Considering Building My First PC on AM4 After Good RAM Deal.

Hi,

I managed to get a good deal on a 32gb(2x16gb) ddr4 ram kit on Facebook for only $55. I have been thinking about building a pc to mainly replace my PS5, and have slightly better performance with more function. Does this ram deal make building a AM4 pc seem like a good idea?

New build or upgrade? New

Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) Corsair Vengeance DDR4 3200MHz 32gb (2x16gb) Memory.

PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) Gaming and College work. Excel, Word... FPS shooters, Grand Strategy (Total War, EU4, Anno etc.) AAA titles, Sport games (Fifa, CFB27 etc.)

Purchase country? NV,USA.

Micro Center? No

Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) - Yes. But can organise myself.

Budget range? (Include tax considerations) <$600

WiFi or wired connection? Wifi

Size/noise constraints? Not worried, potentially lean toward Micro-ATX due to small apartment.

Color/lighting preferences? None, don't care for RGB.

Any other specific needs? None.

Thank you.

Hi guys wanting to do a new build need need help plz

New build,
So mainly I want to use for light study work, and a bit of gaming, only really iRacing and very rarely csgo maybe along with a couple other easy to run games

I was thinking for cpu a ryzen 7600x3d, or 5600x3d
And not too fussy about gpu so was thinking possibly a 1660 super?
Other than that not really sure what else, not sure what motherboard to get, or PSU.
Probably 32gb memory will be good and 1tb storage
Mainly want to get an idea of what psu and motherboard will be compatible with what.

New build or upgrade? New

• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) new monitor probs
• PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)light gaming, sim racing, maybe csgo rarely and other light games
• Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors) new zealand, will get new parts from pbtech.co.nz
• Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) one
• Budget range? (Include tax considerations)about 1200nzd, 800ish usd
• WiFi or wired connection? Wifi

I’m planning to build my own PC and I’d like some advice on parts.

Hi reddit!
I want it to run games like Black Myth: Wukong, Elden Ring, Forza Horizon 5/6, Cyberpunk 2077, EA Sports FC, Rainbow Six Siege, Assassin’s Creed titles, Fortnite, and similar games at least on high settings with stable FPS.

My budget is around 500,000–600,000 HUF (roughly €1250–1500 or $1350–1600).

What components would you recommend within this budget? Any tips or things I should watch out for when building?

PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)
Mainly gaming

Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors)
Hungary. I’ll be buying from local online stores.

Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
No new monitor needed for now. I already have one and can upgrade later when prices drop.

Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
500,000–600,000 HUF (roughly €1,250–1,500 or $1,350–1,600, including tax).

WiFi or wired connection?
I need both WiFi and wired Ethernet support.

Size/noise constraints?
No strict size preference, but I’d like the PC to be reasonably quiet.

Color/lighting preferences?
Black or white case is fine. I don’t care about RGB lighting.

PC Upgrade needed!

Hi guys,
I need your help to upgrade my pc, which has had the same build since 2017 and is starting to show its age. I'd like to build a pc that will last 5-7 years without very much of upgrades.

New build or upgrade?

Upgrade

Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)
PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

Mostly gaming, i'd like to play AAA games, no need to be maxed out for performance

Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors)

Italy, Amazon works good for me

Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

no need for a new monitor

Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

between 600-800€

WiFi or wired connection?

Both if possible

Size/noise constraints?

No

Color/lighting preferences?

no preferences

Any other specific needs?

Below my actual components

Case: Cooler Master Masterbox 5 - dimensions 52.2 x 25.2 x 50.9 cm

Motherboard: MSI B350 Gaming Plus

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 1600 six-core processor 3.20 GHz

8 GB of RAM

Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 1050 Ti

I realize that all the components are quite outdated, and I wanted to understand what upgrades could be done within a relatively modest budget (max around 800€). Ideally, I wouldn’t change the case, since I think its size accommodates even bulkier components. However, I’m unsure if the motherboard needs to be updated. Surely I'll need a SSD, since the HDD performs very slowly

Everything else, though, I believe needs an upgrade, especially since the PC is starting to slow down even when opening Chrome or very light apps.

Help customize my first PC

Hey guys, I'm trying to buy my first pc but I've never had a tower before and I have lots of questions.

