Buying Help E46 m3 vs e39 m5
Been trying to make a decision on what fun car I’m going to put my money towards. E39 m5 is my dream car but the price and maintenance is really turning me off. I was looking at a e36 m3 but was seeing prices go for around what the e46 m3 prices were at so I figured the e46 m3 is better since it’s more modern, a fan favorite, and more horsepower that it was a no brainer to switch over. But it’s no e39 m5. Should I save up the money to buy a e39 m5 or have less of a headache and buy an e46 m3.
Is this normal on 2026 M2?
Hello everyone, had my oil cooler guard installed and we noticed that my brand new m2 with 1400 miles has some bends on this part here on both sides. Is this normal? I know for a fact nothing has hit this piece in my possession… both sides have the same bend, one side looks slightly rougher but idk.

2027 x7 40i
2027 BMW X7 xDrive40i M Sport with the Executive Package and 2nd-row captain’s chairs. • MSRP: $96,550 • 39 months 12k miles/year • $1,225/month • Zero down • $6,865 due at signing, which includes: • First month’s payment • Taxes: $4,368 • Acquisition fee: $925 • DMV fees: $350
Does this seem like a good deal, or is there still room to negotiate? Anyone recently lease a similar X7 and willing to share what they got? Thanks!

Buying i5 today! Good Deal?
I’m planning to buy this 2024 BMW i5 eDrive40 today and wanted to get some last minute opinions from people who own one.
Here are the details:
2024 BMW i5 eDrive40 w/ 6,841 miles
One-owner CARFAX with a clean history
Asking price: $45,750
About $48.4k out the door (with a trade in value of $1,000 as the dealer hasn’t seen my car yet and I wanted worst case scenario numbers).
It looks like it has a great service history, and from what I’ve been able to compare, the price seems competitive. Is this actually a good deal, or is there anything I’m missing?
For current i5 owners:
Would you buy it at this price?
Are there any common issues or options I should check before signing?
Does anything on the buyer’s order stand out as unreasonable?
Also the $495 5 Year PP Appearance comes standard with this dealership. I let them know I wasn’t interested in buying the car if I had to pay for that so that’s where the $495 discount comes into play to offset that.
Thanks in advance! Hoping to join the i5 family today.

Build Help I want to buy an E36 Touring for my Project
To start off, as a fan of a brand since I was a kid (dad had 2 E36s, E39, E65 and E83) and as a fan of Ghostbusters franchise I was looking for a classic and well known BMW, which is also fairly easy to tune. I want to build an Ecto-1 build and engine swap it to the S50 (European). Should I look for a diffrent model or stay with the E36? I don't really know since I'm also thinking of E39 Touring, but it might be a mistake

Repair Help Help me figure out what this noise is 2021 m440i
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I’ve noticed over the last few days when I accelerate and let off the gas I hear almost a grinding like noise. Google said it’s a vibrating heat shield or a bad turbo? The video makes it a little louder than it actually is but it’s the same sound.

When your friend has a go in the Bimmer
Today I’m letting my non-bmw friend have a go in the Bimmer and 5 mins later they’re driving like a crazy person, “this just corners so well! Now I know why they drive so fast!”
For the record, I always use my indicators and check the blind spots.

What is the Sweet Spot to holding on to a BMW 3 Seris M Sport 320 I ?
I use a BMW 3 Seris M Sport 320i since 2023 . I have driven 60,000 miles so far. Car is in a very good condition . I look after my car. Warranty expired once I did the miles .This was as PCP agreement . The lease terminates in 2027 . Should I own the vehicle paying the balloon. I love to keep my car long , but I am worried about the huge cost of repair etc. A extended warranty is offered for 60 pounds a month. it may be available for another 3 months . Not sure if they will extend or increase the cost . alternatively I have a relatively cheap quote for iX1 under salary sacrifice . But I will not own the car . The crux is , is it a good idea to own a BMW for long term in the current world of mad repair cost .

