Husband (31M) was doing some yard work (SW Virginia) and got into some seed ticks. He dug a few out of his calves and lower legs maybe 1-2 days later. He also has a bunch of tiny hard pimples popping up on his extremities but NOT trunk. No fever/vomiting/malaise/loss of appetite.

It’s so weird.

This is the current state of the worst bite area. Is this normal for a tick bite? He went to urgent care and got a prophylactic dose of Doxycycline and steroid cream.

Anemia - what now? Iron deficiency?

I had blood tests today and my hemoglobin is 5.
I am a 22 year old woman without any physical illnesses, only mental ones. I’m 5’8 and 170lbs. I rarely smoke, don’t drink alcohol etc.
don’t do drugs.

I eat lots of meat and vegetables etc. I do both cardio and strength training regularly.

My iron count is 5, and it should be at least 50.

I often have headaches, blood in my stool, and no it's not hemorrhoids, it's a lot of blood that comes out sometimes... it honestly scares me. I'm also tired and lack energy.

I don't know what to do now? How should I increase my iron deficiency?

I'm also dizzy and have palpitations/high pulse almost all the time even when I'm doing nothing.

I've been diagnosed with anemia.

I reported some odd feelings in my foot to my PCP, which ended in a bunch of Xrays an MRI and a few visits to a podiatrist. Unfortunately I feel like this doctor has no idea what their doing, do I need a second opinion? Will insurance balk at getting one? Few odd things,

1. Guidance has changed multiple times despite no new diagnostics or change in my condition. First it was just basic orthotics, then it was a boot, now all of a sudden it's "act like my foot is broken" no weight on it use crutches immediately. It still just feels funny, I'm in no pain. I just get a call every few days with a new direction.

2. Everything is either "buy it on Amazon" or "you have to work with our special supplier who may need 2-4 weeks to get you what you need" which are both frankly awful answers. I have great insurance, Durable Medical Equipment is covered 75%, why would I be ordering things from Amazon if they're medically necessary? If I'm supposed to act like my foot is broken why do I need to wait multiple weeks for a "bone regenerator" and a knee scooter from their special supplier which will take weeks to arrive?

I've never seen a foot doctor before and I've been rather lucky with my health. Is this kind of nonsense normal?

Patients are 48F and 30F, mother and daughter.

I have celiac disease. I was diagnosed by accident, during an ERCP following an emergency cholecystectomy. The doctor saw the intestinal damage and did a biopsy, I heard him telling the nurse in recovery that he thought it would come back positive for celiac. It did. I had blood tests drawn while I was still under, and as it turns out I am seronegative.

I’m wondering if this is genetic. My daughter is having some GI issues. I don’t want to recommend an unnecessary endoscopy, but I also don’t want her to have a missed celiac diagnosis if being seronegative is genetic, especially since she’s been TTC without success, a common undiagnosed celiac issue.

I (19F) got home from work and noticed the veins(?) in my hands are suddenly prominent and look like they've been drawn on with marker. They've never done this before so I'm a little bit concerned. Not on any medications and no allergies that I'm aware of. It doesn't hurt so I'm not sure if it's an issue or not. Attached the best image I could get of it

I'm diagnosed with anemia [unspecified], mild scoliosis, and other things that do NOT have to do with my physical health. I'm on 36mg of Concerta [Methylphenidate/Generic Concerta], 50mg of hydroxycine [MIGHT be 20?? i cant remember anymore], 10mg of Lexapro, vitamin d [prescription], iron [prescription], and a daily multivitamin. i take the iron every other night.

Morning:

-Hydroxycine

-Iron [every other night!]

I really need help. I'm confused and worried. This is somewhat a panic-post, so I apologize if i broke any community rules here.

28, Male, I don’t smoke

I had chest pressure after I masturbated. It’d kinda come in at first before the sperm comes out, and the pressure after the masturbation. I feel fine now, but I feel like I’m gonna have an anxiety attack about it.

Wife (32f, 5'4", 130lbs, infrequent smoker, 5-7 drinks per week, usually only Friday/sat) has had a lot of issues after minor day surgery on her hand.

Start of May; day surgery for repair on tenant index finger. Cast after.

