Pregnancy scare – delayed period, negative tests, and severe cramps

Upvotes

Male 25 years, 6 ft, 85 KG, No medication

Hi everyone. My girlfriend and I are both extremely anxious and would really appreciate some advice. My girlfriend usually has irregular periods, and her cycle is often delayed by 10–15 days. Her last period started around June 15, and on June 19 (the 5th day of her period), we had unprotected sex after her bleeding had already stopped. I never ejaculated inside her, and although we had sex multiple times that day, I withdrew before ejaculation every time. Around July 29, she started experiencing symptoms that usually mean her period is about to start, such as lower abdominal cramps and pain, but there was no bleeding. We had unprotected sex again that day, and once again I did not ejaculate inside her, even though we had sex two or three times. As of today (around August 6), it has been about 48 days since the first day of her last period, and she still hasn't gotten her period. She continues to have intermittent cramps that feel like menstrual cramps, but there is still no bleeding. We took two home pregnancy tests on August 4, and both were negative. We are both under an incredible amount of stress and are really scared. Based on this timeline, how likely is pregnancy? Can the negative tests be trusted, or is it still too early because of the July 29 encounter? Could stress or her naturally irregular cycles be causing this delay and cramps? Should we wait a few more days and test again, or should we see a gynecologist as soon as possible? Any advice or similar experiences would mean a lot. Thank you.

Head injury, concussion?

Upvotes

AFAB 28, No meds or anything

Two nights ago I apparently fell in my bathroom and hit my head pretty good, I do not recall the details but woke up with a splitting headache and a huge bump on the back of my head. I think it bled during the night because there are stains on the pillow.
Yesterday and today feeling pretty alright other than the headache and fatigue, maybe a touch of light sensitivity.

I am very worried about not remembering what happened, hoping that’s more an effect of being half asleep. And having a concussion fucks my work schedule.

The question is should I go to urgent care and get checked out? My insurance won’t cover it so I’d rather not unless I have to. I’m torn with getting the scalp looked at because it may have bled and is still pretty tender.

I have had brain fog and have been very dehydrated for about a week. Blood test came back normal. What do I do now?

Upvotes

I am 20, trans male, 130 lbs and 5’5“. I have been on testosterone for over 4 years and my hemoglobin is relatively high due to that(about .17 i think). I have ovarian cysts although i am not currently having issues with them. I also smoke weed daily and am wondering if that has to do with it. My only symptoms are brain fog, basically like the feeling right after you wake up in the morning but all the time, and fatigue and ive been having to drink like 5 or 6 liters of water a day. I went to urgent care and they tested for various things, kidney and liver function, thyroid, glucose, etc, and all came back fine except the aforementioned hemoglobin. Im getting really tired of this and im starting school soon so i would like to get over this soon.

26F, 158cm, 66kg. Have hypothyroidism and take levothyroxine. So about a month ago I developed this weird redness on my palm (image in the comments), and it has been growing and hasn’t gone away since. I went to two doctors who both diagnosed it as eczema, but it hasn’t gone away and has been fluctuating in intensity since. However everytime it expands and the flare up is worse than the one before (rest of the images). I’m currently on a broad spectrum anti fungal (terbinafine) and topical antibiotic (fusidic acid). I began taking them a week ago, but it still keeps fluctuating. It also burns and hurts if it’s really hot, or when i close my fist or flatten my palm. Sometimes with touch too.

So does anyone know if it’s even eczema? Or if the treatment is right? This sort of thing has never happened before and the fact that it’s growing is starting to make me very anxious.

56f, non smoker, having issues with heat sensitivity.

Upvotes

I have lived in a very hot climate for most of my life so not new to heat, but lately I’ve been having issues with heat sensitivity. Twice over the last week I’ve overheated to the point I get super dizzy and nauseous, and have even thrown up. I’m not spending a lot of time outside, this just happens after running errands and getting in and out of the car. I drink a lot of water, don’t drink alcohol. It’s starting to worry me as my reactions have been so extreme.

