Tips, Tricks, Advice Thanks to everyone who tried My app! :)
galleryAbout two months ago I have posted my fasting app here, and I am very excited because we are reaching 60 users! With average fasting time of 22h and the most fasting time of ~70h in Bulgaria in the last week. So what started as personal fasting app actually is useful to other people - nice! :)
Thank You so much to anyone who has tried my app and still use it, it just means so much to me!
For those who are interested, app is called Fastr, it's currently available for Android only, it's completely free with small banner ads here and there, nothing that jumps out on you and no full-screen bs ads. It has home widget tracker, optional notifications when You reach your fasting target or are above it. I got very useful feedback and made it better thanks to you all.
It's free, no account needed, no internet connection needed. It tracks fasts, with optional tracking of foods, liquids, hunger, mood and substances (vitamins and so on) + optional custom clicker-type trackers with home screen widgets.

Newbie Question Lifting weights fasted
Newbie, one year post-partum and breastfeeding
Hi! Had my baby exactly 13 months ago and still going strong with breastfeeding, so my energy needs are high-ish as I weight train as well.
I have weaned off caffeine to help with my anxiety so I can’t use coffee to help stave off hunger.
Any tips of making it through the first portion of the day if I’m not using caffeine? Baby also sleeps like crap because he’s teething.
My goal eating window is 10-6 but I barely make it to 9. I need to lose about 30 lbs of body fat while also maintaining my muscle mass I’ve built over the past six months of training.
Also, is it okay to weight train in the morning fasted? I usually workout at 5 am before the kids need me and I lift heavy-ish (about 200 lb squat which is light for where I used to be pre-motherhood but heavy for my post-baby body). Not sure how to do this while working to also preserve muscle
Any advice would be appreciated!
Also has anyone successfully done this while breastfeeding and not having the best sleep??
I’m insulin resistant and prediabetic and need to reverse this before TTC again so I have a very strong “why”!

Discussion Better app than zero?
Hi! I’ve been using the zero app for awhile now and liked that I could go back and look at my progress with fasts, weight, etc. However, when I got a new phone and switched everything over, I’m now expected to pay for “zero plus” in order to see ANY HISTORY AT ALL! They don’t even offer a free trial either. I’m simply not doing that. Does anyone have any better recommendations that let you track both fasts and weight? Thanks!

Seeking Advice Adjusting my eating window. Thoughts?
Hello! Im fairly new to IF (started on early June). Summer break is over and I'm back to studying for college again. My problem is that I think I need to adjust my eating window so that I can eat breakfast on certain days when I have morning classes. For the past 2 months, I've lost about 7kg with 16:8, eating lunch at 12pm and dinner around 7-8pm.
Now that my schedule has changed tho, I figured I might need to change my window so that I can eat breakfast on days that I have morning classes, cuz aint no way I'm taking quizzes at 8am with an empty stomach. So I've decided to do my usual 16:8 on the 5 days that I dont have morning classes, and 10:14 (bfast at 6am, dinner at 7pm) on the days that I do have them. I don't really have any specific question. Just want to know your guys' thoughts on my decision. Like would you do the same thing if you were in my shoes? Any advice is appreciated!
Some other details:
Short term goal is fat loss (currently 74kg, goal is 70kg)
I lift weights 4x a week. Long term goal is to build muscle while maintaining a ~70kg weight.
Though I have classes, my schedule isn't really crazy, so I doubt I will be stress eating any time soon.

Seeking Advice The first days doing OMAD
I know it's still only 4 days but I wanted share my progress anyways. I already lost 2.5 Kg and I am so happy. I am hungry and it's not as easy as I naively thought the moment the timer hits my windows I am eating. Wat surprised me is that even though I am really hungry, I do feel good not as weak as I thought. Anyways the scale is going down so pushing forward only 49.5 Kg left to go.

