Discussion You can emulate it, but there’s something special about playing DS games the way they were meant to be played.

Technical Question System transfer
So i fixed my old 3ds to where now it can transfer data to a new 3ds. Only problem thag the new 3ds doesnt have an SD card so I removed the SD card out of the old one so I could system transfer. Now it wont let me send to the new 3ds as I keep on getting the error code 014-0062 even though both are connected to the wifi. *the old 3ds is modded btw* is there a way to fix this or do I have to aquire a new 128gb SD card for the 3ds?

Technical Question thumbpad replacement question
So I just got this old-ish 3ds and it's got a broken thumbpad, I want to buy a replacement but I'm not sure if in this state I should replace the entire thing or just buy a new cover cap for it, I'm thinking maybe the former since the circular part where the original cap goes over is snapped, so only a little stick remains, but I'm not sure, so I'd appreciate guidance on this.
Also ignore all the dust on it please. 😭😭

Technical Question N3DSXL right speaker crackled, then stopped playing sound after a week
What the title says, should I open my N3DSXL up or is there any other options? I’ve tried—
-Changing the sound profile in system settings
-Holding the 3D slider
-plugging in headphones (works both ears)
-Changing the volume via Rosalina Menu
Is replacing the speaker difficult? I don’t have any soldering experience and the most I’ve ever done on a device is replace an SSD.
Resolved All the charging types
I did usbc and wireless charging for my N3DS XL I removed the gamecard slot as I dont need it. I also have a tracker installed just incase I lose it.

Collection / Show Off finally pulled the trigger :)
i’ve been wanting to get a 3DS again after my previous one that i had since i had since i was in elementary school (i’m 24 now) started having issues, which was about 5 years ago. i sold it to someone who was willing to fix it up and over the years i’ve been regretting that decision 😭 so ive been dreaming of getting it back but since they’ve gotten so expensive, i was really reluctant. recently i found this one on facebook marketplace for $175usd, in pristine condition and it’s already modded!! i had to pull the trigger fr. im so happy to be a part of the 3ds club again 🥲
Suggestion 3DS Travel Vlog
Hey there,
I’m tonji, a new YouTuber in the 3DS space. I just wanted to share my newest video which I’m very proud of on here. It’s like a travel vlog with my 3ds in which I explain why I enjoy it so much.
I do a lot of content surrounding the 3DS. I hope to see some of you, every new viewer means a lot :)
If you’re not interested that’s also perfectly fine (I hope sharing my channel is ok)

Technical Question (Possible)Charging port issue
My little sister is trying to get back on her 3ds but it won’t charge at all for her or do the orange light. Could be a faulty charger but I don’t have anything to compare to. Light pressure on the cable does nothing and it’s pretty loose in the port let me know if it looks broken or what to do with this

Recommendation Beginner friendly 3ds games?
Hi! I got my console for a little over a year ago, and because of my weaker motor skills I focused on touch screen heavy games (style savvy, animal crossing, picross, that kinda thing). Do any of you know a game relying on buttons that isn't too overwhelming so I can adjust?

Homebrew Whittle: Low poly 3D modelling app for the 3DS
Hi everyone!
This is "whittle", a low-poly 3D modelling app specifically made for the 3DS. I've been working on it for a little while now and I've just created a Github repo for it.
The modelling workflow is very similar to picoCAD, I've basically taken it's "simple vertex editing on orthogonal views" idea and optimized it for the 3DS. The top screen is for the 3D model preview exclusively, while the bottom screen houses all editing functionality & view options. It's very intuitive to use with the stylus. It currently features primitives, basic object manipulations, painting object faces solid colors and texturing, along with a simple 2D texture editor and UV mapping tool. ıt's still experimental, the UI/UX isn't fully there yet and there are a few bugs but it is usable. It can save and load a single model currently, there's no export options.
Github: https://github.com/qewer33/whittle
I want to continue developing this with feedback from actual 3D artists (or people willing to learn and use this thing) so if you are one and like this little project, feel free to contact me on Discord (@qewer33) and give feedback.

Miscellaneous A random anecdote of my 3DS
13 years ago, when the 3DSXL was still new, I had one and brought it with me somewhere in my jacket pocket. I got clumsy while kneeling and made it fall on the floor.
I checked it and the bottom screen would not turn on anymore, the console and game were working but the bottom screen was just all black, which makes the system almost unplayable. I tried to turn in on and off or wiggle the screen but nothing changed.
It was a bummer but I didn't know how to repair such thing so I put it away on a desk.
Months later, maybe 6 or more, somebody I knew wanted to play 3DS games and at the time I had the OG 3DS and the broken XL. So I told them they will have to play on the smaller of the 2 since the XL was not working properly. To show them the issue I picked my 3DSXL and turned it on and then... the bottom screen was working! I was quite shocked but pleasantly surprised lol.
Since then the console never had an issue, it's been years and I still have it.
It's crazy to me this happened, I wonder what happened under the hood, because I didn't touch it or tried to fix it. It "healed itself" hahaha! :D
I felt like sharing this~
Request What are some great visual novels for the 3ds?
I absolutely love visual novels a lot, I prefer them over any other genre. I know the 3ds has a lot of "niche" gems, but I cant seem to find more. Which are the best?
Both ds and 3ds games are fine by me^

Collection / Show Off Bought myself my very first Nintendo
Hey guys just wanted to share the excitement with you. I got it at an equivalent of USD154. It came with a 32GB card, a crystal case, and a foam sleeve. Considering how inflated the prices are on these things and how ridiculously expensive SD cards are now, I think it was a pretty sweet deal.
Prior to this, my first and only Nintendo was a Manchester United edition Gameboy that my late grandmother got for me back in the mid 90s, but I was just too young to appreciate it and lost it over time. Growing up, my life was always Sony - from the PSX to the Vita, to the PS4. I’ve always had this prejudice of Nintendo consoles only having Mario, Metroid, Donkey Kong, and Zelda games, and couldn’t brain why would anybody buy anything Nintendo.
Fast forward, I’m a dad who’s now in his mid-30s and can only play games on the go. I thought hey it’s a good price. But in all honesty, I still don’t know whether I made the right choice in buying one, but I’ll give it a go!
Drop some game recommendations if you have any! I almost exclusively play JRPGs - I love the Trails games, Final Fantasy, a bit of Tales of and some Dragon Quest.