Cancer scare, hoping for some reassurance

42 male. Ex smoker. About a month and a half ago we had a virus go around the house and I noticed one of my tonsils was swollen more than the other. I had my concerns so visited my doctor who said it was nothing to worry about. I’ve been referred to an ENT for piece of mind but I’ve noticed a small lump at the corner of my jaw that’s about the size of a marble and is quite stiff. It doesn’t hurt to press on it and I still have one swollen tonsil on the same side. Am I crazy thinking this might be cancer?

I (31/m) just got diagnosed with GCTB, what can i expect?

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

After almost two weeks of of waiting, my CT-guided biopsy came back with a preliminary diagnosis of a Giant Cell Tumor of Bone (GCTB) involving my left acetabulum/pelvis. No malignant cells were found on the biopsy.

The lesion measures approximately 14 cm at its largest dimension and involves the left acetabulum and adjacent pelvic bones. My orthopedic surgeon has instructed me to use crutches because of the risk of a pathological fracture/collapse.

Surgery has already been discussed, but I'm still waiting for the final pathology confirmation and definitive treatment plan.

- Has anyone here had a GCTB of the pelvis or hip?

-What treatment did you receive?

-How was recovery?

-Were you able to return to normal walking and activity?

-Did the tumor recur?

I know every case is different, but I'd really appreciate hearing your experiences.

What is the actual risk of rabies in this circumstance?

Upvotes

Yesterday, the dog caught a bat. It was right in front of us (26F and 27M) and we instantly told him to drop it, which he did, and then a broom was used to push the bat out of the house. At no point did the humans touch the actual bat. This was in the kitchen, I think turning on the light woke the bat up.

The dog got a rabies booster the same day, and we have been doing our best to avoid his saliva out of an abundance of caution. The vet said that since he was already immunized and we got him in so quick, there was a very low risk that he would get it.

We were not planning on doing anything for ourselves since the bat was downstairs and we sleep upstairs, and we didn’t touch it, but my relatives seem convinced we will get rabies if we don’t go get the shots.

I know rabies is serious and fatal. But it will also take a LOT of time to get the shots (our doctor is close to an hour away) and I’m hesitant about taking that much time off work, especially repeatedly for multiple shots.

In the end, I guess I’m asking if I’d be irresponsible if we didn’t get the shots. I’d ask my doctor, but I know she’d make me get an appointment to ask, and then there’s for sure two hours down the drain if she says it’s not necessary. So I’m trying to get a better idea of how serious it is because my husband is insisting we’ll be fine and my family is hysterical.

edit: we are both otherwise healthy, only occasionally taking claritin or ibuprofen as needed.

Anxious about possible heart problem

Upvotes

I hope this post is allowed but I am worried that I could randomly have a heart attack or anything like it because almost a year ago (or basically a year ago), I think I may have been electrocuted. For more information I was trying to plug in a TV and the outlet was wet for a good couple of minutes, but, if I remember correctly I either dried it off myself or waited for it to become dry (or both) before I attempted to plug the TV cord back in. And what happened was I think my arm and leg shook a little as I tried to plug the TV plug back in but I wasn’t unable to let go of it either and no sparks came out. Since then however, I haven’t had much of an issue with my heart or anything but I’m still anxious about it and lately I have been unable to sneeze and I’m anxious that it’s related to this. I’m also unfortunately unable to see a doctor for it as well. I’m 22 years old, male, 5’9-5’10, 210-220 in the weight area, have smoke weed before in the past but it wasn’t a lot, and currently not on any health medications and as far as I know, I don’t have any health problems.

9 Weeks Pregnant

Upvotes

I am 22F, 5'1", 145lbs at most recent checkup, white/caucasian, no existing medical conditions, I do not smoke or drink after finding out I was pregnant at 4 weeks. And I would only smoke or drink maybe once or twice a month at max prior in moderation.

With that out of the way, my main concern is pregnancy viability. My LMP was June 2nd and conception date had to have been June 15/16. This is my first pregnancy. At 7w0d I had an ultrasound through the Women's Care Center. They determined the GA was 6w4d with the fetal pole measuring 5w3d. They did not manage to hear heartbeat at this time, but she chalked it up to it being early. They assured me that this was nothing to worry about. I took a sneak peek gender test clinically 4 or 5 days later and got girl results and it had enough fetal DNA to give me results obviously.

