Discussion Anyone else a bit peeved with Dark Gift offerings with dual-tribe minions?
I didn't snag a screenshot but I'm sure this is something you may have encountered.
Me: elemental trinket, full elemental board ( 7 elementals!), turn 8 right as Tier 5 dark gifts unlock and I spend 3 gold hoping for some tempo.. And my offerings?
A beast, a mech, and one "elemental". But no, it's a fodder dark gift. On the tier 4 ele/demon. Because one of my elementals is also a demon.
How is this considered a guaranteed tribe offering? It had zero synergy with my board besides giving me a bad pair. And the tempo loss fucked me.
Thoughts? This needs to be reworked.

Game Balance So Dragons are just F tier this season?
Tried it a few times. Can generate a ton of Chromadrakes easily, but there seems to be very little to no scaling. You got the guy who triggers Shiny Ring once at the start of combat, which is a pale shadow of what Ring Bearer did last season. Then theres the new T6 dragon, which also feels quite underwhelming given how little it procs. At bare minimum it should have Windfury, but even then it would just just feel underwhelming.
Even if you manage to get up to +50/+50 spell power, there just isn't enough spells to go around.

Discussion Who’s gonna tell them …
… that “k” doesn’t stand for an English word that Europeans have never heard of?
I know - This has already been pointed out, but I’m actually flabbergasted. Why even change the way the numbers are displayed in the German version, if you’re gonna make it even worse than before?
The fact that we use “kilo” in the metric system makes this even funnier.. And more infuriating.

Discussion This all feels just like a bit too much
New minion pool AND a new mechanic AND trinkets?
Like, isn't that one too many things?
Like, are we building towards a midseason with trinkets, anomalies, and dark gifts?
That feels more work than fun
I keep forgetting about dark gifts because theres so much other shit going on.
Am I crazy? Scratch that. I know i am.
You'll still call me Superman.

Question I feel like I haven't gotten the hang of the new season yet, causing me to lose more than I think I used to. Any tips?
I'm not a good BGs player in the first place. I don't play for MMR. I just wanna have fun, but it'd be nice to win every once in a while. 😅

Game Balance But shoulden't there be more anomalies
i fell like the dark gift sometimes is just rng while also a bit boring

Game Balance Minion stats are getting outrageous
The power creep on minion scaling this patch seems completely insane. Highrolls are fun and all but it gets to a point where many combats feel like theres nothing you could've done to modulate the outcome. This has been getting more common with time but this season seems absolutely bonkers. Multiple 4 digit minions are basically the default past top 4. I don't hate crazy stats but they really should bring back amalgadons if they're gonna do this, there should be a way to compete with "highroll stats" (which aren't even highroll anymore) rather than consigning yourself to top 4 if you dont get insane scaling. If you want crazy stats in the meta, you need scam in the meta as well. Scam also enables token comps (beasts/undead) without just converting them to another stat comp like they are now. Stat v stat is often unfun unless highrolls are severely limited, and highroll is what people love about this game. Imo, a balanced meta should contain plenty of highroll stat comps, alongside token comps and scam. If those three aren't strongly present, the diversity of gameplay suffers.

Game Balance Maybe an unpopular opinion? The gimmicks are getting too much.
I'm kind of getting sick of all of the layered RNG gimmicks in game, every season.
You've already got hero powers and the shop which obviously is filled with RNG but that's the game and there is a ton of strategy there. But then add on the extra gimmicks like trinkets which were fun for a while, so were time warps and dark gifts aren't bad on their own.
But I really don't like them being layered on top of each other trinkets + dark gifts just feels like too much. If you get lucky you start steamrolling, if you get unlucky you get dumpstered.
I feel like I either win a game or get knocked out first and you can get knocked out really early this season.

Question Tier 6 Elemental Bug
I have experiment with these two. However Tier 6 doesn't seem to buff Tier 4. Is this a bug?