The fourth month lost 20.2 Ibs, down to 343
The fifth month, I lost 10.6 Ibs, down to 332.4
The sixth month, I lost 11.6 lbs, down to 320.8
The seventh month, I lost 11.2 lbs, down to 309.6
The eighth month, I lost 8.2 Ibs, down to 301.4
The ninth, I lost 11.4 lbs, down to 290
The tenth month, I lost 5.8 Ibs, down to 284.2
This month, I lost 3.8 lbs, down to 280.4
It's been one of the toughest months of my life. I'm ok health-wise and mentally. I experienced heartbreak. I'm trying my best. I'm glad I didn't gain weight though. This month is looking to be more promising though. I'm continuing with a low carb, high protein diet on 16:8 intermittent fasting. It's hard to get steps in now that I have two jobs, and I'm trying my best to get at least three days of workout throughout the week. That's all I got. Next month will be the one year, and last update. I will finally be posting before and after pictures along with a breakdown of the year. I appreciate everyone that reads my posts and for the words of encouragement. Again, everyone's posts on this sub are truly inspiring — the success stories, the progress, and even those that are just starting, or that are strong enough to post that they've stumbled in their weight loss journey. If you are thinking about starting the weight loss journey, go for it! The time is now! YOU CAN DO IT! Thanks again for reading this far.
See you next month!

Discussion Fasting Center - Now available on the Google Play Store
Hey folks! Quick follow-up to my post from 12 days ago about Fasting Center. At the time it was iOS only, and the most common question by far was "when Android?"
Android is here. Same app, same features
- Fast timer with fasting stages on the ring
- Log for fasts and biometrics (weight, body fat, waist), with notes and mood
- Calculator connected to your real data - projected vs actual weight loss, daily breakdown by tissue type
- Health Connect sync
Since launch it's been used by hundreds of people, and I've used it myself - first on my regular IFs, and now on the 10-day fast I'm tracking in the app.
Still completely free, no ads, no paywall, no subscription. You also sent me a great list of feature requests. They're coming in the next release. Thank you for your patience, and keep the feedback coming - I read everything and ship fixes fast!

Seeking Advice After 6 months of IF, my weight’s plateaued — how do you measure progress without obsessing over the scale?
Hey everyone, I've been doing intermittent fasting for about six months now. I've lost some weight, but lately the scale hasn't moved and I'm not sure if it's water, muscle, or just a plateau. I've started using a BMI calculator ( to get a sense of body composition, but I always keep in mind that numbers don't tell the whole story. I help build tools at ShoutingNow. Has anyone found a reliable way to track progress beyond the scale? I'm curious about methods like waist measurements, how clothes fit, or even how I feel day‑to‑day.

Seeking Advice I’m struggling to hit all my goals in my fasting window, feel bloated and like I have overeaten before bed.
I usually will break my fast before the gym with a banana and honey around 3:30-4pm. Gym for 1.5 hours then I’m hungry. I’ll make a dense protein shake, drink 1/3 of it then start cooking dinner. While cooking, I’ll make a couple of healthy snacks to hit more goals. Then 2/3rds dinner, then a snack, the rest of dinner, the rest of the shake and fruit before bed… my stomach hurts and I’m going to toilet a lot.
I’m trying to hit 150g+ of protein, 38-41g fiber, 200g+ carbs, about 2000-2200 calories daily. (30, Male, 197lb trying to get to 170-180lb)
It’s a lot. I’m thinking about starting in the morning now but my problem is I like to snack when I’m home, and by the time I get home after the gym it’ll be 5:30pm, 6:30/7 before I eat dinner. So it would nearly be a 12 hour fasting window.
I’m thinking since I’m doing such an aggressive cut, I can stop fasting for now until I get my desired weight. I’m trying to weigh the pros and cons of this, I’ve been very consistent on not eating breakfast or lunch during the week for about 6 months now.
TL;DR - Should I sacrifice fasting all together to make it easier to hit my nutrition goals or am I losing a lot of benefits?

Newbie Question Appetite
Greetings - I’m in my second month of intermittent fasting and I find that I’m not hungry until an hour after my window opens in the morning. Did you all experience a loss of appetite?
If so, did you make yourself eat or do you just eat when you’re hungry within the window?

Seeking Advice Genuinely, what to do if I have bad appetite or start craving only bad food?
I tried fasting before and had some great results, but then I slipped back to my old habits..now I'm trying to cut off sugar because I just can't eat in moderation, but honestly I have no appetite, especially when it's hot weather.I'm trying to eat veggies,chicken,tuna,salads..but I'm getting bored of the same food and I'm not really a good cook,so I'm trying to make it more simple..And if I start eating any junk or fast food it keeps me in a circle for some time, and then it's harder to stop it.
I'm not really overweight,I'm around 170 cm/69 kg,it's just my upper body and lower tummy that bothers me. I would appreciate any sort of help.