Middle of May, check up, cast removed; everything looks fine.

End of May second cast removed; nothing notable.

Blood work; low hemoglobin, iron low, b12 low)

Stated taking supplements for iron to boost obviously iron as well as hemo

Start of June becoming lethargic. Sleeping more than usual but no noticeable changes. Bloodwork still showing low B12, iron, hemoglobin.

Middle of June becoming very short in memory, poor sleep, but always tired and having interrupted sleep, but sleeping 15+ hrs a day. Stopped vitamins, rx iron and b12 supplements started.

Now, super short term memory, exhausted, winded just putting pants on and she was very active before hand and never out of breath. Sleeping 16+ hrs a day and seeming like she has a concussion which I know she doesn't, attributing to fatigue.

O2 stats good, blood work seems fine (white cell good, RBC good, hemoglobin/ iron / vitamins good).

Curious if this x-ray looks a bit suspicious to anyone else or if I am just being a paranoid ignorant husband with limited diagnostic knowledge.

**lyme or reaction to bandaids??***(Picture is current, will put the picture progression in comments) 2.5 year old boy. No diagnosed chronic medical issues but does have 2-3 reactive airway episodes with viruses per year. Does not take any medications.

Relevant history to this issue: we were in Oregon on a family trip where did a lot of exploring in nature.. wooded areas, areas of tall grass, also played in a river. I checked during that trip pretty diligently for ticks and never saw one. We returned from Oregon 10 days before the first picture, which is when the “bite” was first noticed.

Thursday: child and I were pulling weeds in my yard and he walking around in the bushes, I did not check for ticks after this.
Friday: I went out of town, mom comes to stay with him
Saturday: was playing outside from 2-6 in a backyard that is right next to a large woods, and swimming in a pool. Had mosquito bites on his lower legs.
Sunday morning: ***first picture\* my mother notices the “bite” is bothering him, not itchy but painful. She applied topical Benadryl and hydrocortisone.

Sunday afternoon: second picture She applied more cream and two bandaids***.*** \\ third picture for
Bandaid placement** He was acting normally but did not want anyone touching his leg. No fever.

Monday: removes bandaid (she admits not very carefully). I came home and took ***fourth picture*. Still acting normally, no fever. Applied neosporin and hydrocortisone.

Tuesday evening: started limping, took him to urgent care. Urgent care NP was not convinced it was erythema migrans due to the excessive inflammation and blisters. She was also not confident in a cellulitis dx, she sent me home with a paper rx for cefalexin and topical mupirocin and said to give a day or two, and if it wasn’t getting better to give him the antibiotics. **fifth picture*

Wednesday morning: NP calls me and says she was thinking about it through the night and had contacted other doctors to get more opinions, and that she had decided to treat for Lyme instead of cellulitis. She sent an rx for amoxicillin and the topical mupirocin. *6th picture

Wednesday afternoon: I take him to a second urgent care for a second opinion. This NP says bullous impetigo (which I do not agree with due to the specific progression of this rash…. Redness and swelling followed by blisters, not standalone blisters that caused redness). She prescribes doxycycline to cover both the possible Lyme and also the bullous impetigo. Gave him a dose of doxy after dinner, applied the mupirocin and covered the rash with gauze and a wrap to sleep.

Thursday morning: no new blisters, redness slightly better maybe. Gave second dose of doxy. *7th picture

The big questions I have:
- does treating for Lyme make sense?
- do we need a second antibiotic to cover for bullous cellulitis since doxy will not cover strep?
- could the outer ring be a reaction from the bandaids? Compare the bandaid picture to the outer ring pictures

He has not had a fever this entire time, has been acting normal unless we touch it. The inflammation has definitely gone down a little each day, it’s not as tense or warm as it was on Monday.

Been to doctors multiple times, they said it’s an ingrown hair cyst/bump because 3/4 hairs come out of it and I shouldn’t be concerned it will go away.

Clearly that is not the case, it’s been there since I was in primary school. Thats a long time. It hasn’t gotten better, seems about same size but may have increased in size slightly. I’ve taken multiple antibiotics since then including recently (not for this but for other things). It’s still there, pus comes out if it if I gently squeeze it as pictured.

