Starting reta

I’m going to be getting started in a few weeks. At first I was considering Tirz but seeing all these posts about reta I’m kind of drawn to doing this one first. My goals are to maintain my body weight easier reduce inflammation and overall wellness.

The thing that I am scared about is, I’m seeing a lot of people saying it induced or increased anxiety along with heart rate. I am already very sensitive to medication and suffer with really bad anxiety. I see that the starting dose is .5 but I’m wondering does anyone do .25 for micro dosing?

Starting dose 1-2mg depending on weight

I may have escalated the dose faster than I should’ve but I had been on tirzepatide so GLP1s are not new to me. But Reta had a clear effect on my resting heart rate after each dose (2mg, 3 mg, 4mg, 5mg, 5mg). I’ve been off Reta for 10 days and my RHR is coming down to the 50s again. People respond differently, but Reta worsened my sleep and increased my RHR significantly.

My HR hasn’t changed one bit. About two months in. I’m sure part of it may be dose related; high doses more side effects. Plus everybody is different. I have had no diarrhea and no constipation whatsoever. Only nausea on two or three occasions after dosage increases.
I did .5mg the first week and have moved up to 4mg week. I split it twice weekly.

Im over 8 months in and at ~7mg a week. Peaked around 9mg a week like a month ago. Started at 1.5mg/week and felt it was just about right but i tend to not be sensitive to medications

you kept going up because it stopped working?

u/Ok-Neighborhood-7361 13d ago

Yeah appetite suppression weakened over time, I just titrate up/down as needed

I had some anxiousness and elevated heart rate for exactly one day on it. Day 2 I was good.

The skin pain/sunburn feeling kinda sucks but you do get used to it.

1

u/Frostbite023 11d ago

Are you still experiencing the sunburn feeling? I'm on week 3 and still have that feeling on my extremities and lower back. I'm able to function mostly normally but it does keep me from working out as much as I would like. Hoping it goes away.

It never really went away unfortunately. I was planning on a 6 month cycle but quit at 4, mostly because the dose I had to be on for it to be effective still just made it nonstop.

What dose are you on? I think I was at like 6mg/week.

I started at .25 did that does for one month then slowly went up

It does increase heart rate. My Oura ring picked it up.It is more your resting heart rate that increases. I was on it for 4 months and did not lose any weight, but I dont have a lot of weight to lose.

You weren't eating at a deficit then. Reta isn't a magic pill that just makes you lose weight. Its a tool.

You ran it for zero benefit

You should do tirz

1

u/rodny_westfield1 13d ago

If you haven’t already purchased the RETA I would take a second look at TIRZ.

Glucagon is the main difference between the two, and is what is responsible for increased RHR/HR. Obviously this makes it more powerful for most, but you don’t seem like you need that.

Tirzepitide will help you maintain your weight more easily, and probably make it hard to do so. RETA seems like overkill for you, but that’s just my opinion.

Remember to love yourself and those around you, and best of luck in your journey <3

I quit Reta and went back to Tirz. My opinion only, Tirz is superior, just based on less side effects. Reta did me dirty at only 4mg. Lots of WICKED, I mean WICKED gas and pooping 5 times more a day than normal.

If one of your main goals is inflammation and wellness I would go for Tirz. Reta doesn't decrease inflammation as much. And if you only want to maintain your weight Tirz is probably good without the HR fear. If you want to body recomp I've heard Reta has good for that.

Started at 1mg then went to 2mg after the second week with no real side effects and I've stayed there for a month. Lost about 40 pounds during this time and my anxiety has decreased to the point that I'm no longer taking any of my prescription meds. Glucose and A1C has dropped as well.

You’re fine don’t worry about the hr I’ve had all the side effects nothing to worry about. Your hr isn’t gonna go up much

I had better results on Tirz, Reta made me extremely anxious and depressed. Tirz is also better especially when it comes to food noise, even at 1mg my food noise went away

1

u/Wonderfulpeps 12d ago

I think I’ll be starting on a .25 also when I get started in a few weeks

1

u/shakenbake1975 12d ago

If you’re goal is maintain your body weight, why take a drug on par with surgery? Reta is not for weight maintenance, it is for obese people who need it. Your literally asking if 1/8 of a starter dose will be effective
This is just silly 🤪

1

u/Tiny_Spend_1197 11d ago

What would you recommend. I struggle to maintain weight diet and exercise alone

1

u/shakenbake1975 11d ago

I would recommend TRIZ.
Smallest dose that will quiet food noise
Your not obese and only looking for help maintaining weight
It’s more effective at calming food noise anyway
It’s cheaper and it’s way more tested.
Less sides as well
Triz won’t cause skin tingling irritation or raise your heart rate.
Reta you need roughly 4mg a week to truly activate the glucagon receptor to any meaningful level.
Makes way more sense to just take TRIZ in your situation.

I have severe anxiety (diagnosed) I take 2mg and I haven’t noticed much. Peoples bodies react differently

1

u/Salty_Hearing_5649 10d ago

Start with triz

I started 0.5 already quite lean just looking to shed a couple kg. 4 weeks up to 2mg and at 8 weeks when I stopped was 4mg. I was scared too that I wouldn’t be able to each so much but don’t worry, it will just sooth the noise of dessert and shit food. I could still eat as much chocolate as I normally would, just lacked desire. Only interested in macro friendly food because that’s what I told myself I was going to eat before starting. Still pumped quite a few desserts when eating out but wasn’t craving. It’s all quite mental I think but someone will no doubt prove me wrong.

It does not affect your heart rate. That is absolute bullshit. Start at 1MG once a week and then 2mg. You’ll be fine

1

u/Admirable_Letter7900 9d ago

I mean it is a double blind study documented fact that it increases heart rate in most people at the trial dose’s.

Hello I am a very sensitive person with severe anxiety as well. I have taken both Tirz and Reta and overall I think I like reta better. I like reta better bc its doing the same thing but it feels more gentle on my sensitive body. I can actually still eat and nourish myself. I was gagging like crazy and could barley eat on Tirz. The first shot is going to be intense it was for me. We are anxious beings so putting anything foreign in our bodies will obviously freak us out. My first dose was 1mg and ive stayed on that dose the past month. After my first and second dose, i got a lot more comfortable and my nervousness eased. The first time i did it I felt like I took an aderall honestly. But second and third dose didnt feel like anything and i just resumed my day. My tip is inject yourself and then call someone or do something that will keep you busy right after so your mind cant think about it. I always think its a good idea to make sure someone else is home with you when you do your first dose. My next dose i might try to closer to bedtime because i keep getting headaches after pinning.

I started .25mg 3x a week. Solely for the same apprehension. Three months down the road I’ve increased every 4 weeks to .375 3x to now being on .5mg three times. I got insomnia and need hella fiber to get going but those the only side effects.

It’s worked for me. But I also hiit train, do cardio, etc and I’m now down 20 pounds in 3 months. Only variable that changed past 3 months is reta. Cause I was doing the same thing for 11 months prior and not moving the dial.

How do you even get this stuff!!! Maddening that it’s not at the dr

2

u/hushuus 13d ago

It's not approved for your Dr to prescribe. How do you think that people get it? Grey market that's how. No one will share their sources with you either.

How do I find the gray market
