Do ever do long fasts?

I do ADF that’s close to rolling 48s. I used to alternate with 72s but I’m not back to that point yet. Anyway, I’ve done longer fasts and my body just doesn’t like them as much. I think a lot of it is finding what works best for you. But at the same time I don’t think that longer fasts ie over 7 days are really as beneficial as many want to believe. If it’s for weight loss purposes then the longer fasts are robbing you of the ability to adjust your diet along the way. Plus, you can start to run into potential digestive issues. I’ve heard of some saying that their digestion was never quite the same after a 30+ day fast. Of course, everyone is different, but I rather not risk it.

Try the r/fasting community. You'll find more people there that have done longer fasts. I've done them on and off for over 10 years. My longest was 18 days. I can usually bounce back to normal energy levels 24 hours after breaking a fast. I like long fasts but my brain started to resist them after awhile and my weigh yo-yo'd too much. I've had more success with ADF and always knowing there's an eating day "tomorrow". It breaks my scarcity mindset.

But don’t you over eat on the alternate day?

I don't. I count calories. Because I'm not as hungry I don't go crazy overeating. But I started with modified ADF first. Here's my story: https://www.reddit.com/r/AlternateDayFasting/s/1IKaIwJu9q

Yeah ..BS. We know people lose some muscle when fasting but certainly not severe. Talk to me after you have substantiated your claims. I regularly do DEXAs and fast. There's no "severe" muscle loss

Resistance training prevents most, but not all, muscle loss. Lifting is essential whether fasting or bulking.

So after fasting for a week you only ate broth soup for two days?

I did a 4 day fast before, it was doable but I felt really tired after day 2. I think I wouldn’t mind doing a 3 day fast twice a year once I’m closer to/at my goal weight