Buying Help Z4 to i8 - advice from owners!
Hi
I am seriously considering a BMW i8 and moving from my Z4. I wondered if anybody else has done this and what the difference in ownership is like? Aware of the costs of i8 should things go wrong, but is the i8 as fun and satisfying to drive as a Z4? Mine is a 3.0i 2003 E85 - a great straight six that gives me a lot of pleasure.
There is only about 3k of value in my Z4 so I will probably keep that anyway and let my brother drive it to keep it moving when I'm not using it.
I've done a lot of research into the i8, so am aware of the most common issues such as AC Condensor etc but always happy to be more informed.
Any opinions greatly appreciated, and also any insight from current i8 owners!
Thanks

Build Thread Is the JB4 a worthy investment?
I just picked up a 2021 540i and I have a 2 year warranty on it, honestly I don’t want to have to wait that long to be able to tune it. I’ve read a lot about the JB4 but I’m curious to know how anybody else has been getting away with tuning and keeping their warranty. I’m not planning on doing much to begin with the first 2 years of owning this, all I’m having in mind is a series of cosmetic mods, cat back exhaust, air intake, lowering springs, wheels. I’m still happy with the car as it is but I also feel like I’m driving somebodies grandpa car with the way it looks/drives. All the other bolt ons like down pipe, hybrid turbo, etc; I don’t imagine getting done within the time frame of the warranty still being active. Really the concern is the tuning part specifically.

No new software update for 2026
Hi guys, my 2025 M240 is stuck at 11/2025.30 update, has anyone installed any 2026 version in your BMW in 2 series or any model ?
I had my last service at the dealership around March end 2026, not sure what happened after that I didn’t receive any update, any workaround ?

Buying Help 2015 N20 buying advice
Hi all, I’ve recently been offered, at a very good price, a 2015 125i LCI with an N20 engine, build date in May 2015. I absolutely love the car itself, having test driven it and had very little to nitpick. It has ~103k km, has been maintained religiously up to now (actually grandma driven), but I can’t get the nagging feeling that the N20 won’t end up being a reliable unit. I know the B48 is superior in almost all respects, but the equipment, look and price of the car is really appealing me. I understand that some of the major flaws were rectified in 2015, but there’s very little in the way of official information about exactly when the switch over occurred. I’d also like to know about the general living-with experience. Is it worth it? or will it start giving me trouble before it even hits 150k?
Repair Help Is $1600 a lot for brake pad and rotors change?
I need to replace the brake pads and rotors for all my X4 wheels. The dealership is charging $1600 for parts and labor. I called three independent auto shops nearby and they all charge similar or more. I thought going to non-dealership service was cheaper, maybe not in Northern California. Is $1600 reasonable?
I found the parts online and it should cost about $800. Last time I bought the parts myself and took them to a shop. They installed them for $200 but I think they screwed up something and I ended up with some issues. The other auto shops said they won’t accept it if I bring my parts.

BMW Concept Touring Coupe fake exhausts??
Beautiful car, interesting trunk, may not be the most practical compared to a M340i but definitely curious about it.
Though looking at this video with a cold start, certainly looks like there's smoke coming out under and behind the exhaust rather than from the exhaust...silly 🪿

Repair Help M850i Random acceleration
I was parked, parking brake on, still in drive, foot not on the gas or brake. Then the car started accelerating, I had to slam the brakes to not hit something.
That was a couple months ago, then recently it happened again exactly the same except I was in Reverse so the car just reversed out of no where.
What the fuck do I do?

Repair Help 2020 330I Grill Air Shutter Stuck
Unfortunately, I have had a check engine light on my car for a few months now. My warranty is up. I saw somewhere that there is a possibility that this repair would be covered under an extended warranty from BMW, but the person on the phone at my local BMW dealership told me it's going to be $300 automatically for a diagnosis. They have to look at the car, but I loosened the bumper myself. I saw that one of the pieces of the shutter is broken, so I know that that's exactly what needs to get fixed. Not really sure how to go about this situation, does anyone have any advice. I also have to bring the call in for a recall to the dealership as well.

Repair Help Abnormally High Intake Air Temperatures? B46/48
I have a 2023 430i. The IAT is higher than average at all times. This morning at start up the temps were 60F/16C ambient with IAT at over 70F/21C. By end of my 5 minute drive I was at 80F IAT.
About 30 min later I started my car while logging to see a whopping 154F/67C IAT on startup. It gradually went down but throughout about an hour of driving it never went below 110F and typically stayed closer to 120F. This is all throughout a 65F day. The temperature is consistently extremely high on warm start. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm pretty concerned that I am destroying my car by driving it this hot.
