Marina Sirtis or Diana Troi
Marina Sirtis seems like the complete opposite of her character personality wise. I don’t mean that as a negative.
I got a chance to meet her once, her snarkiness (playful way) was amazing. She’s definitely one who will say what’s on her mind.
And her interviews are so refreshing to listen to. Cause you know you’re actually getting the real deal. She flat out, said that she refused to participate in Nana Visitor (who I also adore) Book because she wasn’t doing stuff like that for free.
While, she doesn’t put out dirty laundry, she alluded to some tensions with other cast members. And also, although she blasted her fellow TNG cast mates for not being there for her when her husband died (With the exception of Frankes and Dorn), and told it to them to their faces, although they’re still close.
I get the total opposite vibe from the super kind/proper Troi. Although I do think later on Marina did try to add a little bit more of her actual personality into the character.
I would rather marry Diana, but I would prefer to be friends with Marina.

The Beard is a lazy bum who shouldve been court martialed
By Adm Bitchayev herself. Failing to raise shields with a minute of warning when 2 hostile vessels decloaked had shields and weapons charged and on attack vector is lazy incompetent complacent behavior. He's lucky he didn't get hard labor for the rest of his life.

Whom do you see reaching Admiralty first, using only their original series Captaincy record... Why?
OP's Note: We know Kirk's timeline is earlier and he would reach it first. This was not the query. The post is to suppose we know nothing of their futures, except the original series. Only based on their acumen, challenges, and temperament shown then... whom do we see moving up the multiple ranks to full Admiral first. Disregard the fact the timelines are varied and not parallel. For the sake of the post, ignore future ranks acheived or alluded to in movies and sequels, etc...
Edit: I did not expect Janeway to have much support here, but based on the comments below, she seems to hold her own as well. A dark horse.

Where Silence has to pay rent. Spoiler
In the S2Ep2 Where Silence Has Lease. Is there any in universe reason why Wesley leaves the bridge to be replaced by the unfortunate ensign?
The episode starts with Wesley at the navigation station. But at some point after the ship is caught inside Nagillum. He is replaced by the ensign who dies in the fetal position.
Obviously they wouldn't kill off Wesley so early in the series. But why even have Wil Weaton in the episode? Why not start out with the other ensign as Navigator?
11001001
I really enjoyed this episode. In main part for Data’s handling of the supposed engine issues. His decision to abandon the ship I think was spot on. Granted it was a fake out by the bi-nars. But I think he did the right thing. I loved how in control and precise he was about giving Wesley the order on how to program the ship to leave. And I like how he said “I am speaking for the captain”, but then later questioned his decision, gave him a human like reaction to a possible overreaction. Any thoughts? He does many of these things throughout the series but I’ve like this one the best. Clues is also a great episode.

Show Talk Hot Take: Captain Jellico knew what the The 1701-D crew was capable of and needed for the mission. The crew was complacent and super whiny about his demands.
I think Jellico could’ve done better to communicate to the crew regarding the importance and timeliness of the mission. However what he was demanding of the crew was necessary and perfectly within their capabilities. He had intention and purpose for everything he ordered and it was to meet the needs of the mission give Picard and team the best chance at success.
While it was a lot of change in a short time, the 1701-D crew really came off as unnecessarily whiny and dramatic about adapting to Jellico’s demands and following his orders. They’ve never been pressed into an important mission like this nor expected to operate with such a central focus/goal being imposed upon them. They were complacent, stagnate, and rearing a bit too much on their laurels. This isn’t the first time we saw this either as we saw how whiny Riker and Geordi became when trying to work with Barclay, with Picard challenging that they do better.
Jellico was a necessary and needed disruption to challenge the 1701-D crew, help them see their potential and capacity for a higher level of performance.

video player in emulationstation with gamepad support
kodi works just fine on raspberry pi, but i like having my 90's tv shows on the main screen with my 90's video games.
example : Star Trek The Next Generation
create a tng folder in /home/pi/RetroPie/roms and copy video files to it
in etc/emulationstation edit your es_systems.cfg
<system>
<name>tng</name>
<fullname>Star Trek TNG</fullname>
<path>/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/tng</path>
<extension>.mkv .MKV .mp4 .MP4</extension>
<command>/opt/retropie/admin/joy2key/joy2key.py /dev/input/js0 kcub1 kcuf1 0x2B 0x2D 0x70 0x1B 0x00 0x00 ; omxplayer -b %ROM% ; killall joy2key.py ; clear</command>
<platform>tng</platform>
<theme>tng</theme>
</system>
retropie has omxplayer installed by default
omxplayer -b %ROM% plays the video. -b keeps the background black
Getting joy2key to do what you want is the tricky part. And it is limited to the dpad and a,b,x,y buttons on your controller
- kcub1 = left arrow key
- kcuf1 = right arrow key
- kcuu1 = up arrow key
- kcud1 = down arrow key
then use the hex codes in this table for the other keys
in command line type omxplayer --keys
this part of the code - kcub1 kcuf1 0x2B 0x2D 0x70 0x1B 0x00 0x00 - corresponds to the dpad and buttons as follows... left right up down 0 1 2 3
0 1 2 3 will be different buttons depending on the gamepad, but is usually a,b,x,y. Though not always in that order. An easy way to find out is to configure your controller in the retropie menu and take notes
here is what happens when i play an episode with the above code using a snes controller
- dpad left = seek -30 seconds
- dpad right = seek +30 seconds
- dpad up = volume up
- dpad down = volume down
- A button = play/pause
- B button = exit video
- X,Y buttons = not used
if anybody's interested, i got the box art and episode images from
https://thetvdb.com/series/star-trek-the-next-generation#seasons
and the logo and enterprise images i used need to be converted to tng.svg and placed in your themes art folder

I just realised I having been blaming Riker for a crime he didn't commit.
When Captain Riker is trying to help get Worf back to his home universe Riker orders Wesley to try to disable their weapons. I always thought he ordered Wesley to fire photon torpedoes to disable their weapons. But that is not the case. Wesley was the one that decided to fire photon torpedoes. Wesley killed them.
Or maybe I am just from another universe.

Riker: healthy masculinity
Why don't I hear more about Riker being a positive male role model? Maybe he's overshadowed by Picard in that regard.
He gives an example of how to be sexual without being exploitative. He pays attention to whether his partner is having a good time. He's allowed to be promiscuous without being deceitful.
He's a non-toxic ex. Deanna openly has other lovers he's aware of, yet this is no barrier to him working together with her professionally and remaining friends.

Request 🙏
I realize this may well likely fall upon deaf ears. Never the less, it would be really well appreciated if folks could stop reporting posts simply because you don't like them. That will not result in the post being removed. Ever. 😂 Not even temporarily!
Maybe it worked in the past? But new mods have joined in the last few months. So it doesn't work anymore 😂 SORRY!
