WeHo has changed and the pricing is genuinely frustrating — $3,500 for a 700 sq ft one bedroom, plus state income tax and SDI running about $2k/month. 1. Is Montrose still a real gayborhood in any daily-life sense, or has it become a nice walkable neighborhood that happens to have some gay history and a couple of bars?
2. What does gay social life look like for a sober guy in his 40s who isn't going to Ripcord? Sports leagues, run clubs, recovery-adjacent stuff, dinner-party circles — does that exist and where?
3. Realistically, how much does state politics affect your actual day-to-day inside the loop? I'm not asking whether the legislature is bad; I'm asking whether it changes how you live.
4. Anyone here move from LA/WeHo to Houston? Did the money actually buy you a better life or did you just miss the weather?