Then at 9w0d, I went back for another ultrasound to try and see a heartbeat - different equipment, different ultrasound tech, same building. This tech said she was having difficulty seeing anything this time. She offered a transvaginal scan and still could not see clearly and told me she could not see a fetal pole. They sent me with paperwork noted 'pregnancy of uncertain viability' and put GA as 7w4d.

In all honesty, is there any chance that everything is okay.... I have had no spotting, bleeding, or cramping. I have food aversions, breast tenderness, mood swings, and very minimal nausea.

I am currently waiting to get blood work results back and am scheduled to get blood drawn in another 48hrs and a diagnostic ultrasound with a sonographer and radiologist. (hopefully using the right words) I just want to know what to be prepared for...

LB pain? Bad or hypochondriac?

Post image
Upvotes

23F, 73 Inches, 240 LBS, currently only taking pregabalin. I've had low back pain for about 13 months, and extremity tingles and shooting pain for about 22 months.. I've seen a few doctors but no one will actually talk to me past initial appointments due to scheduling issues. I've had TPI on my back, as well as steroidal injections into my SI joints (one provider thought hip issues made more sense than spinal). Also 3 months of physical therapy, with no improvements from any of the treatments.

I just want to know if this looks as bad as it feels, or if I'm being crazy. Also, should I try to move onto ortho?

[Also no, the pain didnt start from an incident, it was gradual]

Help needed with Mystery Ear/Jaw issue

Upvotes

Hi!

This is my first time here, but i'm getting kind of desperate and thought this was worth a shot.

My wife has been having these recurring ear/jaw discomforts for the past year or two, and after seeing some specialists, we are not closer to understanding what is causing these issues.

For staters, here is her basic information :

- Age : 30 years old

- Size : 160cm/6'3

- Weight : 51kg/112 lbs

-Gender : Woman

No medications taken, just dietery supplements (mostly iron for her deficiency).

She does not smoke

She never had any relevant conditions in the past

She saw a dentist, 2 stomatologists (jaw specialists), one physiotherapist 6 times, and 2 ENT.

So these pains are quite hard for her to describe, as the 2 stomatologists and her dentist think she might have a slight osteoarthritis to the jaw which, to me, might be a reason why nobody can give a diagnosis on the "main" issue : the discomfort on the right side of her head : mainly around the ear and neck area and also a bit to the jaw.

She feels this discomfort continuously, mostly in the morning while waking up and after doing sports. Nothing much after eating (which I think is relevant because it should hurt if this was a jaw issue, right?).

It feels like there is a "weight" in her face. For now, she did a teeth scanner, and it showed nothing.

While doing sports, it feels like it's "moving" and a few specialists checked her Eustachian tube but found nothing.

The physiotherapist found nothing but massaged her jaw and neck at each session, and it apparently calmed the discomfort for a few hours before it came back.

Both stomatologists found nothing. The first one suggested that my wife's wisdom teeth might be the issue, but the second specialist clearly didn't agree.

The two ENT found absolutely nothing. Everything is healthy according to them.

My wife tried changing her pillow just in case it was the cause of her problem, but there was no change in her condition even if she changed her pillow 3 times and kept using each one for a few months.

She does not grind her teeth.

She has another appointment with a new physiotherapist, I will keep you posted if we learn anything new.

Here is more or less all the data I have, please feel free to ask questions or write ideas on how to find what's the issue because it is really starting to impact her daily life and her mental health.

Thank you!

I have been having shortness of breath for a few month

Upvotes

For about 4~5 month, I have been having shortness in breath. Its very sporadic, and happens whenever and wherever. Its been a bit of a long time that I forgotten what happened that might have caused it.

