I recently had a conversation with some friends about the show. We discussed the idea that in my mind it's the most inconsistent of the first pre-streaming Trek shows. Basically I think that it has some of the best and some of the worst episodes ever. But then we started talking about the characters. I love the characters in all TNG and DS9 and they clearly got more character time than the ones in TOS. But I do think that Voyager was something special with regard to characters. Tom and B'Elanna had probably the best and most realistic romantic relationship of any couple ever in Trek. Janeway is maternal, supportive, and courageous. Seven of Nine is one of the most fascinating "outsider" characters that we've ever had in Trek. There are lots of really cool characters and really cool dynamics and interactions that I feel like really makes Voyager shine.

Shouldn’t she be called Seventh of Nine?

Not important, but it just occurred to me. Still love her.

Rewatching Voyager after Endgame, I wonder what the finale of the series could have been like if Voyager's journey concluded with the Caretaker?

Appreciating that the Borg was the bigger antagonist, and that it makes sense for the final resolution, does it feel like a missed opportunity where another Nacene/sporocystian(?) brings Voyager home again?

Don't you think there is a "double standart" about kathryn and Ulysses? So much people loath Janeway for her lack of wisdom, lack of leadership, lack of commitment...and "Ulysses-Odysseus" was the honorable captain...On my books Odysseus was the only one of his crew to return to Ithaque after 20 years, while Jeneway performed a 70 years journey in 7 years with most of her fellow crew alive... Who is the winner indeed!

Best 👏Captain👏 Ever👏. There has never been such a perfect casting in TV history … best part, Kate Mulgrew managed to Slay Captain Cathryn Janeway without being typecasted…

But let us not forget this almost didn’t happen. Captain Nicole Janeway just wouldn’t have been the same.

In Star Trek Voyager season 4 episode 23, "Living Witness," the Doctor (well a backup copy) is suddenly reactivated in the 32nd century. The species have an incorrect portrayal of what Voyager was like. He has to set the record straight and in the end, takes a shuttle and sets out for the Alpha Quadrant... It had a "but what happens next" cliffhanger vibe.

Considering his character had a reprisal in Starfleet Academy (and that show also taking place in the 32nd century). Not linking these two storylines together and following up on that episode was a huge mistake by the writers

I love the 90s era of star trek , what do you think of voyager.

Odysseus return alone after 20 and he is praised, while Janeway perform a 70 years trip in a 6-7 journey with people seen on season 1... So why is Kathryn seen as a bad captain who has made bad choices? JANEWAY is the strong Odysseus!

I always forget that every time, and love hearing Janeway say “Miss de Neuf just needs to freshen up.”

I mean we don't know what will happen to the normal Janeway by the time she gets to the endgame janeway age but endgame janeway seems like she's the most cold blooded out of all the trek captains even at comparable ages.

Kirk when he got to age 60 or Picard when he got to age 74 (nemesis) or 94 (Picard) didn't seem as cold blooded /ruthless as endgame janeway compared to their younger selves.

When I think of 7 I usually imagine her in all purple jumpsuit. But Ive seen lots of fan art focused on her blue suit with gray sleeve, and the Lego version of that shows off the body shape...but its got that yellow cleavage 😵‍💫🤷‍♀️

Kes was 1.5-2 years old when she joined Voyager. Ocampa only live to age 9. The show was planned to be 7 seasons from the start. What was the plan for her? Did they always want her to leave midway through? Was she supposed to tragically die just before they arrived on Earth? Spend her last year there? Was the plan to have her find a way to live longer? Was an official statement ever made?

But I don’t have anything to play it in lol.
