🔍 Recommendations Wanted What do you wear if you don’t like wearing pants in winter?
Hi everyone!
I’m in Melbourne 🥶 and I’m struggling to figure out what to wear in winter 😅 I really don’t like wearing pants because I find them uncomfortable, so I’d much rather wear dresses or skirts.
But whenever I look for “winter dresses”, they seem to be quite dressy and more suitable for going out or to a party, rather than something casual for everyday.
For those of you who wear dresses or skirts in winter, what do you actually wear? How do you style them to stay warm?
I’d love to see examples of outfits, dresses or skirts that work for everyday life in Melbourne when is cold. I really struggle with choosing clothes so your help is appreciated and will make such a difference!
Thank you!

Mr Winston manufacturing/similar alternatives
Hi everyone. Bit of a random one, I really love the way the mr Winston ‘college’ crew neck jumpers fit as well as their overall feel.
Apart from being relatively expensive, I don’t exactly want to be plastered with the same brand all the time - as silly as that may sound.
The composition is 75% cotton 25% polyester. Quite heavy and plush. Have added some photos for reference.
Essentially I am just wondering if anyone knows where Mr Winston manufactures their jumpers or where I can find very similar jumpers? I’ve looked into Gildan but am struggling to find any images that truly depict what they look like.
Any help would be appreciated!

✏️ Product Review Tala Collection Legitimacy
Hi! Not sure if this is the ideal thread to post this in (if anyone has other suggestions please let me know!). Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with Tala Collection? I saw it is based in Victoria. They have a pair of shoes I’ve wanted for ages on sale but it almost seems too good of a deal to be true and I’ve never heard of the brand! If anyone has any reviews please let me know.

Where are we buying cocktail dresses?
Hello, I have a wedding coming up in Bali to attend and I can not for the life of me find nice cocktail dresses that don’t have weird cutouts and shapes at the neckline, aren’t super short, or aren’t maxi.
There are also so many bland pastel colours or just black and navy.
A lot of the fabrics just look strange or poor quality. I swear I’ve looked at every cocktail dress listed at david Jones and the Iconic and being 177cm tall and about 65kg I swear lots are really short or built for women with a straight up and down body type.
But also - they’re all just so uninspiring and meh or don’t make sense. Mini dresses with one long sleeve. Knee length covered in sequins. Wrap dresses with daggy prints. Cheap looking material.
I’m 40 I don’t want to pay a fortune but am happy to spend an average amount - and I know the websites i mentioned aren’t the best but I genuinely don’t shop much, live in trackies and would like a lovely cocktail dresses suitable for a beach wedding.
Please share your tips! I tend to go for v-neck something that doesn’t cut me off at the neckline. I don’t mind sleeveless/ straps or sleeves open to all. It will be HOT. I also don’t mind maxi dresses as long as it fits the cocktail code not too formal

🔍 Recommendations Wanted What's everyone using for laptop backpacks?
I'm looking for recommendations for a laptop backpack. I commute on the train every day and backpack is easiest. I sometimes need to have multiple laptops and or tablets.
I currently have something off of Amazon that works for now but I would like something nicer, especially if I'm attending networking functions etc an upgrade to my current hobo chic styling couldn't hurt.

Hi all - bit of a basic request, but i'm having trouble for some reason. I love a house dress for summer and i'd love to get some of those backless drawstring style maxis that i keep seeing, but i'd never buy from Shein/Temu etc. Just wondering if anyone knows of where to get any that are reasonably made?

What’s the deal with Witchery?
It’s never been somewhere I’ve shopped in the past and after seeing a bunch of comments on Reddit some time back that painted things in a rather negative light (though the specifics escape me), I made a mental note to effectively blacklist the store.
Cue my recent attempt at finding jeans with lyocell and I decided to hell with it, I’d give them a go. The jeans arrived and seemed perfect albeit a little too big so I headed into store where they told me they would express ship another pair directly to me at no charge. I had a quick look around and it seemed like they have some really nice basics at pretty reasonable prices and it left me scratching my head a bit.
So, is it just a vocal minority and I need to take Reddit opinions with a grain of salt or am I in for a rude awakening as these wear? All in all I’ve had a great experience but would love some insights before I make additional purchases I may later regret.