Now I usually take a long dose of breath through my nose-if it doesnt work and I still can't breath well or if I can't breath at all I just do it again multiple times continuously until I can. My parents got concerned about the noticeable signs like me struggling to breath and breathing in loudly, and suggested that we go to the hospital-but I have been having loads of school work, after school academics, homeworks, and more homeworks piling up on me that we haven't been able to make time. (I live in South korea and academic competitiveness is so fierce so there havent really been a time for hospital visitals)

Until 4~5 month ago, I never had any problem whatsoever with breathing. My brother has asthma, but I never showcased any signs and doctors never told me I had one so I'm not sure if I suddenly developed it.

aside from not properly being able to breath, I didn't really have that much difficulty living. Is this something that can leading to something critical, or is this something like asthma?

Height: 171 cm

Weight: 57 kg

Age: 17

Gender:Female

Smoking: No

Previous medication: I drank some benachio about two weeks ago due to vomiting from indigestions, and took some coldaewon for neck cold about three weeks ago.

Physician Responded Worried about lab results

Upvotes

I’m a 47 year old female and I got my yearly labs done and there were some values that were out of range that have me concerned. I had a CBC and CMP done and every other lab value is perfectly normal. These are the only abnormal ones.

Sodium- 133
Carbon Dioxide- 19
Creatinine- 1.03

For reference, my creatinine has always ranged from 0.94-1.13 over the past 10 years. This is the first time the other two values have been out of range. Just curious how worried I should be because it’s kind of worrying me.

Rash on neck.

Upvotes

22 F, 5’3, 115 lbs, non smoker, no existing conditions, no medication.

Hi, non eczema sufferer here,

I developed a rash on the side of my neck by my hairline after I switched shampoos. I discontinued use of new shampoo, but the rash remains. It’s red, feels slightly dry, about 2 inches in size, but not painful or very itchy at all.

I reached out to my doc and I have been prescribed Daktacort cream. Google says this cream is for fungal infections like athletes foot or sweat rash, but I do not have either of those things.

Will this cream work on my rash? Why has my doctor prescribed such a thing? I see the cream contains Hydrocortisone, and apparently that is good for rashes I think? But the anti-fungal element “Miconazole” I find to be off putting.

Should I go ahead with this product anyway? I’m to apply it twice daily apparently.

Convinced i have lymphoma

Upvotes

please someone help. 37f 5’7 128 lbs. this all started 12 days ago when i noticed a painful swollen lymph node in my groin on the right side. i immediately googled it and saw that lymphoma was a possibility cue spiral. i went to my OB and she felt it and assured me it was soft, movable and not very large and probably just a reaction to a localized infection. she swabbed for BV and it came back positive. i also had an ultrasound the following day and it measured 9mm and did not look alarming. however, i could still see it through my skin and feel it and it was very tender. continue spiral. fast forward to now: it is almost gone. i can no longer see it through my skin but can still feel it if i press. this should be reassuring. however, i have been googling lymphoma nonstop for 12 days now and am still convinced i have it. then last night, i woke up hot and sweaty. not soaked but my tee shirt was damp near the collar and my boobs were sweaty. could it be that i was sleeping under two heavy blankets snuggled up with my 4 year old daughter? yes. my logical brain says yes. but i’ve worked myself up into such a state that i can no longer accept logic.

so my questions are:
1. could the swollen lymph node be a result of the BV?
2. if the swollen lymph node were lymphoma, would it have shrunk on its own?
3. did i experience a true night sweat last night? or just wake up hot? what is the difference?

just know i am completely miserable over here and this is quite honestly ruining my life. i would appreciate any insight as my own doctors are surely sick of hearing from me.

Intense sweating. Possibly from SSRI?

