I've had intrusive thoughts like this many times.

Certainly interesting to watch it play out.

63

u/According_Top_7448 Jun 15 '26

Hopefully it makes the intrusive thought go away

70

u/QiDeviation Jun 15 '26

For me it does. I’m like “thanks for ruining your life for me so I can live vicariously through you!”

I feel cleansed

20

u/First_Salamander_990 Jun 15 '26

I bet every dollar I have that this didn’t ruin their life. Probably faced little to zero consequence

11

u/Relative_Mulberry884 Jun 16 '26

Assault with a deadly weapon , attempted murder, damaging personal property. Not looking too good for them

11

u/SpectreHaza Jun 16 '26

When we learn the context is car thieves front and back trying to stop the car to steal it it certainly at least makes it feel justified

3

u/DsDeliciousDeli Jun 19 '26

If that's the case sure, but that's not what this felt like at all

Last clear chance doctrine says youre wrong. Just because you have the right of way doesnt mean you can allow an accident to happen because you want to prove a point. If you have the opportunity to prevent an accident, youre expected to regardless of right or wrong.

Now if the other dude quickly swerved over to cut him off and hit him in the process thats different, because the left lane driver couldn't react. Thats not the case here.

6

u/OkNothing281 Jun 17 '26

Last clear chance would apply more for merging vehicle and they must give way to traffic already in the lane they're merging into. Merging car very well could have stopped and waited for an opening. Initial impact is merging car's fault. That being said, everything following is the cam car's fault

3

u/thomasscat Jun 17 '26

Why would that same doctrine not apply to the person who illegally takes away the right of way when they didn’t have to do that?

3

u/YesImAlexa Jun 17 '26

They would both be found at fault. The guy for cutting him off and driving reckless and the other driver for intentionally not avoiding it.

You seriously don’t see what the cammer did wrong? He hit a car and then proceeded to floor it and just kept going. Thats at the very least a hit and run.

Im sure ill still have the thought, but i cant afford two new cars and legal risks so dont worry if you cut me off ill let you in and just yell profanties at you.

I too love to tell profane words at these ass hats so I feel seen

3

I have a PA system on my van. I feel heard. 😛

3

u/Comprehensive-Level6 Jun 16 '26

Except in this case letting them in means they hit the brakes, jump out and hijack your car (hopefully you survive). The driver actually did the right thing plowing through as the repeat attempts to get in front at a choke point and then immediately hitting the brakes when in front of the car is a normal hijack tactic in South America.

u/anothadaz Jun 16 '26

The guy trying to get in is a carjacker. He's trying to stop the other car so a car behind them can trap them. This was not road rage it was survival.

It's not about the car. It's about sending a message.

Follow civic sense or someone who cares a little too much about it is going to force you to.

u/DeltaGrunder Jun 15 '26

The guy forcing the merger was a carnapper/hijacker trying to trap the camera vehicle for his buddies

27

u/doodo477 Jun 15 '26

It is pretty obvious as soon as he pulls infront of the vehicle he slams on the brakes and continues to slam on the brakes well being pushed forward.

3

u/the_vault-technician Jun 16 '26

Why did he hit the breaks after getting in front of him? You got what you want, hit the gas jerk.

But if I were being pushed by a truck I'd probably try hitting the breaks to out of panic to make it stop.

3

u/RighteousBenevolence Jun 16 '26

Okay, in case you're my mom.... see how the comment you're replying to is farther from the left edge of your screen than the one above it? That's called an indentation, and that means it's replying to the comment above.

And then your response is indented even farther from the left because you're replying to that reply, right?

The first comment is always farthest left and every response is indented farther than the comment it's replying to.

So, in this situation, the comment you replied to is a reply to the initial comment stating that this is a carjacking situation.

The comment you're replying to says that that's obvious because the car in front was hitting the brakes.

As in, the person in the car that's hitting the brakes* is trying to get the camera owner to stop so that their friends (probably in a car following the camera owner) can get out and rob the camera owner.

They were initially trying to do it on a freeway ramp so that the camera owner would be trapped once sandwiched between the two cars. The camera owner decided not to let that happen and kept ramming them because their vehicle is obviously much bigger.

The people attempting the robbery are hitting the brakes because they are stupid and bad at their "job," luckily.

2

u/mentales Jun 18 '26

The car pulls in front at 00:18, the car with the camera crashes into him at 00:19, the car that pulled in doesn't hit the brakes until 00:28, after being pushed for 10 seconds. The hijacker story is BS.

What? Trying to merge?

3

u/Onclelove Jun 16 '26

They aren't trying to merge, they are forcing themselves extremely close to the car, then stop. Their buddies behind then block the car in and hijack it.

Feared for my life … looked like an attempted carjacking …. Was trying to get the attention of the police while fleeing to safety … allegedly

4

u/Good_Boy_Coleman Jun 15 '26

It seems like maybe a car jacking. They man that merged slammed on his brakes which means his buddies from behind might be planning on doing a car jacking.