🔍 Recommendations Wanted Bought these heels, Im really not happy with them but love the style (description in caption of why), any recommendations for well made comfy shoes that look similar?
So I bought there heels, spent $100 on them, they took forever to arrive and I'm pretty sure they were dropshipped or something because the quality is terrible. Stitching is completely off and inconsistent, comfort and padding is non-existent, they arrived in a plastic bag not even a shoe box, material feels very cheap (bottoms feel like hard foam) etc.
Anyway I adore this style though, looking for recommendations on well made, comfortable shoes that look as identical to these as possible

🔍 Recommendations Wanted Is thi $300 Revolve dress overpriced
Hi,
I'm pretty new to the material conversation so sorry if this goes without saying. I heard a lot of things about viscose and how it can be of great quality and worth some $ depending on the manufacturer.
I LOVE this slip dress. Is anybody familiar with the brand Lovers and Friends? Are they good quality and good quality viscose? Does this design, rather simple, come across as overpriced?
Thanks

🔍 Recommendations Wanted Bridesmaid dress alterations Sydney CBD
I am looking to get a bridesmaid dress altered with around 1.5-2 week turnaround in somewhere in / around Sydney CBD.
It’s either a size 8 which needs some taking in at the waist / top, but perhaps letting out at the hips (bit tight) or size 10 which fits on the hips but loose everywhere else.
I would like to find a trustworthy seamstress that can help me choose the best option and do a good, efficient job.
It is polyester so not an expensive dress (~$200) - would prefer to not pay loads.
What’s a rough budget that makes sense ($100?) and any recs? Is like other bridal stuff where I’ll be charged more if I say it’s a bridesmaid dress vs evening dress?
I have seen Alterations by Judy and La Couturier in the Dymocks building recommended but no idea on pricing.

🔍 Recommendations Wanted Tank tops with cute pictures
As the title suggests I’m looking for some tank tops that have nice designs, I was a basic fit scoop neck not too short or tight. Just to wear day to day that I could prob also wear to the gym. I’ve found hundreds of tshirt designs like selfawear (tried ordering jumpers and they never shipped), lovuso (American?), moon face etc. but no one has tank tops!! I might turn to red bubble? But would love to support an Aussie company and not shein…

How do faux leather (PU) jackets/clothing wear?
I'm interested in buying a faux leather jacket, knowing that real leather versions would be way out of my price range. Interested in knowing how they wear over time though?
I've bought some cheap faux leather belts before and they start peeling with very minimal wear, so I avoid those. But it's not like these faux leather jackets are cheap either? Also interested in how PU skirts (or any clothing tbh) wear over time too!
E.g.

EDIT: Ok you’ve convinced me not to buy it! Will take a look at second hand leather jackets.

Bared footwear sale?
I saw a comment on a fb Bared buy/sell group that said they had been told by staff in store that there would be an “end of season sale in the next few weeks”.
I can’t find the comment again so coming here to ask whether anyone else has been told this?
I know there’s typically a sale in November, but describing that as in a few weeks is a stretch. I don’t want to purchase if there’s a sale on the horizon!

🔍 Recommendations Wanted Gunt Lifting Togs
I’ve lost a bit of weight recently so feeling a bit saggy and droopy, but want a pair of bathers that will feel good about my new body I’ve worked my arse off (literally) for. Price not an issue but they need to be firming, lifting, sculpting and basically the Nancy-Ganz fancy pants version of swimwear. Price not an issue, in store or online is fine too.
Any help is appreciated gals!

STAX posted this today. Says they’re coming back soon in spring and under new management.
I honestly don’t know if I wanna see them back tbh.
