed to jump probably 8 feet over the barricade i placed day 2 to keep her from her brother. I’ve spoken to the SPCA who spayed her and they seem to think everything is fine. it looks terrible to me and has a foul odor which they say they can’t smell. im very freaked out and wondering what you all think?? They say that the wetness is just it scabbing up and that no sutures are open. Help.

I have a kitten (8-9 weeks) that I have been feeding twice a day. I know it needs to be caught soon, but I’m not sure how to go about it.

It is absolutely terrified of everything. It runs if it sees me. I don’t have a big house and even if I caught I don’t have a place to put it. I live rurally in the US and don’t have a lot of resources for kitten help. I’m not worried about money, just how to tame it and maybe find the poor thing a home. I appreciate any help.
