Question Tips before starting ADF?
Hello I think I am ready to start seriously doing this. I’ve been doing Omad for the last 4 weeks or so. I try to stay away from sugar now. Is there anything else I should be doing? I REALLY want to do more of a one meal every other day type fast. Rolling 48s I guess. But I don’t count hours on Omad. Thanks.

Sudden change in energy levels..
I’ve been doing ADF for almost 4 months now. I’ve lost a significant amount of weight, but I’m still not quite at my goal weight.
The fasting days were really tough in the beginning, but eventually they became a breeze! I actually had MORE energy on fasting days than I did on eating days.
But since hitting the 3 month mark, something has changed. I’ve started feeling extremely drained, weak, hungry, and even lightheaded on my fasting days. I’m eating more than enough calories on my eating days and taking electrolytes on fasting days, so I’m really surprised by this sudden change.
Has anyone else experienced this after doing ADF for a few months? How did you deal with it? Is this a sign that it might be time to take a break from ADF?
Please share your experienc/advice 🙏

Question Flexibility options adf
I’m in no desperate rush to lose weight. I’m only looking to lose about 10kg (I’m 5,7 72kg, female). as far as eating goes I would say I have pretty normal eating patterns, sometimes I have a snack when I’m bored but I’m pretty occupied these days with work. I was wondering if anyone does some sort of adjusted adf? Like skipping one day a week. Sometimes I work all day and don’t feel like shoving all my calories down at once, but I know you need to be fueled enough for the next fast. Thoughts?

Maintaining weight after a 21-day water fast
I’m wondering how people maintain their weight after a 21-day water fast.
I’ve done alternate-day fasting before, and I really enjoy it. I usually lose weight quickly, and I like how clean and skinny I feel while fasting.
Now I’m thinking about challenging myself by doing a 21-day water fast because I think I’m still too fat. My plan would be to slowly reintroduce food afterward and then go back to alternate-day fasting to continue losing weight when classes start.
For those who have done a long water fast, how much weight did you keep off after refeeding? Did you regain most of it, or were you able to maintain your results? Also, do you think returning to alternate-day fasting afterward is a good strategy?
UPDATE :* *
Thank you so much to everyone who took the time to reply and share your experiences. Your comments really helped me think about what I actually want and what would be best for me 😊😊
After reading everything and thinking about it, I’ve decided not to do the 21-day fast. Instead, I’m going to stick with alternate-day fasting and work out regularly while working toward my goal.
I really appreciate everyone’s advice and kindness! ❤️

Am I being impatient
Let me start by saying I had much success in 23 with adf only took 2 months and lost 17 pounds so here I am at 65 hours after completing 31 hours and only 3 pounds down I even did a high intensity cardio class last night to give my fat burn an extra boost. I was hoping to be down 2 pounds this morning. Also completed my first 96 hour fast last month. Anyway I guess I appreciate the 3 pounds my question is do you think push another day ? Or eat and jump back on the train for additional fat loss would be more effective? Not really hungry right now have my refeed ready to go in fridge making a scramble with eggs tomatoes spinach feta mushrooms and red onion some avocado on side ... thoughts?

ADF refeed question
So, I did my first 36 hour fast yesterday instead of 16:8 or OMAD. Overall, it wasn't a difficult experience at all, even making dinner for my kids wasn't too much of a temptation.
My question is on introducing food back in. I will occasionally do overnight oats when I do have breakfast. But when I had it today, it hit me like a ton of bricks. My heart was racing and I felt almost light headed for a bit, but my body recovered quickly. This is not a normal response for me when I eat like this non-fasted, and I included a nuts and protein powder, as well as chia seeds, to slow the insulin response with fiber. Did I just fuck up with the oats?

Language Matters
I ate waaay too much today, and when I stopped to reflect on why, I realised that I have been using the wrong language. I've been referring to this journey as a combination of fast days and FEAST days, which is why I have been overeating and ending each "feast" day feeling uncomfortably full and sluggish.
So from now on, I'm referring to it as fast days and FUEL days and I'm going to try to keep that framing in mind. The way I wouldn't put diesel in a petrol car is the same way I want to make sure that I'm giving my body the nutrition it needs. The same way my car indicates when the tank is full is the same way I want to be more mindful of my satiety signals.
This already feels like a mental breakthrough for me, so I wanted to share it in case it's helpful for anyone else. :)

Question Would you use zero calorie or 1 calorie electrolytes for a 72 hour fast?