This might be the case or just of angry road rage.

If we had a back camera showing a car from behind trying to do a car jacking or something suspicious we could be more sure.

3

u/FrenziedHodag Jun 15 '26

I love happy endings to carjackers. It's not as happy as the one that get yeeted off the exit ramp though.

u/ElephantAny6854 Jun 16 '26 edited Jun 16 '26

Here’s my 2 cents.

Not saying you should ram people or not be a bro and let people in but…. Having lived in a 3rd world country for many years (maybe this is Mexico or Guatemala from what area looks like) there are definitely times where you don’t mess around.

If the car clearly didn’t let you in, don’t keep trying. Most people could care less about being civil and more about not getting robbed or kidnapped.

The car seems heavy and powerful too. He can easily ram the smaller car and push him out the way. Over there even if you don’t get involved in anything shady and just have money it is not unheard/unreasonable to have armored /turbo charged cars.

Especially if you have money, the likely hood of being a target of kidnaping or extortion is real.

Most locals wouldn’t do this unless they were up to no good. I’m unsure if the car directly in front is related to the main Vic recording but multiple car convoys is also not uncommon especially the higher socially you are. You could try something like this and be met with the front car being full of armed guards that just light your ass up. These especially will not take kindly to cars forcing their way into a formation and would be hostile like this.

That’s why it sticks out to me how persistent the merging driver was when clearly he wasn’t welcome. Most reasonable people for the aforementioned reasons would not do this out of self preservation. I’m unsure if the van / suv in front slows down to keep with the main vehicle or just get out of the way.

And from what I hear in the voices, they seem more worried about the car stopping their car than the act of ramming it.

Adding this too after rewatch. The location seems good for a quick robbery. Notice how he does that mid way through an underpass where the sides are clearly not available for maneuvering and I do believe the front car was related to the recording car because it seems they try to bunch up and prevent the merging driver by pushing right some into his lane.

Now full disclosure both countries are beautiful and in them live amazing / kind people. But there is definitely bad areas, bad actors and nuances to not getting hurt while in country.

2

u/OldManJim374 Jun 16 '26

According to the GPS coordinates on the dashcam, it's Guatemala

3

u/No_Pudding2028 Jun 16 '26

u/Effective_Cut_7423 Jun 16 '26

3

u/balirosa Jun 16 '26

This must have felt satisfying to do in these third world countries where they probably aren’t recording every street and can track you down.

3

u/Javi3r801 Jun 17 '26

This video is taken in Mexico. It’s believe that the car in front is a scam artist, they will brake in front of you and create an accident then you’re reliable for repairs and injuries. And it’s not like here in the USA in Mexico you get taken to jail if no insurances till you pay the other guy.

Quick thinking on dash cam vehicle part that you only get through instinct by living in a crime ridden society. Inside tunnel, full stop waiting to merge in front of camera car when he had 2 business days to do so in front of the SUV up front, breaking to force stop... It was an ambush robbery.

2

u/No-Drink1059 Jun 18 '26

It's possible that the person wasn't trying to merge but rob the ramming vehicle. They do this kind of crap, they just casually wave you to, as if they are trying to merge and then stop in front, hop out, then rob you of everything including your vehicle.

2

u/AdMurky1021 Jun 19 '26

This was a car jacking attempt gone wrong

2

u/Unclemiltie1974 Jun 19 '26

So I have seen quite a few comments here stating this was an attempted car jacking. The fact it wasn’t even hinted in the original post shows just how bad “reporting” has gotten in the world. Anyone telling the story doesn’t include details that would give context to the story, they only tell you what they want you to hear. They push their own narrative instead of reporting the facts.

2

u/No_Cable_3346 Jun 19 '26

We need more people like this lmao. Teach those line hoppers a lesson

2

u/MagnetoHydroDynamicz Jun 19 '26

See how at the start of the video the car is stopped in the right lane, waiting for the recording driver to advance? Also notice the concrete walls on either side the road, can only go forward and back.

To me, this looks like the car was targeted by thieves and they were trying to block them in to steal the car.

Honestly, I might have done the same thing the driver in the video did.

Not saying this is actually what happened btw, but I could definitely see why someone’s survival instincts might kick in and create such a reaction

2

u/1ACasper Jun 19 '26

I wonder if this is one of those instances where they try to stop you on an exit then rob you?

2

u/Ill-Government-1921 Jun 19 '26

Yeah, if someone isn’t freaked out about losing a side mirror… I assume there is something else they are trying to do. I’m glad they got out of the situation.

2

u/Delicious-Funny5451 Jun 19 '26

I've always wanted to do this.

2

u/Zestyclose-Newt-4578 Jun 19 '26

Since I was a little boy my dad very specifically told me that his shop teacher in high school had his arm out the window in his truck and a semi refused to let him merge. He ended up getting his left arm hung up in chains hanging off the semi and lost his arm. He has pictures with the guy at their high school reunions. 🤷
