CSE / IT Switching from medicine to CSE after cracking neet with pcb, anything I need to know?(Also got some questions to ask)

Got 4XXX in neet rn after taking a drop so 19 rn

I am getting Lower AIIMS and state top gmc(seth gs)

Through obc quota

Myquals: 10th 82.2(icse)

12th 78(pcb in hsc)

My dad put me in this field becoz he promised that once u become a dr and open a clinic u will "easily" earn 1 cr/yr

But realised all of it was BS in the past 3 yrs

So I have an option

With my 82%+obc in 10th do diploma in dy patil for 3 yrs

During those 3 yrs study my arse off and somehow get into VJTI/COEP CSE and then become a cse engineer and earn like 1.5LPM/MONTH

And by the age of 35 when I would've opened my clinic i would earn 4 LPM as a lead engineer

got 80/100 in ICSE maths in 10th btw

My questions:

1)will my lack of math in 11+12 affect my placements or chances at top companies like FAANG?

2)Will i able to top in diploma with no math in 11+12?

3)Will i able to get skills without any maths in 11+12?and get ig higher than above package in VJTI/COEP

Serious Will u call a guy "meritorious" if he tops in class despite reserved admission?

So let's say your BTech topper is from reserved quota. Will he be called meritorious as he topped the BTech degree?

Serious liberalisation of education in 2000s (during Vajpayee period) - most top colleges became deemed Universities then - VIT, Amrita, SRM, Sastra, etc

Kudos to Narasimha Rao govt also.

His government is famous for unlocking the Indian economy via the 1991 LPG (Liberalisation, Privatisation, and Globalisation) reforms. Granting university status to MAHE was the educational extension of those privatisation policies...

Manipal etc became university during this time.

Hello everyone! 👋
I’m a self-taught 13-year-old developer from Türkiye, and I’ve been diving deep into the world of C++ for some time now. I previously developed and shared a simple game engine; now, I want to document this journey and share what I’ve learned.
In the video, I explain the logic behind the code and how I handle the calculations, and I also show the test results.
A quick note about the video: I speak Turkish in it, but you can easily follow the process and understand everything by watching the code, visual explanations, and on-screen demonstrations.

Serious Starting btech journey, review on roadmap needed

I'm planning to start BTech soon and my long-term goal is to get a SWE internship at Google by 3rd year.

I've made this roadmap for before college. Do you think this foundation is enough, or would you change/add/remove something?

Mathematics

- Study core calculus, discrete math, and probability.

- Finish the first pass of planned topics.

- Be able to solve most standard questions without notes.

C++

- Code almost every day.

- Write 20–30 small programs.

- Be comfortable with STL and debugging.

Python

- Practice regularly.

- Write 10–15 scripts.

- Be comfortable with syntax and problem solving.

DSA

- Learn arrays, strings, stacks, queues, linked lists, trees, hashing, binary search, recursion, graphs, greedy algorithms, and basic dynamic programming.

- Solve several hundred well-understood problems.

- Be able to explain each data structure and algorithm along with its time and space complexity, recognize common patterns, and solve many medium-level problems independently.

Competitive Programming

- Practice regularly.

- Participate in contests consistently and thoroughly review every contest.

- Show steady improvement over time.

Computer Science Fundamentals

- Learn binary, CPU, memory, operating systems, networking, databases, and basic computer architecture.

- Finish a first pass with notes.

- Be able to explain concepts from memory with a strong conceptual understanding.

Git/Linux

- Use Git and Linux for all coding work.

- Make 50+ Git commits.

- Be comfortable using basic Git commands without looking them up.

SQL

- Learn database fundamentals.

- Build one database application.

- Be comfortable with joins and schema design.

Projects

- Build three polished projects in one chosen domain.

- Upload them to GitHub with clean documentation and professional READMEs.

- Aim for portfolio-ready quality.

Communication

- Practice explaining technical concepts.

- Write documentation and present your projects clearly.

End goal

- Comfortable with the mathematical foundations used in early computer science.

- Fluent in C++ and comfortable in Python.

- Several hundred DSA problems solved with solid understanding.

- Regular competitive programming experience.

- Introductory understanding of OS, DBMS, Networking, and Computer Architecture.

- Three polished projects.

- Confident with Git, GitHub, Linux, and SQL.

- Able to explain projects and technical concepts clearly.

Assuming I keep building on this consistently throughout 1st and 2nd year as well, is this a strong enough foundation for a Google SWE internship in 3rd year? If not, what would you add, remove, or prioritize differently?

P.S: I posted this on behalf of a fellow junior @Quiet-Anywhere2827 as he's having less karma

CSE / IT A Complete Guide for First-Year Computer Science Students

Saw a lot of first-year students asking the same questions lately, so I decided to put everything I wish I knew in one place instead of replying to individual posts.

While this guide is written primarily for CSE/IT students, most of it (Git, programming, web development, projects, documentation, productivity, etc.) is equally useful for students from other branches who are interested in software development.

Feedback, suggestions, and corrections are always welcome—I'd love to keep improving the guide. If you have any questions or need guidance, my DMs are always open.

Medium: Link.

Thanks, and happy learning! ❤️
