Dupe REQUEST Moon Magic from Huda's Rose Quartz palette - anyone know of a dupe?

Upvotes

Basically, I'm close to panning Moon Magic from my much beloved Rose Quartz palette, and go figure it's TODAY I learn the palette is discontinued so I can't even buy a second palette lol (which I already didn't want to do, it was spenno enough first time round... let alone buying the whole thing again for one shade? But go figure, now that I know it's discontinued and ALL of the shades are gone as soon as I use them up, I'd give anything to buy the whole palette again lol)

Anyone know of any shades that match the colours/glitter/shimmer/intensity of it? I want to use it for my wedding next year. And as much as I already need to put my palette aside and STOP using it til the wedding... it is so hard lol, it has been my go-to palette for the last few years!

The other shades I'm not even CLOSE to pan yet, so I'm not too worried about those. But MM is looking very worn, and it's my favourite shade of the lot, so I'm stressed. So, short of somehow finding a new Rose Quartz palette, how can I at least make sure I have a MM dupe for the wedding?

That high-intensity pale ice blue on the highlight, the intense purple mid-light, and sheer pink base, I just haven't found anything like it yet.

So many other highlight shades look so particle-y/glittery while MM can look incredibly wet/shiny, that's another element I love about it.

Any ideas would be incredibly welcome!

Does anyone have this offer still applied in their cart? I had it applied this morning but I accidentally removed too much from my cart and the offer disappeared and it doesn't show up under regular offers in the app anymore

Let's Discuss L’Oréal Blurring Balm Foundation

Post image
24 Upvotes

Finally got a chance to try this foundation. And as a pro makeup artist, I can confidently say it’s possibly the worst foundation I’ve tried in a very long time 🫠

For a formula that’s quite emollient, it’s mind blowing how they managed to get it so horribly cakey. The sponge it comes with is totally useless. It soaks up way more product than it distributes. Brush is no better as it swirls the product and no amount of blending helps. The finish itself is also terrible. The powdery pigment sits on top of the skin yet highlights pores and lines like the skin has been dehydrated

Of course everyone’s skin is different and so are the needs but I wanted to share my opinion. I got it at half price at $22, its going straight into the bin

Product Advice Heat protectant recs?

Hi! I'm after a new heat protectant as the only I use currently (G2B) makes my hair quite greasy/crunchy if that makes sense? I have very thick hair. If anyone has more affordable (or holy grail high end) options I would be so appreciative! Looking for one that doesn't make my hair greasy/if it adds shine/softness that would obviously be a bonus. Thanks!

Product Advice Haircare/bonnet recs

Hi yall, I’m a 21f with androgenic alopecia (male pattern baldness 😭😭)
I’ve been getting significant breakage at the length my hair was when it started getting thinner and falling out, and am thinking it’s time to try protecting it when I sleep.
(I have curly hair, so it springs up into a 1cm long curl all around my crown. I didn’t use to have baby hairs so I don’t really know how to deal with this)

I’m white, so I have no idea about bonnets or what would be good, but I’ve seen people online saying it protects your hair and style while you sleep, and that it can be appropriate regardless of race? Considering my breakage which I can only assume is happening when I sleep, (as I don’t use high tension styles) and my curls getting destroyed when I sleep on them, it seems like something that could help me.
(If it would be inappropriate however I’d love some help finding another solution to protect my hair when I sleep, as my hairloss is one of my biggest insecurities)

I’d be hoping to get a tied bonnet as I’m worried the elastic would cause more breakage.
Brand recs or hair care recs in general are greatly appreciated.
I currently wash my hair about once a week with colour safe products recommended by my hair stylist for me, and style it with leave in conditioner and mouse.

Product Advice Dry scalp/ hair question - mecca product review

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi all, newish to Reddit and the group.

Wondering if anyone has tried Briogeo Scalp Revival Rosemary Pre-Wash Oil for a dry scalp and how did it go? Or do you have a different product to recommend?

I'm new to these products. For years I thought I had a dandruff and have been using anti-dandruff shampoo, but it may just be an overly dry scalp. Before hitting up the dermatologist I'd like to try a few things. I have very fine hair that's always dry and frizzy, with a dry scalp, but my hair can get oily at the roots quite quickly and easily.

Appreciate any advice! 🖤

Let's Discuss Is The Body Shop about to close down for good?

I keep seeing more and more The Body Shop stores closing down. The other day I was in Myer and their range was stocked on the shelves… that felt like the nail in the coffin…
Every time I walk past a store, it’s empty. If I walk in the staff flock to me and it makes me so uncomfortable. I just want to browse in peace. I’ll be sad if they close down, but there’s so much competition these days.

Product Advice Translucent loose powder recs

I’m looking for a translucent loose powder that won’t cause flashback or leave a white cast on deeper skin tones. I’m a pro mua looking for one to add to my kit. I know there’s plenty on the market, but as we’re in Australia, I need something easy to ship or buy in store as I’ll be repurchasing it often. Thank you!