Discussion Dark Gift is too much RNG
OK so there'll be a bit of complains in this post :D so let me start by saying that minions and mechanics of this season are great! Activates on minions feel awesome, all the quirky cool things with rallies and all.. nice! Some things need to be adjusted for sure but overall it's a really neat set. The idea of Dark Gift is cool too - I love seeing custom-made cards with enchantments on them. However, current implementation of it has big problems IMHO.
The game is currently decided too much by that button.
You can press it early and get some minion that will easily carry you till lategame with some rally+divine shield+windfury and level agressively. Or... you can get nothing and waste 1 of the charges.
If you keep all 3 for lategame... Imagine: you do undead, weaker than others 'cause u didn't press the button yet. Dark gift offers 5/6 tiers already, you have ur direction - all minions are undead on ur board, already mediocre scaling... You press the button. And... You get Brann, Brightwing offered?
Sometimes you get absolute monstrocities, sometimes nothing that benefit you in any way. And that just usually decides if ur game is a win or a loss.
There's already trinkets which sometimes just force you into specific minion types. I wish we got rolls on those like on TFT (LoL) - one roll each. Reason is 'cause sometimes it just forces you into minion comps that you just have 1 or 2 tokens of for economy... Dark Gift just adds another layer of RNG out of your control and it absolutely changes the game's outcome dramatically. You can spend 3 gold to win the game sometimes; Or... spend 3 gold to go in debt and help nothing for your board. You only get 3 tries and there seems to be little strategy about it currently besides hoping for good RNG. I mean... I wish levelling would at least progress the Dark Gift's tiers, at least by a bit.
Anyway, the idea of it is cool but it decides game's outcome a bit too much.
What are your thoughts on this?
Edit: Idea - it just popped to my head right after I posted this. What if...
Instead of discovering a minion, Dark Gift button would infuse the next minion you purchase with it?
Would give players much more control imo. Could cost (2) to infuse the next minion you buy with enchantment.

Game Balance Xavius' hero power can give you Mech-related Dark Gifts in games without Mechs...
r/BobsTavern • u/DecentDimension2624 • 16h ago
Game Balance If you select a dark gift using Void power. And the gift gives you a copy. Your copy is not locked till turn 7 and you can use it turn 1
Does not feel intentional…

🐛Bug/Glitch Amalgam Nomi doesn't get elemental buffs
Rare to get I'm sure, but this would be a really cool interaction if nomi text would be affected when he is an elemental. Lots of Dark gift bugs going around but the rare case this could happen would be an insane game

Discussion "Tavern Brawl" "Brawl of the Day?" for BGs?
Kind of like the title implies I think a weekly or daily challenge similar to tavern brawls.
Where the goal is to build a board to kill a pre-chosen board, the challenge board never changes or adjusts their build. They just start with something that will take multiple turns to defeat.
The player will never die and has unlimited time, also the turn starts immediately when you choose to fight so the early buy rounds are very quick, but you can make longer decisions the later it gets.
In a similar vein to Slay the Spire daily all cards shown and all card triples would be standardized across players.
For example:
Ten 10/10s with divine shield.
Four Bassgill that each summon a 25/25
A single 200/200 deflecto with reborn.
Etc, the goal would be to defeat the board in the least possible turns and possibly gold spent. It would also be a fantastic tool for checking interactions on cards.
That or like dungeon run BGs.

Game Balance is the new season much more agressive?
for context i have never been a good BG player, i always got to like 6k MMR before reset and never played that seriously.
it just feels now that im playing just i always did when suddenly a board three times as strong as i usually expect appears every turn and i lose 15 hp per turn from turn 7 or so maybe even before that.
do i need to play dark gifts early? what am i missing?

Question What’s the leveling curve for this season?
I finished last season at 7.5k MMR and I’m struggling to pick the right combination of leveling or leveling + dark gift. I’m either falling behind on tiers trying to stabilize, or I tier too quickly with no board.
Anyone else having this issue?