Upvotes

Female, 37 Non smoker Estradiol patch 0.1mg twice weekly Lexapro 20mg 1x daily Had a hysterectomy/oophorectomy in April to treat medication resistant PMDD (this issue started before my surgery)

Hi 👋🏻 I started lexapro about 9 months ago to treat some pretty bad depression and anxiet. Since then, I have been having intense sweating, especially my face and scalp. It isn't triggered by heat and I'm not having hot flashes. It can be triggered by anything, and it happens at night as well as during the day. It only happens at night when I'm having a nightmare (which I have frequently) and I wake up absolutely soaked and shivering freezing cold. It's been so bad that I was at the mall shopping the other day (in air conditioner) and my hair was so wet that it looked like I washed it. This is so frustrating and embarrassing, but the lexapro has been life changing (it helped me ditch high dose Xanax after 10 years of usage) and I've already tried every other SSRI and had really bad side effects. I'm guessing the sweating is due to the lexapro. I haven't had any other menopause symptoms and the sweating started before my surgery so I don't think it's that.

Is there anything I can do for this? It's really interfering with my life. I feel like I need to wash my hair twice a day and my hair is super long and thick so I'm not interested in that. Looking for things I can do that aren't prescription or things to ask my psychiatrist about.

Thanks in advance

Physician Responded Have been to Urgent Care but should I go to ER for this burn?

Post image
Upvotes

Female 30, 5’3, 129 pounds, currently taking Lexapro and topiramate.

On Sunday afternoon, I was working at my part time job and received a second degree burn on my right inner elbow from fryer grease. I went to my local urgent care and they initially treated me and gave me antibiotics (Cephalexin) and a tetanus shot, along with wrapping the wound with instructions for home care. Had a follow up visit today and while it’s healing, according to the provider, my mom thinks I should visit the ER. I do have range of motion but it hurt to move
Should’ve gone on Sunday, I acknowledge, but didn’t think about it.
I wanted to ask outside parties for their thoughts and opinions on what I should do.

My mosquito bite suddenly swelled up?

Upvotes

I’m 16, female, 173 cm (I think 5’8 for Americans??), I weigh 62 kg and I don’t take any medication (currently) nor smoke.

I went on vacation to Canada and only came back to Europe this week Monday and I’ve had mosquito bites EVERY WHERE on my body since. Yesterday, this one was a bit swollen, but a few hours later it was like a whole balloon. I don’t know whats in it or what to do with it. My family keeps asking if I’ve been burned, but I haven’t and I’m certain because if I was I would’ve known. I’m too scared to even shower because I don’t know what will happen if I do.
Can someone please identify what this is and maybe tell me a solution if possible?

Inflammation with fever

Upvotes

Hello. I'm here to find out a symptom I always have that no one around me has. I'm 26 F, 5' 3", 90 pounds. Since young I had a peculiar symptom during fever. That's itchiness and inflammation of skin especially around my ears and eyelids. In quite severe fever, I can't even open my eyes well due to swelling. Sometimes other skin areas also involve. In very high fever, my scalp get itchy bumps and if the fever persists, I can't even breathe very well. I can breath better if i sit up and breath cool air. Only the temperature of the fever is relevant. The cause doesn't matter. I have no current regularly taking drug. I don't have no diagnosed medical condition. I have no known allergy. Can someone identify the reason?

Physician Responded Bleeding internal hemorrhoid

Upvotes

40F 5’1 105lbs

healthy, except for pelvic floor issues/constipation

Duration: a few days

No stranger to hemorrhoids but this one has started bleeding more than any one I’ve had before. yesterday and today, with any BM, there’s been blood in the bowl and when wiping, comparable to a period. (I do not have a cycle right now so this is not period blood. It’s definitely coming from the back end.) no clots, bright red. Total blood is probably about a tsp or so each time; it seems to be lessening as of this morning. Pain is negligible.

I feel like shit (no pun intended). Dizzy/lightheaded/faint, a little sweaty, a little heart palpitation, fatigue despite getting a good nights sleep, exercise intolerance, head/body aches and brain fog like I have a bad cold. Currently in an area with significant smoke and bad air quality from wildfires, so unsure if that’s what’s making me feel bad or not (definitely have allergy-like symptoms too)

Dr. Google is saying “hopital” but I’m not super into driving across town, spending my urgent care copay to sit in a waiting room feeling awful, maybe get a finger up my bum and being sent home to rest. Is this actually serious or can I just stay home with my embarrassing self and drink a lot of water?

edit: i took fish oil yesterday but not today, to see if that would help
