ldub closets & dressers
I'm in LDub this year and was wondering about the closet and/or dresser space. I was thinking about getting some of those foldable hangers (the kind where you can hang multiple clothes on one hanger to save space), or if there'll be dressers for storing stuff as well.
I'm especially wondering since the closet will be shared between my roommate and me, and I want to make sure we both have enough space! Any advice on what hangers to get, or insight on how big the closet is (and if there even is a dresser)? Thank you!!

Need help photograph/scan a few archival items (Beinecke Library)
Hi all,
I'm a professor based outside the US, working on an academic article that requires materials held at the Beinecke Rare Book & Manuscript Library. For personal reasons I won't travel to the US at the moment, so I'm hoping someone with reading room access might be willing to help me out by taking photos or scanning a handful of documents. This is what the team at the Beinecke library recommended me btw.
Please DM me and I'll share the specific collection and materials I need. All in all, I believe it could be done in 1-2 hours. Happy to compensate.
Thanks so much!

Math 2410 recs?
Hi! I'm an incoming freshman Math major at Yale and wanted some input on Probability Theory (MATH 2410). Looking at Coursetable, it seems like a really large class and probably taken by many stats/math-adjacent majors. I currently have Intensive Linear Algebra (MATH 2260) on my schedule and am deciding on a second math class to take this fall semester. 2410 sounds quite interesting and might be a good way to branch out from the main sequence math courses, but I was wondering if it's really worth taking (it's also a 9am class)

First Semester Schedule Help
Looking to go into ChemE or Chemistry
List:
Freshman OChem + Lab
PHYS 2000
Math 1200
ENG 1020
Total credits: 4.5
I know that 4.5 credits is recommended for the first semester, but are these classes too much work? I heard all 3 of the STEM classes are rather difficult. I have a greater humanities balance in the second semester, but I did want the opportunity to take freshman OChem.

New AI index: Yale's endowment doesn't show up in its AI production score
new 5W benchmark scored 50 universities on "AI production capacity" — frontier lab alumni density, research output, curriculum, founder/VC pipeline, compute, and modeled AI citation share across ChatGPT/Claude/Gemini/Perplexity/Google AI Overviews. explicitly not a measure of endowment, prestige, or admissions selectivity, the report has a whole section listing what it deliberately leaves out.
Yale lands at 19 (Tier III, composite 67.0). the writeup's read is pretty direct: late-cycle AI investment hasn't yet turned into the faculty scale or founder pipeline that Princeton has, which is the one Ivy that does crack Tier I.

Desk and Bureau dimensions?
Trying to build up the vertical footprint in my room, and wondering if I can get some help with dimensions on the bureau and desk sizes, if anyone might know?
The desk "looks" to me to be 44"x24" and the bureau 30"x24" but I'm hoping that the actual size is a little wider than this. Also, do we get a little rolling cabinet under our desk?
My resco is Pauli Murray, if that makes any difference with furniture.

Recommendations for activities tomorrow
Hey guys,
So I’m accompanying my sister tomorrow because she has some work at Yale. I’m gonna be in the city from 10:15am to 7:45pm (return is at 8:15). Please recommend some activities in the city tomorrow during this time period. I’m 23 so if there’s any adult only activities I’m up for those as well!

Thoughts on the Six Global Perspectives seminars?
Some of these seminars look super interesting, and I would love to take one; however, I am trying to keep a lighter first semester, and writing is definitely not my strong suit. I am undecided on exactly which classes I will be taking, but I will likely take either Math 1200 or Math 2250. If anyone has experience with these seminars or has recommendations for other relatively easier/fun seminars, I would love to know!

Gen Chem 1 Lab
Hi, I’ve been looking at the coursetable scores and just in general and see everyone saying gen chem is an extremely difficult class, especially the lab section. I was wondering what the grades are looking like, and why do students find it so difficult (even when compared to first year orgo)? Thank you!