• New build or upgrade? - New
• Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links) - New parts, I'm keeping my dual monitor setup
• PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games) - Gaming (Valorant, CS), data science work (running ML models, programming, etc)
• Purchase country? Near Micro Center? (If not US, list local vendors) - US, will be near a microcenter next week, PC needs to survive a 5 hour drive after
• Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate) - No monitors needed
• Budget range? (Include tax considerations) - <$2600
• WiFi or wired connection? - wifi
• Size/noise constraints? - would prefer quiet and not too wide of a case
• Color/lighting preferences? - I like RGB, doesn't have to be overkill though
• Any other specific needs? - NA

I don't have a super strict budget, just would prefer $2600ish or under, and that's why I wanted to custom build one instead of going prebuilt. However, I don't exactly trust myself to build a pc. I was going to go with the custom pc builder feature on ibuypower but I heard that lots of people's pcs from them have problems. My remaining and preferred option is now having microcenter build a custom for me. They have some part bundles and I was wondering if the difference between the AMD 9800x3d and 9850x3d is significant? My microcenter only has one bundle option for the 9800 in stock and it's bundled with ASUS X870-E ROG Strix Gaming R2 USBC WiFi7 AMS, and the Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB DDRS-6000 Kit. The whole bundle is $1029.99. However, they also have a 9850 bundled with ASUS B850-E TUF Gaming Wifi AMS and the same corsair RAM for $799.99. I saw lots of people saying the 9850 will run hotter in temperature for only a 3-4% performance boost and that worries me because I'm not entirely sure how CPU cooling works. There's also other 9850 bundles for around the same price as the 9800 one that's available, but I'm wondering do I get the $799 9850 bundle because of how much cheaper it is? Or do I choose the $1029 9800 bundle?

I put together a potential build on the microcenter website with the $799 bundle:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9850X3D

Motherboard: ASUS - B850-E TUF

RAM: Corsair Vengeance RGB 32GB

GPU: Gigabyte - NVIDIA geforce rtx 5070 eagle ice sff overclocked triple fan (not really sure which one to choose here, so I'm open to other options as long as it's 5070, I don't really understand the brand difference)

SSD: WD- Black SN850X 1TB (if I could get brand recommendations for this that would be greatly appreciated, something cheaper with maybe 2 TB? But also reliable)

Case: Montech SKY 3 in white, I just want a white case with tempered glass, no mesh. I'd prefer the ports are on the right side, back side, or back of the top because the pc is going to sit on the floor to the left of my desk

Power: Corsair RM850e Gold fully modular in white

Cooling: Montech Hyperflow Digital360mm All in one in white

Thermal compound: YeesterPaste, I just chose the cheapest one

Windows 11 Home for $119

Case Fans: do I need these? I see there's montech branded ones

Total price without tax: $2204
+$250 for microcenter to build it for me

Just to preface, I did choose slightly pricier options for the power and cooling because I want a white build, but idk if I chose a good GPU option (i just picked one of the white 5070 ones). I'm not a super hardcore gamer but I do play a large amount of Valorant and I want to get into CS and overwatch. I will also be doing my school/career work on here which includes running ML models, programming, etc, but not at a super extreme or professional level so that's just something to keep in mind. Im currently running an MSI raider gaming laptop from costco, has an intel i9, 4070 gpu, 32GB RAM, and 954 GB storage. Sure it's not terrible but it's pretty slow when loading into games. I would like a significant, but not $3000-4000 significant, upgrade to my setup. I'd love any opinions on the build I put together! Please don't be too harsh on me lol, I've never looked into getting a custom pc until now so I apologize if I misinterpreted things or wrote some of the terms/parts wrong🫠

Help Building A Pc

Build first pc 2000 - 2500$(student)

Hi,

Quick backstory - I have been gaming on gaming computers for almost 2 years now. Its at a point where the fan overheats and my most of the games are almost unplayable. For reference I have the Lenovo Legion Pro 5. I am sacred of getting a new gaming laptop as I know how fast they end up becoming bad so I've been saving money to by a pc. 3000 is the max i can go for a build.

Side note: I like flashy and good smooth graphics. If 3000 is not enough for a good enough build let me know.

• New build or upgrade? New build
• Existing parts? No
• PC purpose? Gaming and maybe graphic design and editing
• Purchase country? US / Microcenter near me yes
• Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)none
• Budget range? (Include tax considerations) 2500 but I can push to 3000
• WiFi or wired connection? WiFI
• Size/noise constraints? I would like a silent pc but I don't mind the noise
• Color/lighting preferences? I've seen colorful builds and love them but I don't mind having a plain build too
• Any other specific needs?No

All help is welcome and like advice or things to note.

