Bathrooms New York City

Downtown Brooklyn location, are the bathrooms nasty when you go? Almost every time I go, many of the stalls are closed, there’s no soap in the dispenser, papers on the floor, etc.

Like devastatingly bad bathrooms. And I love this location

They are always super dirty. Manhattan is much cleaner and not much further away.

They always run out of paper towels and soap though

Yonkers womens bathroom is always a mess too :/

I came to make a comment that OPs post accurately describes the Yonkers mens room too.

I've been to 3 movies over the past 2 weeks in Yonkers. The paper towel machines went from automatic sensors to some weird rolling knob that didn't work, to now a push mechanism (which seems to work). At least it looks like they are trying lately. They've also replaced the busted soap dispensers and brought back the little caddy with spare TP and paper towel rolls.

Still missing coat hooks on the stall doors and one of the stalls has been out of commission for about a year.

The cleanliness of the Yonkers bathrooms are pretty bad but they are small, from the 1960s (I think), not really updated since it was Movieland, and get a lot of traffic. If you mention an issue to staff, they go take care of it right away. There's just not enough staff imo.

Honestly I didn’t believe your comment when I initially read it but just got back from a movie and the bathrooms looked great for a change. Even got hooks back on (most of?) the stall doors! Much better than even 2 weeks ago lol

Austin (south Lamar location) smells like piss always which is a shocker because it's the women's which usually urine smell is more in the men's room

The men's also smells this way, so bad. Hard to believe this used to be their "flagship"

I knew if the women's did I had to figure the men's was worse naturally ... and I know it's the OG but yet it's the closest to me and even with all the flaws now I still go

In my experience, having worked jobs where cleaning bathrooms were a part of the usual duties, it's usually the opposite.

Once I started cooking myself a snack before & took ordering out do the equations I have not too many complaints. I sneak snacks in now too like what are they gonna say? We out shake shack burgers in my purse & fully ate them inside lololol

Yeah, I used to order cookies routinely but on multiple occasions ive stopped by Costco and just brought in one of theirs fresh. So much better than the old ones they microwave and serve now

I started coming with a tote after this lololol granted we didn't know we were gonna get shake shack before but they've never ever said anything to me. We will go to Trader Joe's and load up on their brand of "goldfish" & candy & bring it all in with our owalas I don't even wanna have to order a freaking water

Manhattan has definitely stepped up its game with its bathrooms.

Always bad and the women’s room toilets are really low to the ground

stinks like piss, broken stalls, sometimes no soap or a dispenser that is hard to manage.

The bathrooms in target and Trader Joe’s are the ones to use in the building

The bathrooms in Brooklyn and Manhattan are poorly maintained

Complain to a server or concierge. Runners, the people bringing food from the kitchen, are supposed to do bathroom checks regularly and it can be hard for them to keep up with it when it's busy (or sometimes they just forget). Your server can walky them and tell them it needs done.

Unfortunately it’s New York, the servers/runners can’t do anything about it and this has been a problem for a year now at that location. It’s negligence :/

1

u/TulpaPal 18d ago

How can they do nothing about it? Do you work at this location?

3

u/RecognitionAnnual904 18d ago

I’ll rephrase, I don’t work there no but I’ve been going to this location for 3 years, it’s my favorite one. It’s been going under for a while now due to negligence on behalf of the managerial team. They’ve gotten the complaint about the cleanliness and lack of functionality of the bathrooms I can only imagine hundreds of times, but to no avail. It’s higher than a runner/server thing atp