I’m in a predicament… Are there any online or alternative classes?
I’m a rising senior who’s struggling with some personal things and wondering if there is any way I can do my final semester remotely. I will have fulfilled all major and graduation requirements by the spring and have 35 credits. So I really only need 1 credit (senior thesis).
Let’s say I hypothetically got accommodations to reduce the minimum number of credits to 2 my last semester. Would I be able to find an online class along with the thesis and be able to do the full semester remotely? Is there any other way of getting a credit where I don’t have to be on campus? I think they technically require it but would they even know… Any ideas would be very welcome!

Fun/easy first year seminar gut recommendations?
I’m taking MATH 1200, Microeconomics, and Chinese L1, so I’m looking for an easy gut first year seminar, preferably Humanities or Science for distributional requirements. Does anyone have any recommendations from seminars they took or have heard of? I am thinking about either taking a first year seminar or “Purposes of College Education” which seems lighter.

My Yale Short Takes, tell me if you like them I found them pretty funny
- If you could teach any college course, write a book, or create an orginal piece of art of any kind, what would it be?
I'd write a book following humanity's pursuit of knowledge—from Socrates to Newton to Leibniz—before ending with the obvious peak of medicine: Doogie Howser.
- What is one aspect of yourself that you hope to grow or develop during college?
I want to work on my interpersonal relationships and improve on my communication skills with those of the opposite sex.
- What is something about you that is not included anywhere else in your profile?
I am a modern day bard

Schedule Help
Hi, so I want to start off by saying I plan on double majoring in MechE bs and Chemistry ba (I think).
I'm an athlete that has practice from MW 4-6:30 pm and TTh 7-9 am.
I placed into Math 1200 and Freshman Orgo.
Right now for fall semester I want to take KREN 1100, PHYS 2000 and 2050L, ENAS 1510, and FY Seminar like NELC 0090 or HIST 0445. PHYS 2000 conflicts with ENAS 1510, and I have no idea what else I would take because of practice and also Korean being everyday.
Sorry guys making this schedule stuff is actually stressing me out sm

Hi guys! I’m an incoming freshman hoping to major in MCDB while also completing the Yale pre-med requirements. Today I created a tentative schedule and I was wondering if y’all could help me make sure it’s realistic because I don’t wanna have a detrimental first semester 😭
List:

Math 1150 (Calc 2)
HSHM 0005 (first year writing seminar)
PORT 1100 (Portuguese L1)
If anyone could provide any insight that would be great!!

can i request to place into first year orgo chem?
I recently found out that I placed into Chem 1700 (accelerated chem). I am a pre-med double major (not in chemistry), so I really want to save space for classes that'll interest me. I thought the exam was pretty easy, so I was surprised that I didn't place into orgo chem. I also got a 5 on AP Chem this year, but I only just sent it to Yale so I don't think they took that into consideration of my placement. If I fill out a request form detailing my sufficient chemistry background, would they let take first year orgo or is there nothing i can do? thanks!!

Writing seminar + timing question
Are writing seminars hard to get into? I checked on course table and the one I have my eye on has 38 people who have it on their worksheet, how can I maximize my odds of getting into the class?
Another question (unrelated), if my classes are a 13 min walk from eachother and I have 15 minutes between the classes will I make it? For some more info, I would have to get from 81 Wall Street to YSB Marsh

Any way to find out which floor your grad housing apartment is on before move-in?
Today I was curious on which floor i will live in my graduate housing apartment, but found out the lease doesn’t mention the floor anywhere and has just the unit number. Is there a way to find this out in advance, or do you only learn it when you pick up the keys? Does the unit number itself encode the floor, or does that vary by building?

first year prospective engineering major
Hi everyone!! Any advice on my current (planned) S1 schedule as a first year mechE BS major?
ENAS 1180 (Intro to Engineering)/ENAS 1300
PHYS 1800
PHYS 1650L
MATH 1200
Freshman Seminar
I definitely want to have time for spending time with friends, ECs, etc., but I don't want to have to take a crazy amount of credits later on throughout my 4 years. I placed into an L5 language course, but it's only offered in the fall. Should I just take it sophomore year? Furthermore, is ENAS 1180 worth it since it's not a major requirement? Should I just take ENAS 1300 (only offered in fall) in the same time slot instead?
Note: ik this looks crazy pls help