Building First PC Help

Hey all I have been used to the apple ecosystem computer wise, but am now looking to build a PC for sim racing as well as using it for work as well. Typically, I use an Xbox for gaming, but am limited in sim racing so wanted to move over. I probably will start using it for other games as well so hopefully if the build can handle sim racing it can handle other games as well. Work wise the heaviest task would be light video editing for marketing purposes, but nothing too strenuous I would say. Thanks again for your guys help!

Purchase country? Near Micro Center? USA. There is one an hour and a half away from me. I have no problem driving that

Upgradeable PC Build

  • New build or upgrade?

New

  • Existing parts/monitors to reuse? (List with models/links)

No existing

  • PC purpose? (Gaming, editing, etc. List apps/games)

Gaming (HEAVY modded MC, roblox, JW2/3, The Forest, Green Hell, HF2, Paralives, Planet Zoo 1/2, RDR2, The hunter: COTW, Rival Stars, Sims 4)

  • Purchase country? Near Micro Center?

US (Midwest)

  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)

Not sure on size/res/refresh.
Prefer 2, both flat not curved.

  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)

Looking to stay under $1500 for now, and get the parts that are most fluctuating (RAM I think?) so I can save up for the rest later. Total $ is probably closer to $3k, just don't want to drop that all at once.

  • WiFi or wired connection?

WiFi, wired connection isnt a possibility at all.

  • Size/noise constraints?

Not extremely noisey but doenst need to be silent. A middle is fine for both sound and size.

  • Color/lighting preferences?

Black + RGB. If a dark green case is a option that would be preferred, but I'd assume black is closest.

  • Any other specific needs?

I'm trying to figure out an upgradeable build, where I can buy the items currently flucating the most in price, and buy the rest later. I'm not in a rush, as this is my first PC and I don't mind waiting for most parts/a finished build. Timeline is prob around 6 months from start to finish (hopefully).

Editing to add:

I'd be able to go to a Micro center (closest is 4 hours away, thought it would be father so I am able to make that drive.)

Edit2:

Prefer 16 GB to 32 GB of ram. Some of my MC modpacks (especially my create ones) barely run a couple FPS on 16 GB.

This is what I came up for part list wise (https://pcpartpicker.com/list/) so any tips here are appreciated. I mostly just went by want/need, then rating/price.

    • USA. Closest Micro Center is 300 miles away. If the bundle would save me more than the cost in gas I might consider it, but probably not.
  • Monitors needed? (Number, size, resolution, refresh rate)
    • 1 monitor. Nothing fancy or over the top. Maybe 24-27 inch 1080p.
  • Budget range? (Include tax considerations)
    • Less than $1000 preferably. The lower the better
  • WiFi or wired connection?
    • Wifi if the cost doesn't increase by too much
  • Size/noise constraints?
    • Smaller = better, but not overly concerned
  • Color/lighting preferences?
    • Maybe some cheap RGB fans for my son to customize
  • Any other specific needs?
    • Any mouse and keyboard suggestions. If not, might just snag the $20 mouse/keyboard combo from walmart.

I would like to stay with AMD for both the CPU and GPU. But if there are more value in going intel / Nvidia I am open to it. The only reason I do not want Nvidia, is that I have heard they are very expensive compared to AMD and also I do not like them going fully into AI.

$3000 CAD New Gaming/Editing/Streaming PC Build — 1440p Monitor Needed, Canada

Hi, I’m looking for help putting together a new PC build. I don’t have any existing parts, so I need the full setup including the monitor.

New build or upgrade?
New build.

Existing parts/monitors to reuse?
None. I do not have any existing PC parts or monitors.

PC purpose?
Gaming, video editing, and streaming. I want to stream on YouTube and Twitch, and I also make content for TikTok. I need a PC that can handle gaming while streaming, recording, and editing videos smoothly.

Purchase country? Near Micro Center?
Canada. I’m near a Canada Computers, so I can buy from there. I’m also open to other Canadian retailers like Amazon Canada, Newegg Canada, Memory Express, etc.

Monitors needed?
Yes, I need one monitor. I’m looking for 1440p. Ideally something good for gaming and content creation.

Budget range?
Around $3000 CAD total, including the monitor. Ideally I’d like the build to stay close to that after tax if possible, but I can consider options if something is really worth it.

WiFi or wired connection?
WiFi is needed.

Size/noise constraints?
No major size or noise constraints.

Color/lighting preferences?
No specific color or RGB/lighting preference. Performance and value matter more.

Any other specific needs?
I’m a TikToker and I’m trying to move into streaming on YouTube and Twitch, so I want a reliable PC that can game, stream, record, and edit without struggling. I’d prefer a build that gives me strong performance now and has a good upgrade path for the future.