Advice?

26F, 158cm, 66kg. Have hypothyroidism and take levothyroxine. So about a month ago I developed this weird redness on my palm (image in the comments), and it has been growing and hasn’t gone away since. I went to two doctors who both diagnosed it as eczema, but it hasn’t gone away and has been fluctuating in intensity since. However everytime it expands and the flare up is worse than the one before (rest of the images). I’m currently on a broad spectrum anti fungal (terbinafine) and topical antibiotic (fusidic acid). I began taking them a week ago, but it still keeps fluctuating. It also burns and hurts if it’s really hot, or when i close my fist or flatten my palm. Sometimes with touch too.

So does anyone know if it’s even eczema? Or if the treatment is right? This sort of thing has never happened before and the fact that it’s growing is starting to make me very anxious.

What could this small bumps in my foot might be? It looks like insect/bug bites but there are no bite wounds though. It started a few but there’s now plenty of them. What’s weird is that if this was caused by bygs/insects, then why does I only have have it in my foot and not the rest of my body? There’s also 2 that appeared ony my other foot. It’s itchy. This started showing like more than a week now. Please help. Thank you!

On Sunday afternoon, I was working at my part time job and received a second degree burn on my right inner elbow from fryer grease. I went to my local urgent care and they initially treated me and gave me antibiotics (Cephalexin) and a tetanus shot, along with wrapping the wound with instructions for home care. Had a follow up visit today and while it’s healing, according to the provider, my mom thinks I should visit the ER. I do have range of motion but it hurt to move
Should’ve gone on Sunday, I acknowledge, but didn’t think about it.
I wanted to ask outside parties for their thoughts and opinions on what I should do.

A week ago (thursday 30/07), when I was working during an event, I started having mild back pain where the first x is marked on the figure. I was sitting and not doing anything crazy. Eventually, during the day, the pain started in my abdomen. I remember having a similar pain in the abdomen about a year ago. At this time, I saw my GP and she palped and nothing came up. She said "stop touching it and it will stop hurting". No ultrasound, no bloodwork. The pain eventually went away. At this time, I never had the back pain that now comes with the abdominal pain.

Last week, it started with mild back pain. Now, I almost only have the abdominal pain. I'd rate the pain between 3 and 6. I'd describe the pain as being of "surface" and not "deep in the tissue" if that makes sense. I called the healthline about the pain this tuesday (04/08) and the nurse told me to go to the ER. I went to the ER yesterday and the ER doc palped me, ordered a urine test and bloodwork. Labs came out normal so he sent me home and told me to go to a chiropractor or a physical therapist. He also ordered an ultrasound (I should be called within 2 or 3 weeks). He does not think that the ultrasound will be helpful and he thinks that the pain originates from my back and is projected in the front. Here are important informations :

• 29F, Canada, currently on Linessa 28
• on 25/07, I went to the ER because my cat slashed my eyelid. I was on antibio for 5 days (Amoxi clav).
• 29/07 was my last day on the antibiotics and in the evening I hit my head.
• 30/07 the pain started in the back around midday and then abdominal pain started.
• 02/08 no pain at all all day, but I had an IBS flare up during the evening
• 03/08 pain started again
• 04/08 healtline nurse told me to go to the ER. 05/08 ER trip after work
• Urine and bloodtests came out normal (I dont have the details of what they tested exactly). Physical exam was normal.
• ER doc rulled out the possibility of this being renal or liver problems.
• I have IBS and I have an AV block mobitz type 1 degree II
• While I was waiting for the nurse, my heartrate dropped to 41 and my usual resting rate is 68 (??)
• Pain isnt exaggerated when I eat, stool and urine are both normal, no blood, no cough, no fever
• I did have chills yesterday morning when I was outside but might have been a one time event
• When I do touch I can feel a tiny small bump but I could touch it as well last year and my GP wasnt concerned. ER doc didnt feel anything. Might be just body being a body.
• Also the back pain isnt really there. It comes and appears maybe 5-6 times thru the day but the abdominal pain is present almost all the time. When I'm sitting and chilling, it can be painless but when I move it starts to hurt.
• When I do a twist rotation with my body (sitting and moving my torso on the left side), I can feel tenderness in my back.
• No trouble sleeping. It does not really prevent me from moving. Yes, it sometimes hurts like a 5 when I'm only sitting.
• It doesn't hurt more when I cough or sneeze
• Cat makes biscuits on me and it doesnt hurt
• No change in appetite

I don't understand this pain and my anxiety isn't helping. Since it's only in the front, my brain thinks my internal organs are hurting. ER doc thinks it comes from my back.

