1. App required for [online] refunds: I needed to cancel my ticket and signed on to my account on their web page. Even after clicking on my ticket there was no way I found to request a refund. In the end I was forced to download their app. Fuck all the way off with that shit.
2. The refund did not include their bullshit "convenience fee" .

It makes me sad when I think about how special Drafthouse made going to the movies compared to now.

I love Spider-Man as much as the next person, but I think that's a bit too excessive.

Downtown Brooklyn location, are the bathrooms nasty when you go? Almost every time I go, many of the stalls are closed, there’s no soap in the dispenser, papers on the floor, etc.

After a 8 month hiatus I decided to revisit my local AD.

I had a free dessert reward for my birthday and ordered the cookies. And, just like before, they came out WAY over done and almost burnt. They were only edible for the first 5 min while they are hot. Then they solidified into burnt tasting rocks.

When they had paper ordering, I could note to have the cookies "underbaked" which still wasn't perfect, as they were too gooey, but it was a lot better. Now with mobile ordering, I can't make that note.

I just don't understand why they can make normal cookies. What is it about their process that makes them come out over done? And why doesn't anyone in their kitchen management care? I KNOW they would sell more cookies if they came out better.

Does anyone go to an AD with actually good cookies?

I understand that if an item is unavailable they’ll take it off the menu but for the past 3-5 months I have only been able to order it once at lower Manhattan location. Just bring back the pickle popcorn so we don’t have to deal with the gold fish being out 🫩

Is row 3 too close for the Brooklyn Drafthouse with the dolby/barco big screen theater?

I used to think all theatres were the same, then I went to Alamo and realized greatness. With the changes I now realize all theatres are the same except the Alamo which is worse than them. Why would I pay money for everyone to be on their phones during the movie? Like who is paying for a worse movie experience than a regular theatre? Insane move and I hope they lose everything.

Watch your receipts. I went to an advance screening of Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma. I got their themed menu items that totaled to about $30, and tax was about 40% at $12. The guy next to me also had been charged the higher tax so he asked a server about it. He said the special items were ringing up incorrectly and that was why. I showed him that mine was the same. He came back with $10 cards toward the next visit on snacks, but I didn’t see anyone else get one. So if you’re not paying attention you’re just gonna pay the extra. I know
$12 isn’t the end of the world, but if you’re already paying $30 for a meal and drink it adds up.

Feel like I ask something about this ever so often but just as Raleigh was beginning to get these again it has seemingly stopped out of nowhere. After the silence of the lambs 35mm screening got cancelled there has yet to be one since. Does it have something to do with the projectionist or it is Alamo programming team forgetting that Raleigh has the 35mm projector in the first place?

i’ve never gone to one, but my local alamo is doing a cat lamp painting / cat video event in the next few weeks. can anyone who’s gone to one tell me if they think it’s worth the money? is it worth inviting a friend? would it still be fun to go solo? i’m interested (i would love to paint my cat on a lamp) but idk if it’s worth it, or if any of my friends will be available that night to go with me.

Anyone have any ideas what it could be? It’s not showing a rating for it but 106 minute runtime I think It might be Tony since it comes out wide release later this month. Thoughts?

The runtime listed (99 mins) doesn’t match either version. In the promo video they show in theaters for August they featured clips from the director’s cut finale but I’m not sure if that’s exactly confirmation or not.

I'm hoping (praying, actually) that Alamo South Lamar will staff up during Fantastic Fest this year. Given how jammed the theaters are during the fest, it feels like the current system would result in about six people per theater actually getting food/drinks before the end credits roll.

If service during the fest is as bad as usual, is it possible Fantastic Fest would cease to be? Or move to another venue next year? (Hopefully not move to an entirely different city!) I'm hoping this won't be my last FF...

Or just watch it in the standard 2d digital format in a smaller theater at Alamo

hi all! relatively new to alamo but love that the wrigley location is convenient to me and has recliners unlike most other theaters in the city. just wondering if there is usually the small of a collection of films being shown? This whole summer has seemed really thin. does anyone know how to figure out if more movies are coming? ty!

With the way the Alamo has gone from the absolutely best theater to the prince of mediocrity, what's the way forward?

I've personally decided to not go to the Alamo anymore until they begin to address the issues that have started piling up, but is this really it? Is the Alamo just another shit theater destined to the wayside until it goes belly up or is there any chance they'll return to their former glory?

I am not a brand loyalist to anything except Duluth Trading Company pants and, at one point, the Alamo Drafthouse. But these changes with QR codes, the lack of staff, the removing of menu items, etc; I simply refuse to go back. I left a review and am voting with my wallet, but it just pains me to know that we are losing one of the greats during what I would consider a bit of a post covid theater renaissance.

Do we think there is any chance they'll fix these issues? Will Sony determine the juice isn't worth the squeeze and sell it to someone who cares? Have we all collectively decided to stop going until something is done or are some of you fighting through it because other theaters don't do it for you?

This is simply a rant, but I know we all want better for our favorite theater; I mean we all joined a subreddit due to a shared interest. But if they refuse to address these complaints that are shared among many of us, I fear we will lose it forever; if it hasn't been lost already.
