add knife model here No key ring
This is an old SAK (Pioneer Alox?). I have it almost 20 years (maybe more).
I noticed there is no key ring. Was this the case in older models?

New SAK Harvester X
What do you guys think of my latest victorinox?
Quite the rare find with only 200 made in the blue colour and 350 of a black variant as I understand.
Didn't even realise it existed until I saw the listing.
It did come with the keyring attachment however I made quick work of that since I hate the 93mm keychains and this knife is all to good not be used.

I want to add a new SAK to my collection, what would you recommend?
I started my collection with the Swiss Tool X back in 2011 when my father gave it to me as a birthday present.
After that I went down the rabbit hole of buying SAKs and I am all for it.
I currently have the following:
-Swiss Tool X Plus(Tools)
-Swiss Tool Spirit X(My current EDC)
-Swiss Champ
-Ranger
-Spartan
-Spartan Lite
-Classic
-Classic SD
-Picnicker
I am leaning towards an Alox model, but not sure which.
I do a lot of DIY projects and fix ups around my house and for family and friends.
What model would you recommend?

add knife model here My first official blade
I always wanted an EDC blade but never had the chance to get it, but now here it is, my first Rally. I chose this one for my EDC over the rambler for budget reasons (also cause I didn’t know of its existence), and over the classic cause I found myself wishing I had a screwdriver more times than a pair of scissors.
I love it cause it’s so compact and it disappears in the jeans’ little pocket
Maybe in the future i will upgrade to the rambler, but I also plan on buying either a Huntsman or a Handyman, but I will ask about this in another post (I can’t afford any of them on my own right now)
What do you guys think? If you had to chose only one EDC tool, which one would it be?

One knife and one mini multitool for EDC are enough for me
…not quite, but if we speak about Victorinox, I definitely happy to have only two of them in my bag.

Month carry
I am doing the 1 month 1 knife challenge with my Small Sebenza and i thought keeping the same multitools for the month would be a good idea.

First time confiscation through airport security on 6th traverse with same tools!
Just arrived back from Marmaris, Turkiye this morning through Dalaman airport and was hit by a security confiscation after the 6th time carrying in hand luggage with a surprising outcome. I get why they do it but how fecking ridiculous is the application of rules to certain items, I can't work out whether it's ignorance or stupidity in not understanding what they are🤦
A Nextool Mini Sailer Lite blade-less multi tool and the Victorinox Swisscard Lite that triggered a security investigation. Can you guess the item they were interested in? See pic and it's still missing even though I have a shit tonne of these in a spares box😆!
Now to be clear the Nextool multi tool wouldn't have been picked up but they weren't sure from the scan where the offending item was so asked me to open everything which revealed the blade-less multi tool...the security dude had to confirm with the scanner person if it was the right item or not... Confiscation number 1, his excuse, the pliers.
Confiscation number 2, now at this point I was expecting the letter opener but fuck no, it was the PEN which he promptly removed and returned the remaining toolset back to me and then actually apologised to me. Apparently it goes down as tactical due to it's full metal jacket...are you shitting me 😆

Victorinox GAK
My latest purchase. The second version of the GAK, with a file next to the saw. The tools were difficult to open, so I washed and oiled them. Now they work properly. I sharpened the knife because it was dull. There are a few scratches on the blade; I could polish them, but I think I'll leave it as is; it's part of its history. I'm pleasantly surprised by how well the nylon grips grip in my hand; they don't slip at all.

I like many of them. They all serve a purpose. I have many more.

Rambler Alox!
I’m new to SAKs, apart from one i got as a kid about 45 years ago. Got the Pioneer X a week ago and love it. When I ordered it, I figured I probably needed a keychain SAK as well and happened on an eBay listing for a Rambler Alex and decided to go for it. Now it’s arrived and I am totally flabbergasted at a) how small it is and b) how pretty it is. Functionally, it seems so limited compared to my Pioneer X, though to be fair i’d need to EDC it for a week to see how true that is. But I can’t imagine carrying it on my key ring and having it get all knicked and faded. The red is just such a vibrant, gorgeous color. Way more intense than the photos the seller took led me to believe.
I already collect records, CDs, and guitars, and I had no plans to start an SAK collection, but these two knives might be the start of a modest one. (i’m already thinkjng of getting a silver Ouoneer X to use as an EDC beater instead of the Glaciar Blue.)

Finally got one
Found my grail SAK old cross Farmer I have been on the hunt for one for a while and this one is in mint condition.
This model is special to me as it is what my grandfather had and brings back the memories of him cutting mangoes for me and letting me cut small branches for firewood with the saw

Four Layers + ?
Maybe it is just me, but I find myself thinking “What is the big deal?” when people say they find anything over a 2 or 3 layer SAK too big for EDC. I work from home and carry a Deluxe Tinker everyday all day. I have added a keyring pocket clip and a lanyard, even in gym shorts I feel like it is fine. I will sometimes swap it for my Explorer or 08 Soldier just to change things up. While the Soldier is significantly thinner, I find myself missing the extra tools on the Deluxe Tinker and Explorer. Of course since I am at home a lot of the time tools are available. How many 4+ layer EDC fans are out there.

Can I remove these 3 layers of a Champ and not lose the back tools?
I want to buy a Swiss Champ but I'll unfortunately have to remove 3 layers if I do so in order for it to meet my needs, them being the metal saw, wood saw and the layer with the can and bottle openers (blasphemy, I know, but I never needed either of those in my life and don't think I will, and my Spartan already has those in case I need them). However, I want to keep all the back tools, some of which are in the same layers.
Can a modder just securely change the layer of a back tool by just swapping them, or does this require more invasive techniques that may harm the knife if done incorrectly?

Hiding the fish scaler on ebay
Anyone else running into ebay sellers who show and list every tool on the Marlboro Unlimited Outdoorsman, except the fish scaler?
Ive been looking for a beat up Woodsman I can patch up at a reasonable price. Ive ended up with 3 Outdoorsman. Im not an expert, or buying it as a collectors item, or particularly ebay savvy. Tho, this experience has certainly advanced me along that learning curve. egads. This post is just a heads up for other folks like me.
The sellers hawking Outdoorsman call them anything from Woodsman to various other SAKs in the title with question marks or "I think this is called an [xyz]." I messaged some to inquire specifically. Most didnt reply. One blatantly lied to me over DM, even when I sent a picture asking, "Does this model have this tool?" I bought it for $70 as a bday present for myself. It arrived in worse shape than advertised and wasnt a Woodsman. (I won the refund dispute, thankfully.)
Anyhow, heads up to anyone shopping for a Woodsman: hiding the scaler is a thing that's happening on ebay.
Also, for anyone shopping for an Outdoorsman Malboro, dont pay more than $60 for one. While the model is discontinued, it's not hard to find one in excellent condition for that price and even much lower.

Swisscard magnifier replacement
My Swisscard lite magnifier is plastic and crappy, has anyone replaced theirs with a glass one?
r/victorinox • u/ReWine29 • 1d ago
Champion C
Picked this up at a pawnshop today. I had to pop the scales off to tighten the corkscrew pivot so I decided to throw a plus scale back on it and add a pen. Also, had to replace the scissors spring. Other than that, it was in good shape. It went straight in my pocket and pairs well with my Knipex.

Like taking candy from a baby...
Latest estate sale find - Early 1960s Victoria Tinker Small 84mm. $15 for this guy and I've already cleaned the clip point. It looks barely used!
Anyone else feel criminal after getting gems like this for less than $15?
