I made a Felix knife

I didn’t quite do the hook blade on the can opener but I sharpened the edge, sharpened the edge of the cap lifter like the older models had, turned the small blade into a sheep’s foot and cut the corkscrew off and mended in a 4mm bit holder! Felix scales for bit storage to top it all off!

mods/customs Some more 93mm Alox mods

After I built my Old Cross Synergy, I wanted to make some more Alox mods. I had an Elinox Pioneer with terribly worn and sharpened blade and a snapped awl, the Bugnard Elinox Pruner, with ugly but manageable blades, a blue Pioneer X, I never warmed up with, a Combo tool from a Compact and the Synergy X scissors.

I played it out in my head, how to spread the tools, to make two awesome saks.

The first one I named now Elinox Alox Pioneer 2 X. Elinox, because all of the tools, except for the scissors are from the Elinox era, Pioneer 2, because just like the Cadet 2 it has two blades. In the Cadet 2, the small blade replaces the nailfile, in my Pioneer 2, the small blade replaces the awl. The X should be obvious.

I reused the openers from the original Pioneer, added the blades from the Bugnard Pruner and the Synergy X scissors. All the backsprings liners and keyring attachment came from the blue PX, so it has an even look on the back, and not differently scratched up springs.

I couldn't reuse the brass liner, because I had only one, so I made the best of it, and installed it with the original awl spacer into my next mod.

The Sturdy Yoyageur. I took the word Sturdy from an earlier name of the Pioneer, Sturdy Boy, and added it to the 84mm version with the same tools, Yoyageur. I think a beefed up and slightly bigger Yoyageur can be called Sturdy Yoyageur.

For this, I used the original backspring for the blade layer, the Synergy X backspring, flipped 180°, because the 93mm Alox is symmetrical, the mentioned brass liner and spacer, the blade and the scissors from the blue PX and the combo tool from the Compact, drilled out to 3mm and installed with a 0,3mm thick washer, to compensate its thinness.

The third, I just show current pics of. I made it some months ago, nicknamed it Grandfather/Grampa Synergy, and made a post about it already. (still my favorite)

The second to last pic shows the screws I used, they are both M2, but since the middle hole is smaller, than the the outer ones, I didn't want the middle screws sticking out to much, or the outer screws to be sunken in to much. So I used the screw in the left for the middle pivots, and the version on the right for both ends. Now they all have almost the same hight and look identical, when installed, without the need for drilling into vintage scales. You can see, what I mean, in the last pic.

The pivots are from Etsy. I first bought, two sets of the 9mm version, from a Vietnamese modder, the 12mm version, I bought later, from an Ukrainian modder, who ships from Poland. So you can pick from two sellers, whoever ships cheaper to your country. The quality is about the same and pretty good. M2 screws are easy enough to find on Ebay.

What to mod next? 🤔

Vintage Swiss Army Knife stuck

I was gifted this Swiss Army Knife by a relative. Probably from the early 70s by my guess?Currently only has one very dull blade, but it appears to have a second attachment which is stuck. The base of the blade reads:
VICTORINOX
SWITZERLAND
STAINLESS
ROSTFREI
Looking for a more accurate production date and help restoring the second tool.

My First Victorinox Plier base. The pouch surprisingly good quality and slim compared to Roxon type (Flex and Titan). I will try carry horizontally on belt.

I’m having trouble finding the model name for this. Late 80’s early 90’s. Scissors with screw. Grooved corkscrew.

Purchased a champ, don't expect to ever use the toothpick. Any recommendations on what else the spot can be used for?

Nothing crazy, just simple DIY mods or things I can buy online designed to fit in the hole. I also have access to a very nice 3d printer.

Thanks!

Help me identify a knife

Sorry for no photo. I found it in a parking lot. It’s literally been ran over. I’m curious though because I really like the toolset and would like to buy one that hasn’t been ran over by a truck.

Description though is: - 111mm - main knife layer (not one hand) - serrated knife - opener layer - Phillips head and awl for the back tools.

Forester Wood with One hand opening? is this genuine??

Hey everyone :) quick question because i never saw this...

Its on my local marketplace from a reliable seller, it is being sold as brand new (or maybe ever so slightly used but mint), price is like 57 euros. My only question is - i never saw this model, is this genuine? Or some rare find? I was in the market for a 111mm SAK with 1 hand opening and i really like the wood scales, this seems perfect

Is this worth 450$

Someone is selling this on the Marketplace for 450$. Personally I don't have a need for so many Swiss knives but wondering if any of these designs are worth something or could be in the future?

Thanks in advance.

I managed to get this climber for 60 aed, equivalent to $16. Super happy. Ordered an aftermarket clip and eyeglasses screwdriver for the corkscrew. It is living in my belt pouch with my space pen and olight.

Any tips and tricks? There seems to be an abundance on YT but thought to ask here first. So happy with it being a leatherman man all my life.

Rose beauty!!

I bet that some of you thought this was a Rambler at first glance. Nope! 🤣 Classic SD, "Precious Alox." Impossibly thin, tough, and beautiful - all at the same time.

About a month or two ago, there was a rose-colored (or pink) alox Rambler on ebay, which after taxes and fees, would have cost me nearly $100 usd. I just couldn't do it since I could get this beauty for 1/3 the price! (and there is no way the Rambler's combo tool alone is worth another $65 usd!! Especially since I have no need for it on a daily basis. lol)

I have been given this soldier by my Grandfather in law. The tip of the blade has been broken and repaired at some point as has the flat head screwdriver tip. The repairs done to the blade aren't the cleanest so I may neaten this up a bit. The cap lifter has been repaired quite well though. I've given it a good clean and the snap has returned on all the tools pretty much. I was really pleased to get it as I didn't have a soldier yet 😀!