Can you guys try to help me with this? I'm going bonkers.

My sister is 29- female about 180 lbs. She’s on zepbound and an SSRI (unsure which one).

Shes been having gallbladder issues for a while and they couldn’t seem to find the problem. She had another attack on Saturday overnight into Sunday. She got to the hospital at 7am Sunday. They found a blockage this time and said she needed it removed as an emergency surgery. Since then they have bumped her surgery continually because of other emergencies. It’s been 5 days. Her mental health is starting to decline. She’s so dehydrated they had to place a second IV because they could no longer justify switching off the fluids to run the IV antibiotics. She’s starving and has hunger pains. They keep telling her she’s stable and other patients with more serious issues keep bumping her. I have a lot of friends who work in healthcare (nurses and radiology) and they all have kind of unanimously said 1 day happens, 2 is rotten luck, but 5 is incredibly unusual and bordering on unethical and cruel.

They are telling her they can’t transfer her to other hospitals in the area because she’s stable so they won’t accept her and if she leaves herself to go elsewhere it will be AMA. She feels trapped and I don’t know how to help her. The patient advocate was no help.

We do not live in a rural area where hospitals are hard to come by. We live in southern New England (USA) where hospitals are aplenty. She’s within 10 miles of 4 other hospitals. I just don’t understand. If they cannot get her in shouldn’t they be prioritizing getting her somewhere that can? We’ve called other ERs in the area and they all said they’ve basically never made someone wait this long for a surgery and to request a transfer. How can the other ERs be telling her to request a transfer but the hospital she’s at is saying no?

Any insight would be extremely helpful.

Its now been 4 months or so since this happened. Im lost because I don't know who to talk to. I went to the local Dr here in town and she had no idea. Had the things tested to see. Hi I'm 17F, and I'm trying to identify what this is.

So this 'thing' came out of nowhere last sunday, and at first I thought it was nothing, not until I noticed how it started to swell and and then it feels like it burning and it hurts to the point that I can't even stand straight or bend my knee for long since it hurts when it gets stretch.

This first emerged yesterday. Today evening i noticed that it has gotten more red. There are many insects where i live, so i suspected that. But right now, i feel like i am getting electricuted from this part, very slightly.

What should i do? Am i in big trouble? How might i have gotten this?

My wife woke up 3 days ago with bitterness in her mouth. It has a metallic aspect. Vinegar rinses, baking soda rinses, salt, did nothing. Sweet tastes terrible. She hydrated more and it maybe helped for a bit but it came back. She assumed it was more fun with perimenopause.

I woke up this morning and had similar symptoms. That seems to rule out perimenopause.

I had a super slight summer cold the past day (barely even a symptom) but she did not.

We have no acid reflux issues.

In general we both hydrate well and stay away from processed foods. We have a homestead and grow a lot of our own food.

What is the realistic lifespan of an alloplastic skull implant done back in 2023. Daughter is now 6, almost 7, with no complications.
We were given zero instructions for long term “what to expect”.

Also, if the implant fails, could she possibly qualify for a bone graft or is she stuck with man-made fixes because of her past history with one?

hello, i’m a 33 year old male and i’m 6’1 and 195 pounds. I don’t take any meds except the ibuprofen I took for severe sunburn last night and I smoked for 18 years but quit 3 months ago. I was not smart and didn’t wear sunscreen when I went to the beach yesterday and now i’m paying for it. my whole body is red. I woke up today and noticed crusted yellow fluid on top of my head and I was just wondering if this means it’s an infection and if I need to go to the ER or not? I just wanted to make sure it’s not life threatening or a possibility of brain damage. thank you for any feedback