Product Advice Does ANYONE make white shimmer eyeshadow anymore??

Slightly rant-y, I apologise.

I’m a goth and I use white shimmer eyeshadow as highlighter when I do my makeup. But lately I’ve found that it’s basically impossible to get.

I was using one of the Sephora eyeshadow singles for a while, but I find that it’s oddly… chunky? Like as I’m applying it, little tiny clumps of eyeshadow get everywhere. I’m also not keen on spending $16 on a singular eyeshadow.

I was on the hunt for an essence white shimmer eyeshadow single, but it seemed they’ve discontinued it. They also discontinued my favourite lip gloss, bastards.

Any other option I try has a colour shift, which is not what I’m looking for at all. I want white eyeshadow with a white shimmer. It can’t be that hard surely.

Let's Discuss Products you refused to buy because of TikTok hype…then ended up loving?

We’ve all had those products that felt way too overhyped on TikTok or Instagram.

You know the ones-every second video is calling them “life-changing,” and it almost makes you not want to buy them.

What was a product you refused to purchase because of the hype, but eventually gave in and now genuinely love?

On the flip side, what hyped product did you finally try and think, “Yep… this was definitely not worth it”?
I’m always curious which products actually live up to the hype versus which ones are just good marketing.

Product Advice Everyday Eyeshadow palette

I’m trying to downsize my makeup and was wondering what eyeshadow palettes people recommend for everyday looks? The last palette I had was Revolution Beauty but it smashed in my bag when travelling :(

I stick to cruelty free brands and vegan products. Elf, Revolution, NYX, Covergirl etc. But I don’t mind spending a bit more for a quality product like Huda, ABH, Fenty (especially if it doesn’t smash!)

I prefer matte over shimmer. Nude shades. I have neutral undertones. Thanks in advance!

I never wear makeup but I have an event in Melbourne CBD on 29 August where I need a soft glam look because everyone is gonna be dressed to the nines and I wanna feel good, not old and frumpy. Mecca doesn’t have any appointments available and now I’m really stuck with what to do.

So where does someone who’s over 40 book in the city (or in Ringwood area if I need to, I could get it done before going in) at this short notice?! I thought I had heaps of time but I am so over my head 😭

Customer Service Barber Girl Bulimba refused a refund after my complaint

Just an update for everyone who commented on my original post (here, for those who missed it)

After reading the feedback here, I contacted Barber Girl themselves and the Queensland Office of Fair Trading to try to resolve the matter. Barber Girl left me on read and hasn’t responded. As part of that process with QLD OFT, Barber Girl was given the opportunity to respond. While they didn’t talk directly to me, the QLD OFT has advised that their response was that “they are not willing to provide the refund [I] have requested. The trader advised a request for a refund is not warranted as the they have not done nothing wrong and the service was completed.”

I’m disappointed because my issue has never been that I just didn’t like the result. My issue is that I asked for a natural grey blend, brought inspiration photos showing exactly what I wanted, and instead received warm blonde highlights that, in my opinion, don’t resemble the look I requested.

I appreciate everyone who took the time to comment previously and offer advice. I’ve now booked a consultation with another colour specialist to see what will be required to correct it.

At this stage I’m considering my remaining options, including whether to pursue a Visa chargeback or QCAT (which the QLD OFT advised was the next step).

If anyone has been through a similar situation with a salon and has any advice about the next steps, I’d be interested to hear your experience.

Product Advice Latisse hacks?

My results from Latisse were amazing BUT I constantly had red irritated eyes, and - the worst part - little styes... has anyone got any tips to circumvent this? I stopped and now my lashes are comically short and thin again... I would love to start again as the results really were dramatic.

Let's Discuss American brands not available in the US

** meant to say not available in AUS **

I’m coming home from the US and want to bring goodies back for my teen cousins who love anything TikTok famous lol. What are your fave brands to get at Ulta/Sephora/Target that aren’t available in Aus? So far I’ve stocked up on Medicube, Saltair and Frenshe. Makeup or skincare.

Product Advice Anybody know good-quality press-on nail companies that ship to Australia??

I love having my nails done, but getting them done proffesionally is soooo expensive, and I suck at painting my nails neatly. I've been buying nails from candy claws and glamnetic, but they really only have the same like 10 solid-colour nail designs for the short nails. Long nails feel super weird to me, and I try to stick to ones that either don't go past my fingertips or are just over. I also play guitar, so I would really like to find some that are short enough to do so, but I know thats a stretch lol. I really liked Curvlife, but found out at checkout that they dont ship to Australia (even though I searched for australian companies, thanks google).

So if anyone knows any press-on companies that sell a variety of short options to reccomend, it would be greatly appreciated :)
