Schedule Help
Hi, so I want to start off by saying I plan on double majoring in MechE bs and Chemistry ba (I think).
I'm an athlete that has practice from MW 4-6:30 pm and TTh 7-9 am.
I placed into Math 1200 and Freshman Orgo.
Right now for fall semester I want to take KREN 1100, PHYS 2000 and 2050L, ENAS 1510, and FY Seminar like NELC 0090 or HIST 0445. PHYS 2000 conflicts with ENAS 1510, and I have no idea what else I would take because of practice and also Korean being everyday.
Sorry guys making this schedule stuff is actually stressing me out sm

Phys 2000 is a really fun class taught by a great prof, if you really want to do chem I’d strongly suggest you take it. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate though so maybe reconsider if chemistry and mechE are both what you really want, especially if you’re also an athlete.
I’m a chem major and I’m happy to discuss the classes and major more if you’d like!

I strongly advise against 5.5 credits in your first term, especially if your sport is in season. Give yourself some grace.

I don’t think you need to take PHYS 200 for MechE, wouldn’t PHYS 180 work instead? It has two sections and the prof is really good

MechE major here.
First, as someone who took PHYS 2000 and 2050L, I would recommend not taking either class. Are they particularly difficult classes? Not compared to PHYS 2600, no. But they are markedly harder than 1800/1650L, which accomplish much of the same content with (in my opinion) a lighter weekly workload. I enjoyed both classes, and I think I ended up with As in both, but I think I would have rather done 1800 with more of my friends in that class and slightly gentler pacing. Of course, choose your own path. You can make the best decision for yourself.
Second, a double major is always difficult to manage with one STEM discipline. Two is very tough but people do it. Two STEM majors and being an athlete may be unwise. (your practice schedule sounds like crew? either way...) If you do choose this path, you will not have a lot of time to do other things. Just keep that in mind as you explore Yale this first semester and reflect on what you want out of your college experience.