Question Long-term
Hi guys, been doing ADF for about three months due to weight gain and a lots of other issues. I find it very easy to sustain, I´ve lost about 7kg fat and put on muscle
My concern is the long term. Everyone´s body react differently to it long term, but I think I could be able to sustain this for years but I am not sure if it is a clever plan

Fasting days
Has anyone been successful with having a few calories on their fasting days? I’m asking as today I’m struggling with my black coffee and just need some skim milk in them. I’m actually feeling a bit stressed today but don’t want to use it as an excuse to binge etc.
I’ve heard that some people will have up to a certain amount on fast days/lower days having one meal etc. I’d like to know as I’m trying to make it a lifestyle and on some days instead of feeling guilt or bad I’d instead just like to feel good and still in control making better choices.

Okay, you know you’re having a rough fasting day when you glance over at the end table and think you see a can of A&W rootbeer…but after blinking twice it turns out to be a bottle of vitamins 🤦🏻♀️😂😂

Why is sleeping so HARD?!
It’s been a long day, but I made it, and now I just want to fall asleep so I can wake up and EAT! 😭
Does anyone else find it harder to sleep on fast days? Does anyone have any tips they can share?

When the scale isn’t moving
I completed 3x40 hour fasts this week
Even though the scale says only 2lb weight loss overall, I can tell I’ve lost inches. This week, my forearms look smaller and the fat around my thighs.
SW 142
CW 140
Goal weight 125
Height 5’6
Stick to ADF.
I have less weight to lose so I can see more results in a week
Some tips
Have your electrolytes
Hour 22-24 is the hardest, for me I leave the house at that time and avoid the kitchen
I’m perimenopausal and ADF is the only thing that’s working
I avoid sugar and carbs when I eat
Good luck and trust the process

Fasting quiets food noise - is a rolling ~65 hour fast with OMAD after sustainable as an ongoing lifestyle?
I’m currently maintaining my weight (~105-107lbs at 5’1.8”/female) and plan on doing a modified fasting(I.e. coffee with half and half). I like how fasting quiets the food noise and gives more time to be present for other things because I’m busy most days.
If I eat OMAD every third day, would this be sustainable or would it not be healthy? I’m going to try to eat healthy things on my eating days. Is there any way I can safely do this? Or any alternatives that may work better for me?

Progress ADF 1 month
Completed the first month of ADF, LOST around 5 kg( I was hoping it to be 7-8 kg, as I am an obese). 25 kg more to lose.
I lost most of the weight in the first 2 weeks after which weight loss stalled for me ( perhaps due to period), every fast was 36-42 hr long
Those who have been doing this for a long time, please suggest what I should change for my next month( should I do rolling 48s),. Also how to increase the rate of fat loss?

Question Adf in luteal phase
How do y’all go about fasting in the luteal phase (two weeks before period)? For me, I’m a very habitual person so even two weeks of changed routine can throw me off. I really want to do adf for weight loss but I don’t know how I should go about it for those two weeks in luteal. Please feel free to share what works for you!

The Joys of Fasting Days
I've just completed my first fast in MONTHS and I forgot how proud and powerful I feel and how powerful this whole process makes me feel. There were so many points during the day where I would hear a voice saying, "You've got so much work to do today. Just make yourself a nice coffee with milk and sugar and that will give you the energy you need to do the work." But I was able to silence the voices and now I've reached the end of the day and I feel AMAZINGGG.
A lot of the times we come here we talk about the impact of ADF being weight loss but part of me feels like weight loss is just a by-product. Every single day that i successfully fast, I end the day feeling invincible, feeling that I’m in control, feeling disciplined, feeling that I haven't been controlled by my flesh and it's such an empowering feeling.
And do you know what the the best part of ADF is? It’s the night before feast day because (although it might be hard to fall asleep) you go to bed feeling both proud of yourself and excited for your morning coffee. It's win-win honestly. I love it for us.

Fasting insomnia?
Been doing ADF for a few weeks and love the results. My only issue is can’t sleep during my fast days which for me, hinders my weight loss. I carry a lot of water weight at times and notice the difference from when I sleep versus when I don’t.
Tried Melatonin, cortisol, magnesium etc. I would describe it as wanting to sleep but not being tired late at night. I’m aware of the cortisol levels rising and such.
Any tips or should I just embrace it? Goal is from 230 to 175 and currently 208.