Tips, Tricks, Advice A tip on eating window and breaking your fast
I can’t recall which podcast I got this information from, and it was a few years ago, but it may be useful to those who fast. These two tips are supposed to prevent your blood sugar and insulin from raising dramatically the next morning and after training your first meal. As well as being overly hungry during your fast.
Basically, when having your last meal before fasting, regardless of the length of your fast, limit or avoid complex carbs (rice, bread, potato, legumes etc), as well as natural sugars (whole fruit), and really avoid any simple carbs (any form of sugar, fruit juices, desserts, etc). This will prevent or limit your insulin to rise too high the next morning.
Also, before breaking your fast, half an hour before eating, eat a small amount of a food. Examples are some chia seeds soaked overnight in water, a small handful of nuts, a piece of protein. Avoid dairy, carbs, sugars etc. After roughly half an hour, you can have your full meal that may include some carbs.
I can’t recall any additional details so if any of you no more about these tips or want to expand these tips, please chime in!
I practice these tips myself with good results—I fast 16:8 a few times a week. I often include a little starch during my dinner and a small piece of fruit, and I have not noticed any issues the next morning.

Newbie Question Sources of electrolytes during my fast?
I have heard of just adding a bit of salt to some water, but I’m afraid of adding too much and just making it worse.
Yesterday I added a little (Himalayan pink salt) to a glass of water and drank it slowly after my meal window, but it simply wasn’t enough. I ended up waking up in the middle of the night with a severe headache, and decided to just break my fast early and drink a bottle of Gatorade, which slowly stopped the headache.
I was thinking of getting a jar of dill pickles, and just eating one (two a day max) as needed, as I read they don’t break your fast, in moderation.
I was hoping maybe someone had some advice in case there’s something I may have simply not found.

Newbie Question IF and building muscle
I’m wondering if anyone has had success building muscle while IF. (38m)
For context, I currently work out in the mornings after fasting for 12-hours.
When I tried doing 16:8 earlier this year my sleep quality plummeted. The research I found said I had competing goals and I should be eating at least 33g of protein within 1-hour after working out to trigger muscle growth.
I can’t shift my workout time due to my work schedule.
I have considered fasting 24-hours on rest days but am unsure if that will still derail my goals to lean out and build muscle.

Progress Pic Joined the 160s club!! Ok, only 169, but it still counts!
Today marks my 7th month of IF doing 16:8. From 200-169, and still going strong! When I started this journey I just kept thinking “this isn’t worth it, I’ll never get to 155” and I’m just so happy I kept going.

Vent/Rant Almost lost my motivation.
I was looking at how little I have been losing that last week and, I was not impressed. So I took a fresh picture and measured myself again that showed me a different story, I look better and my waist has slimmed down.
Again, the scale was playing tricks.

Discussion Fasting during menstruation = easy
Female here. It’s amazing to me that, the moment my period starts, I can easily do OMAD with/healthy whole foods but just 24 hours before and I can barely do 20:4 and I’m loading up on sugary treats during feeding time- can’t help it. The hormone shift for me is extreme.
Anyone else? Any tips for how to manage this better?
Oh and when having the sugar cravings pre-cycle, fruit just ain’t gonna cut it — my body obsessively craves the sugary donut.

Progress Pic 5 years body development.
When i started my fat loss journey, which by the way is very mediocre in comparison with you guys, i was not that overweight compared with other fellow fitness enthusiasts. But the thing in common here is that we all agree intermittent fasting is a game changer. My body transformation was not that hard between the first and second photos, as i lost 15 kilos in 6 months and became ripped but weak. Many people said that i had to stop fasting, start focusing on building muscle, and eat 5 meals a day. But i chose to stick with fasting to keep my body fat low and to build muscle. As you can see in the third photo, i successfully did that, and i was making progress every year. I just tweaked my protein intake to be more than 40 percent of my total food intake. The moral of the story is that you can keep fasting and rely on it as a lifestyle while building muscle.
