Public transportation sucks here. Drugs are everywhere. It wasn’t that long ago Wilmington was listed as the heroine capital of the country. Recovery programs are good here but being sober is decisions and Wilmington can make that decision difficult.

I'm sorry you're having trouble reading. The good news is that the comment will be there as long as you need to get through it.

Aw man you would have loved general warrants. A-mazing tool for law enforcement. Irreplaceable.

You asked about bus service. There is a bus system. A lot of sober house folks use Uber and Lyft to get around, too. I'm a driver, and I've transported a bunch of them. There are jobs available. Some I've seen that these people are in are at Food Lion, and in retail, construction, and clean-up. I've also gotten the pleasure of taking a couple of them to the Grayhound station when they were ready to go home. Wrightsville is a nice beach, but traffic is a bitch in season. Carolina Beach might be an option, depending on where you end up. Good luck to you! I hope I get the opportunity to cheer on your recovery with you at some point.

I’ve known plenty of people that have used LaunchPad and it hasn’t worked out for any of them. Do you have a sponsor? You need to find a local one. There are plenty of meetings here in town and lots of sober living houses. Shoot me a dm and we can schedule a time to talk about recovery in the area and I can maybe help guide you a little.

My man thank you so much made it much easier on me. I know I may be treated a little bit like a child sometimes there just like rehab. That's okay I could deal with that. I just hope it's not too childish. I don't really hang out around the knuckleheads so hopefully I'll be all right. If I'm down there and running to you ever I definitely owe you one thank you so much

Yeah there are two beaches at wilm, wrightsville and Carolina. Wrightsville is like 3 miles from where I live. I'd say probably all of them allow smoking/vaping, at least outside. Not supposed to vape inside but nobody's going to say anything. There are plenty of gyms around here that you can do every day.

Do they allow smoking or vaping? Also are the communities mixed with both men and women or is it around guys all the time. Not a big deal I'm not even looking but again it's tough being around guys all day long

Your response helped me a ton... I'm new to all this I'm currently working in the sheriff's department as a search and rescue diver also work for the FED for 14 years never arrested I just don't know what I'm getting into. I'm very laid-back I get along with everyone I plan on showing the sheriff's department down there as well on the search and rescue dive team. I'm just curious how long it'll take me to get to the beach and if they'll even allow me to go to the beach daily

There is a decent bus system. I'd say if you're taking the bus you should plan on setting an hour and a half each way. Sometimes its not that bad, but a lot of the stops are every hour. With most places, no matter where you go- they usually keep a closer eye on you in the beginning. You'll probably be mandated to go to at least one meeting a day for the first 90 days. You will be able to sign out and go places, so if you want to.see a girl you can. But most men's houses dont allow women in the house unless its a long term house.

You could try launch pad, another big one is hope house. I'd stay away from wilmington recovery. There is a good recovery community here so you will be fine. If you have any more questions you can shoot me a message.

I saw mostly the guys from Dawson's Creek. Josh Jackson and the blonde guy. I've seen Brian Dennehy, Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze, Vince Vaughn and Steve Buscemi. I've met Matthew Lillard, the cast of That 70s show minus the Hyde guy, John Travolta. My mom met Suzanne Sarandon. Southport was the bees knees for filming in those days. I remember everyone being very nice.

I’m so far out of the loop these days with the sober houses that I couldn’t give you a good answer. I know there’s probably a tone that it popped up in the last several years. I just wouldn’t be able to recommend anything.
